Another problem with counting pills... sometimes we guys are overly “optimistic.” viagra takes some time to kick in so if we anticipate wrongly (who us?!) it can go to waste. As far as not telling her I know from experience that some women assume we can turn it on and off at will and assume if there is an issue with this imaginary on/off switch that there is a problem with attraction, and no matter what you say they grill you about it endlessly, so you learn it’s best to just not even bring the subject up at all, which in the case of ED medicine means not telling them about it at all.

My first impression is, as long as the amount of missing pills matches the sexual encounters, she should keep it to herself and be glad he is addressing an issue that effects them both. Vitality is an important thing to men feeling like a man. He may see it as a blow to his ego.
I'm 54 and I use it. I don't go telling everyone about it, although my wife knows. Keep in mind that it works, but its not all that pleasant. There are unpleasant side affects that are uncomfortable. Also remember, men feel the performance pressure.
Just my .02 but what do I know.

I don't want to offend you, but my answer is based on personal experience. I've heard this from several women and they have all been larger women themselves. It had little to do with me or my health. It was based on their image of what THEY looked like. To put it plainly, they just didn't want to be the fatter one.

I'm 6-5 and I'm on a very large frame. Even at that size 270 (for me) would still be about 40-50 lbs overweight, unless you're doing some serious lifting and have but on some big muscle.

I know you love your wife, but don't let her personal issues interfere with your health.

I could also be totally wrong about the root cause, but the result is the same.

@DonRobbie I know that I don't walk in your shoes and that I don't understand the dynamic of your relationship, but your health must come before your wife's desires. If there is one thing that holds universally true it's that your body is the most important possession you'll ever own. It's taken me quite a bit of time to understand that one myself - which is what's bringing me to surgery to finally lose (and hopefully) keep the weight off.

Exactly, most of the attention I've received has been from women with significant others. It really starts to make you wonder about relationships in general.

It depends on several factors. We are pretty close in height (6'-5") and I'm down to about 345 from a high of 640. My goal weight is 250 so I'm a reasonably large person to begin with. If you're on a smaller frame and have more to lose, you may have some. Genetics, age, how much excess weight, and how long you had it will all factor in. I can say that even with the excess, I'm still much happier and getting opportunities that I never had before.

Same here. Down from a 60/30 pant to a 60/32 (pants sitting higher I guess). Shirt went from 6x to a 4x. I've given away my wardrobe, twice. [emoji26]

I tried to hold out, but it got ridiculous. I've lost about 120lb since January. I went from a 6 -7x shirt down to a 4x (still a little baggy, but looks much better). I'm down to a 48 (actually a 47 at the tailor, but what can you do, lol) from a 60. The biggest change was underwear, 2x from a 6x. I've given away so many clothes it's ridiculous. I have one co-worker and his brother is close to my size, he basically got a whole new wardrobe.

This is very encouraging as I'm just at the point were I'm ready to do this HB you and Brian have some outstanding stats. Especially with the time you have both had. Considering today Is the 35th Birthday and I 3 weeks away from surgery I have to say I'm determinate more so now than ever after going thru a 6 mo program and jumping thru all the hoops.

@DownsizingDonnathank you. I have been going to my monthly support groups at my surgeon. Most of them are for those who had surgery and who haven't had surgery. They only have the ones for veterans (6 months out+) every other month at the location I go to. There are other locations but they are harder for me to get to.

@kristin_pasley Thank you so much! I get/got those comments too. I still get the whole "you are tall and carry weight well" I am 5'10. Even though I'm 245 pounds I wear a size 14/16 bottom and 12 top. Also, even though I have lost almost 300 pounds some people in my family who have sharp tongues still say things like 1'you have such a pretty face, your body will catch up". It's frustrating. I don't know what my weight goal should be anymore. i'm glad I could inspire you. Good luck with your surgery! I can't wait to see your before and afters.

@melissa39437Thank you! I'm trying to make myself believe that!

    @spowellAww thanks!!

@sleevebabeAww! Thank you so much! Fear is a terrible thing! It is so hard to change the fat mentality. I am struggling with it a lot.

@Brittany1225 Thank you! I can't wait to see your before and afters! I am glad I could inspire you.

@HB76356 WOW! You have done amazing! Good luck on your journey with the sleeve! It's true that now I'm meeting people who didn't know me when I was 540 and they only know me now. Honestly I find it harder to deal with people who DID know me before I lost the weight because I feel they ALSO have the fat mentality with me. When I was 540 I couldn't do a lot of active or even hardly active activities. Now I can do SOOO much and my friends still treat me as if I am unable to do these things. They do all these active things that I would have WANTED to do and they don't invite me because they still have the mentality that I CAN'T! It's not helping much...

@reallyrosy they mental process is definitely harder than the physical one.

@WhtWdUGive620Aww thank you! Honestly, your message made me tear up. I'm so glad I could be an inspiration for you and my venting could help you! Good luck in getting back on track! We can do this!

@GotProlactinoma Aww! Thanks! It really did. I needed to just get out my feelings and thoughts. I'm glad my venting was able to inspire others though.

I think I get what you mean. I started at 470 (from a high of 640), but you're right at my goal weight now (250). My sleeve was in January (I'm down to 360) as of today.

I'm learning that my weight was a bit of a crutch. If anything went wrong it was because I was fat. I never had to focus on any other part of life because I could just fall back on it.

Now that the weight is going away I'm meeting people who never saw me at my heaviest. They're going to judge me based on a myriad of things. I can't just hide behind the weight and it's very scary.

For example: I never had to worry about approaching women really and nobody really thought it was strange since I was so big, now I'm being expected to behave more "normally" and its pretty scary.

I've actually had thoughts like: well, what if you just stay a little fat, then it's a bit of a compromise. Your brain can be your own worst enemy sometimes.

It sounds like you're doing everything you can (therapy and such). You've made amazing progress! I try to focus on how much of my life I have back, that might help in the short term.

I am new to this board. Lots of very encouraging stories on this one. I just got sleeved on 7/19. I am doing pretty good. I am almost down below the 400 mark for the first time in a long time. Looking forward to continuing down this journey and I just want to thank all of you who have shared your stories. It is very inspiring to see what I have to look forward to from people who were as big as me. Keep up the great work everyone!!!

I lost a lot of muscle since the surgery so I started back with Stronglifts. It's a pretty basic strength program and they have an app to track your workout. I do that MWF and go to boxing Tues and Thurs. I take weekends off.

Also, when you start with the weights don't be surprised about a small weight gain. Like a pound or too.
