  1. Sounds good! Bet you will do great! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  2. Before or after surgery? How did you know you had a problem? Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  3. At only 3 weeks post op, you will possibly still be sore and tired. You'll be well off to say you had a hernia operation and you have to take it easy. Explains your diet too. Make sure to bring a pillow in case of coughing or laughter! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  4. Line up 200 patients, and 1 will get the leak. 2 will have blood clots. 6 will get an infection. 50/50 chance that 1 will die. 96 (!) will get worse heartburn. Statistics off the top of my head... #s could be a bit off... But, the point is that there are risks, but they aren't overwhelming. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  5. I just woke up one day a couple weeks ago and just knew! I have no idea where the idea came from.... I WAS thinking about being embarrassed to go to a family reunion. I never thought about or knew anything about the surgery before (not for 20 years, anyway). Still debating between bypass and sleeve. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  6. How wonderful! You look great, and your daughter is so sweet! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  7. I posted too quick.. I meant it is common and no big deal usually! Good luck! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  8. I did a quick search, and others have had that happen. If the fever gets over 102, go ahead to the hospital even if you feel ok. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  9. A fever in general isn't usually worrisome until it gets over 102F. But, I have seen serious conditions with lower fevers. I think just monitor yourself... don't take any fever reducers. If you start feeling bad, don't hesitate to go to any hospital if you can't make the preferred one. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  10. What do you mean, random hospital? Do you have a blood pressure cuff? If so, take your blood pressure just to see how that is doing... Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App Were you sent home on antibiotics? Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  11. Are you gonna be on that diet for 2-3 months before surgery? Did the surgeon recommend it? Wondering if I should do something similar... Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  12. Hoping.. You're welcome I'm sure he would feel more "a part of things" too! Torriluv, glad if that tidbit helps Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  13. So glad they are taking this seriously! Good job getting the treatment you need! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  14. Congrats! Thanks for the tip! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  15. Sounds like a good time to consider losing the band and getting a sleeve. Talk to your doc! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  16. I was just thinking about this myself. I have generally weighed myself once a year for the last decade. Why change it up? Well... maybe I'll move it to once a month after the surgery. (Fingers crossed). Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  17. No smile? I think you are beautiful in both pictures. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  18. Oh man! Can you imagine? Husband is in waiting room, and someone comes out... first words are "I'm sorry" ????!!!! Glad he didn't have a heart attack! Good luck on round 2! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  19. Trekker, well, sounds like I need to focus on a slightly smaller #! Wasn't thinking about regain. Thanks! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  20. Oh, meant to say... I would hold off on surgery if possible until you see if the weight loss helps the symptoms. Good luck! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  21. Carpal Tunnel is often caused or worsened by obesity. I know that is my problem at least Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  22. Oh, well that makes sense Sounds like they have figured out how to get him the care after all though... Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  23. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App I think part of it is that I have a fear (manifested by my mother - yeah, thanks again mom!) that when I lose the weight I'm going to have all of this excess skin that I won't have the money to have removed and my insurance won't cover it because "it's cosmetic...not medical". I hadn't even thought of that until my mom pointed it out to me. The other thing was my oldest son telling me that he was afraid of going off into the Navy and coming home and not recognizing me because me being morbidly obese was all he's ever known. I'm concerned about the skin too... but I am more concerned about diabetes and high blood pressure. I LIKE the feeling of compression wear (Under Armor), so figure I'll just wear that a lot. You can send weekly pics to your son so he can see the progression! I bet that isn't really a true concern for him anyway, just an off hand comment. It is MUCH easier for other people to get used to changes in you then it is for you to embrace the change yourself! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  24. Huh.. when I put weight on my elbows, my hands go to sleep too! @@Hoping052017 . I am 5'8, (currently 307lbs... heaviest weight ever). I once was 145lbs (size 10 jean), for all of a couple of months. My "normal" weight should be 140lbs, which I haven't been since elementary school. Anyway, my mental self-image is of someone that carries an extra 50lbs.(not 150!) If I were to lose that last 50, I would have some identity restructuring work to do... Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  25. Awesome! Congrats on the fast tracking. You'll be on the losers bench before you know it! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
