The same thing every weekday morning: one scrambled egg with turkey sausage crumbles and feta cheese sprinkled on top. Delish!

I have diet root beer occasionally and it makes me burp. I mean REALLY burp. I was a Coke Zero freak before surgery and it tastes like pure Syrup to me now. Barq's diet root beer gives me the fizz that I crave but that doesn't happen very often. A six pack would probably last me a year. Haha!

I want to have my tummy done first and then my arms and breasts. I'm afraid that if I did my arms and breasts first, that the Tummy Tuck would pull my breasts down. Don't know if this is a valid concern but I worry about it nonetheless.

I was a Coke Zero girl. Drank 30-60 oz a day. Even more if we were camping. I quit drinking it 2 weeks before my surgery but had a sip of it about 2 months post-op. It didn't even taste the same. I'm 3 1/2 months post-op and 4 months now without Coke Zero. I miss the burn of the fizz but that's about it. I'm a never say never kind of person but I don't think I will ever drink soda again.

My drink of choice is iced tea. I like it sweetened with Splenda or Stevia. Wish I could eliminate sweeteners completely but I like my tea sweet.

Dr. Illan has a nutritionist/wellness coach who can be reached via email and telephone. She is great. The instructions you are given when you are discharged are very clear but if you don't understand something, just call.

shannybananny71 got a reaction from jess9395 in Sleeve next month: are there some foods we will never eat again ever?
The only thing I plan to never have is soda. I have had a small bite of rice but know that I will never have a serving of it again. I love spicy food and it hasn't been a problem. I really haven't found a food that causes problems. My new stomach is doing it's job of limiting my intake of food so I am doing my job of choosing the right foods. I splurge occasionally. When we have pizza, I always have one small bite with the crust and then eat the top off the rest of the piece. One piece. At dinner, I always eat my Protein but I also have 2-3 bites of a starch. Moderation is key and control over my eating is a wonderful feeling.

I have a hard boiled egg every day for breakfast. Love filet mignon and have that at least once a week. Burger without the bun. String bean chicken breast at Panda Express. Pecans. Iced tea with Stevia. Werthers sugar free candy. Pepperoni with cheese.

Do you take Vitamins every day? That will help with your energy. Also, if you lose your breath after walking a couple minutes, you should have a check up with your doctor just to make sure you are OK to start a walking routine.

Cut out all breads and sugars. Stick with meats, eggs, and veggies (or Protein shakes) for your meals. Have nuts and greek yogurt for Snacks. No more sweets. No more grazing. There's nothing wrong with drinking Decaf iced tea for your fluids.

I know it's hard. We have all struggled with food. Get your eating under control and I think you will start to see some changes.

shannybananny71 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Hate tracking food - now stalled
I quit tracking about a month after my surgery. Since my food choices were so limited, it didn't make sense to track the same things every day, especially when I was eating less than 700 calories a day.

I have been fluctuating between 282 and 284 for the last two weeks. This is my first stall and it's playing with my head. I know I need to start tracking my food to make sure that isn't the source of my stall. Do any of you track without using an app? I hate adding new foods or trying to find foods on the apps. It seems like it would be easier just to write it down in a notebook when you have the label right in front of you. Maybe I just need to quit being a whiny baby and realize that this is part of the process.

Help me get back on "track" and tell me how you track your foods.

I'm bearing my soul and body here. I couldn't be more proud of how my body has changed.
I've lost exactly 70 pounds since my surgery. Today marks exactly 24 weeks ( 6 months ) since my VSG surgery.
There's good, bad and ugly about VSG. A lot of days, I cried and wondered why in the hell I had this surgery, and what in the hell ive done to myself. Throughout this process, I haven't been able to REALLY see the changes. In my mind, I always see a 268 pound fat girl. Granted, I have seen the changes, seen the smaller clothes sizes, but still struggled with my self image in my head. But today that all changed....
I realized today as I was getting dressed that I had on the same exact underwear as the day I took my pre-surgery pictures. Then I realized that today marked 6 months since surgery. So, i decided to take pictures.
I haven't taken pictures in this process because of the absolute shame and disgust I feel towards myself. Shame and disgust are understatement words for how I feel about myself. Until today...
Today, I feel proud. For the first time, I can honestly say that I don't see "that fat girl" in the mirror anymore. It may not be pretty, it will never be perfect, but it's mine, and today I'm owning it, and FINALLY for once in my LIFE, I'm feeling proud.
It's NOT an easy decision to post these photos of me in my underwear. I feel absolutely vulnerable and exposed. Please be kind. It took all the courage I could muster to do this. The current pictures are not the best quality but the best I could take of myself at the moment.
All you new VSG-ers, stay the course and have faith. If you have body image issues as I do, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and you are not alone in the dark!
Much love from me to you all! ️️️

I also used Dr. Jalil Illan and had a great experience. I am 3 1/2 months post op and have lost 50 lbs. The hospital rooms were modern and the nurses were friendly and attentive. The valets with BariatricPal are wonderful. I am going back next month as my sister's companion. Believe me when I say that I wouldn't let her do this unless I had 100% confidence in Dr. Illan. She is my baby sister, best friend and a mother to two small children.

Thank you. I'm just trying to make the most of this amazing opportunity. And I wish the same success to everyone reading.
My mom had the sleeve; my dad had the bypass, and my brother had the band. As a family, we have all the bases covered!

blizair09 - You are inspiring! Your meal list is very helpful. Just curious if your family members had the sleeve or bypass?

I really need to do meal prep on Sundays and then my week would be so much easier.

And I'll add that my mom, dad, and brother all had bariatric surgery (sleeve, bypass, and band respectively) over the past many years. I have watched them all have success and then go back to their old ways and ultimately fail. (My mom less so than my dad and brother. She has only regained about 30 pounds. They have regained everything.)
I can't fail because I remember the horrible depressed feeling that came about from the myriad of times I have regained weight after a regular diet. I can't even imagine how I would feel if I regained weight after having put my body through the trauma of surgery.
This is as big a part of my approach as the food addiction and weight itself...
