I think a lot of relationship issues come down to communication. Never assume what the other person is thinking or feeling.
You guys might benefit from talking through some things...First, maybe he doesn't really know much about the how the surgery works or the medical issues that contribute to obesity. My husband was hesitant when I first brought up wls, but the more he learned, the more he understood and accepted my decision. Would he be willing to learn more by going to a Drs appt or support group with you?
Secondly, you might want to talk more about why he doesn't want you to have the surgery. Is he worried about your health? Is he feeling insecure about you becoming healthier or more attractive? Is he afraid you won't be able to do or enjoy things you used to?
Once you each understand more about each other's perspective, you might be able to reach a better understanding.

drop him and run.... run as fast as you can. Trust in the fact that if he can't support you now... he won't support you in the future.
He doesn't want you to get surgery because of his insecurities..... trust this.... I know. Im not saying that you don't have confidence now.... but wait till you start shedding pounds....
My husband made these too me...... you are too skinny... you look like a bag of bones.... i liked your face when it was full, it didn't show the winkles like it does now.... I loved you more when you were fat..... your losing weight was the worst thing that happen to our marriage.... and on and on and on. and we were/still married for 25 years.
don't invest any more time in someone that can't support your choices to get healthy and happy.

I had my surgery last March. Mine went very smoothly and I have lost 75 pounds since then. Post-op wasn't too bad. The first day, I mostlly slept off the anesthesia. The second day I just took it easy and only moved around when I had to. The worst of it for me was shoulder pain from the gas. Do not keep it in!! It gets better with time, but the shoulder pain will linger for a while. I had my procedure on Thursday and was back to work on Monday. Just wore elastic waist paints for a few days until I felt more comfortable. Good Luck! I hope all goes well for you!

I had lap band surgery in October. Initially post surgery I had a lot of shoulder pain from the anesthesia. Walking helped. I also needed to take a stool softener and laxative because I wasn't getting any Fiber from the Protein. Some people start on Benifiber as it dissolves in liquids. Your weight loss will be slower (I'm losing 10 pounds per month). I track my food on My Fitness Pal as it also tells me the nutrition breakdown. For me the band is a reminder. Chew, chew, chew. You are having WLS not fat removal. Be patient and follow the guidelines from your doctor. It isn't a race, but a lifestyle change. Your relationship with food needs to change to be successful.

I have alopecia and last year, I lost all my hair. Totally bald! It had just grown in to be just above my shoulders, and I'm slated for a February/March surgery so I'm terrified of post-op hair loss! I'm continuing to take my Biotin and my multivitamin, and I used Nioxin, a Shampoo for hair loss/creating thicker looking hair. We can definitely try to prevent as much Hair loss as possible!

The pre-op liquid diet will mess with you head badly! I nearly backed out after jumping through hoops to get my passport (as I went to Mexico to have mine done as I got tired of the hoops from the insurance company). It's normal!

I started my surgery process (initial seminar) 9/15. I had all the appointments & testing done & was set to have surgery 1/16. I ended up having to postpone surgery because of low Iron. I finally got my surgery 9/26/16 so like you it was a year later. I did feel that way at the end! The liquid diet presurgery was so hard! I had a good recovery & am really happy I was patient & still went ahead with it! I am down 60 lbs in almost 4 months! It was definitely a tough road getting there, but the best decision for myself!

I was worried too, because I am the primary caregiver to my handicapped husband. My doctor said I'd be back to driving in a week, but I actually drove 2 days after surgery. I never had pain, and I feel well enough to do whatever I was doing before surgery. I can grocery shop and run short errands. I just have not attempted to push his wheelchair yet. The doctor said I could, and that I could lift 25 lbs.

Had gastric sleeve nov 11, 2016! Hasn't been easy! I was in and out of the hospital with dehydration and stomach spasms causing me to vomit constantly! I'm doing much better now and these results make it seem worth it finally! Don't give up! You're gonna get to where you want to be! Have a blessed Friday!
