  1. I agree that it sounds like low blood pressure, from dehydration, and/or electrolyte imbalance. We are so used to everyone saying salt is the bad guy, it is easy to forget we need it! cheese has some, but many of the other recommended foods don't. Start salting meats, potatoes, eggs, etc. Regular V8 is a good idea if tummies can handle the tomatoes. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  2. Thanks everyone! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  3. Oh, and from your questions, it looks like you aren't very familiar with the surgery yet. Spend a LOT of time researching! You don't know what you don't know. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  4. Yes, insurance slows things down considerably. People that want a surgery more quickly are self pay. Look up surgery in Mexico for reasonable rates. (Around $5000). What is happening in June? Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  5. Most surgeons don't allow weight lifting for at least 30 days. Always clear exercise with them! In the meantime, walk, lotion, Protein, Vitamins, and Water. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  6. I enjoy a good enema for quick relief. You can get them at the grocery store, walmart, pharmacy... Fleet is a good brand. Get several while you are shopping! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  7. If you are less than 4 months out, I wouldn't worry about it. You have undergone a major surgery! If it has been longer than 4 months, then practice might help! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  8. Well, I am in the same part of my journey (planning), and it looks like it will be low carb for the losing phase, and moderation during maintenance for me. Of course, I think this is a great question (and I'm posting so I can see others' responses). Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  9. Some people get a longer presurgery diet. Depends on BMI, preexisting conditions, etc. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  10. Sounds like it. Some dumping is immediate, some delayed. What did you eat for dinner? Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  11. Try it both ways to see what you prefer.... but I think it is designed to just put straight in the blender. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  12. I'm glad she is going to be ok. You are right about the slap... But, such slaps can go 2 ways. They can make you afraid of the surgery, but they can also make you afraid to keep living the way you have been. Each of us has only 1 life. We need to live it well... Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  13. I believe well cooked cabbage should be ok, raw wouldn't be. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  14. My husband and I are both morbidly obese. I want to change, he doesn't. I will be getting the surgery and dropping pounds, and he'll stay the same. Maybe one day, with my positive example, he'll come around. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  15. While you are waiting to be seen... if you start having lung symptoms.. cough, shortness of breath, etc, get to the ER, pronto. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  16. Thanks Bill, I will once I get a bit further in my research phase. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  17. Wow, sounds like no one actually does 3 meals and no snacks! (I'm happy to see it because it is hard to imagine getting the nutrition in with so few meals ). Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  18. You have had a rough go of it! Let us know what the doc says. When I had shingles, I was 6 weeks pregnant and also had Strep. I took the antibiotics for strep, but couldn't take anything for the shingles. Went away on its own after 6 weeks or so. It's amazing how these things come in clusters! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  19. I am so excited by this post. I have been wearing the same pants style for 8 years... but at $60 a pop, I won't be able to afford rapid size changes. I love the idea of buying clothes that will fit multiple sizes! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  20. When I make broth now (preop), I simmer the meat for a couple hours, strain, and chill it overnight, scrape off the fat, leaving a jello-like broth left. Heat to melt, and mix into recipe. Would this work post-op? It seems like everyone talks about boullion (which I don't like). Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  21. Where was your shingles rash? The rash can present anywhere along (and to the side of) the spinal column. Mine wrapped around under a breast. If yours was low, originating in the tailbone area, then I wouldn't be surprised if it affected your legs. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  22. I have been comparing post op diets from different surgery centers, and even the maintenance portions vary. Johns Hopkins recommends eating 3 meals and two snacks (one snack is just a cup of milk). Baha Bariatrics recommends 3 meals and no snacks. My pre-op self eats constantly, although I have eaten anything from 2 -5 meals a day while dieting before with good (albeit temporary) results. What do y'all do? Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  23. I am going to try going through my insurance, but if too many hurdles are presented, I'm thinking of using Baha Bariatrics as well. (I live in Maryland, so travel is an issue). Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  24. I think you just need a hug! [Hug] They are doing hysterectomies on little 8 week old kittens. You'll be fine! (And feel better once healed up without all that blood loss each month.) Sometimes they do the hys. vaginally, so no scars. Ask about it. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  25. Might be a bit much food, and the celery might be tough on the pouch (thinking of the "strings"). Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
