Juicing
Juice your vegetables, eat your fruits. If you like the idea of juicing spinach and other low carb veggies, that would work.

angry and betrayed
Yes, I would be angry too. [Hugs] Do you want a devil's advocate? (The up side to things?) If not, don't bother reading below. 1. Now you know your system doesn't like painkillers, so you can take steps to prevent constipation during your sleeve journey. 2. It is recommended to not get pregnant for a couple years after bariatric sugery, which would have run you out of time anyway. 3. Just because you can't get pregnant doesn't mean you can't be a parent. 4. You are getting the painful procedures out of the way so you can focus on feeling better going forward. 5. No pregnancy means no required weight regain. 6. The sleeve will be a simpler surgery, with fewer potential complications long-term.

I have also never worn white pants. Thanks for giving me something to aspire to!

Stomach Upset
Seems like most people have problems with water after surgery. Herbal teas are great ways to get fluid. Shop around for other calorie free, uncarbonated liquids to have variety.

EGD done
Many times they will. You'll just have to ask.

Can I do this?
The doc may have said that to get you riled up. As in.. "I'll show her!" If you want to lose weight, eat nothing but meat and nonstarchy vegetables. Unless your metabolism is absolute toast, that will knock some pounds off. No drinking calories. You can do this! Have a good cry, then get mad!

How to get husband back on board?
My husband is also concerned for my safety, but knows that once I set my mind to something, it is pointless to fight it I liken this adventure to those brave/fools that jump out of a perfectly good airplane with a little strip of cloth that is supposed to slow down their descent. They have a risk of coming down in a bad way..injury or death. AND..THEY..DO..IT..FOR..FUN Yes, we take a risk. But we do it to hopefully avoid the risks of obesity. If he is willing to pay the extra, I guess you could compromise by doing it in the States. Just remind him you will be needing vitamins, supplements, and new clothes.

After I Eat (sadface)
Diarrhea and constipation are both common for a while. (If that is the question).

After I Eat (sadface)
Does it look the same going out as what went in? If not, then you are seeing a prior meal's remains. It is a reflex in babies (and some adults) that after they eat, they go poo. If it looks like it literally is the same food that you just ate, that needs to be brought up to your doctor.

My Story....Feb 27th date
Good for you! (And your anesthesiologist!)

Gallbladder removal
Cross your fingers that the surgery date is soon enough.

Solids still hurt
You are still early out. For the next while you can expect to chew to applesauce consistency. About 20-30 chews per bite. Hope this helps!

Trying to decide
Bleonhardt, you may not be out of the woods yet as to hair loss. It often is a delayed occurrence. If you make it a year, then you're home free

How to get husband back on board?
I am going to Dr. Illan by myself in a couple weeks. It can be done! I hate for your husband to be so skittish..

Psych Evaluation
You know, the preop diet is making me lose weight like crazy, and I am a blubbering fool! I cried in church during the sermon! (It was a sad story at least!). Not pms.. not that part of the month.

Need help starving.....
Check gallbladder. Flat diet ginger ale, or other morning sickness remedies. There are accupressure/acupuncture points for nausea.. do some research or go to a practitioner. If you find something that helps, let us know!

FAD DIETS after WLS
Doctors pretty much promise that if we follow the plan, that we'll lose weight. We trust them at their word, and pass it along. The occasional person will have an unusual metabolism or hormone imbalance that would cause wls to fail. Those individuals need specialized care to see if their underlying problem can be fixed. The general wls community can't be expected to know whether they are talking to that rare bird, or the typical patient that is falling off the wagon.

Two Years out-now frequent vomiting?!
Have your gallbladder checked too. As well as things like UTI. Hope they figure it out!

3 week post op loss ?
First off, during the first two months post surgery, your stonach is still healing. Please be sure to follow the prescribed diet. Secondly, never weigh yourself the first month. Your body is in chaos and weight is a non-issue. Thirdly, many of those with 30lb losses in any month are either very high bmi, or had complications. The average first month loss is 15lbs, and 10lbs thereafter. Normal for you might be higher or lower. Stick to your plan, and you'll do well!

Post op depression, is there such thing?
Personally, I have found the more carbs I eat, the hungrier I am. Fruit might be what is causing that for you. Try to keep eating to designated meals and Snacks. Start with 3 meals and two snacks, and see how you do. Snacks could be cheese and nuts... stuff like that.

Any regrets?
Would it be possible to keep some snack bars with you? Eat a few bites every couple hours between patients. The snack bars should be something like oats+ peanut butter+choc. Protein powder. No sugar. Eating two Snacks + lunch during your shift should help. Breakfast and dinner before and after. Bedtime snack if needed. Hope this gives some ideas.

Pre Surgery Nerves and No Special Diet - Need Advice
Caution: If you are diabetic, do what you need to to stay at a good blood sugar range. Disregard the above plan if it is contraindicated by your personal health concerns. Oh, and I realized that I said the shakes had no carbs.. you do need some each meal. The powder can have next to none, but the milk will have some. Aim for 40 grams of carbs a day.

Pre Surgery Nerves and No Special Diet - Need Advice
I should add, the clear liquids can and should have calories. Lots of broth and some regular jello would be good. Too much sugar will make you sick, especially if you are diabetic. Broth... get a whole chicken and simmer it for several hours in a large pot (include the giblets, carrots, celery, onions and the like) I add a tablespoon of italian herbs and salt and pepper to taste. Start with half a teaspoon of salt, a little goes a long way. Drain and put broth in the fridge overnight. In the morning, scrape off the fat, and you have jello-like broth. Freeze the extra.. but you can drink as much as you want. Meanwhile the chicken meat can be removed from the bones and turned into chicken salad or what have you...

Donating blood
I should add, my husband has never donated, so to get him to do so would be a challenge/win.
