  1. I know what you mean! I had a fill last week. I had one egg and half a piece of whole wheat toast for Breakfast, not a single problem. not the first time i've had bread either, ugh! now i have to dig deep and go at this another 2 weeks before I can get another fill. great great great =(! I haven't had any problems at all. It's scary, really scary! I'm still losing, so I'm doin something right!
  2. I was wondering the same thing today! Glad you asked this!! I'm gonna put a call in to my nut tomorrow and see what she says.
  3. Sorry that she is treating you like this. It sucks I know. Just hang in there. Seems like you're doin all the right stuff, so def stick with it. If you can do it now then you'll see so much success. Sorry too that she's still angry. Just come to us and vent! we're here to help!
  4. hooray!! congrats! jwrn-keepin my fingers crossed for ya! tell us when ya know!
  5. Hi to all of ya! I am Jennifer. DH is in the Navy, just hit his 2 year mark. He's stationed in Pax River, MD but I am at my home in Tucson, AZ (near Davis Monthan) He's being deployed the end of this year, and then he'll have 6 more months in, and will be switching his rate. He's currently supossed to be a police officer but is doing security work, and hates it. He wants to do something that is actually what he signed up to do. Anyways, my surgery was a month and a few days ago. I feel wonderful. I too was worried about the what I wouldn't get to eat, or want to eat. But it's not been bad at all. I decided that I'd rather be happy about the way I look, be ok with going out in public and playing with my kids. I've always wanted to take my son down the slide or swing with him. Now I'm on my way to doing all of those things. My mom had this done a year ago and she's lost 117 pounds. When I talked with her about having this done, she told me she wishes this was something she could have done 30 years ago. I decided since Tricare covered it, I had no reason not to have it done. So here I am. I already have alot more energy and am excited to do everything I possibly can to work this tool to it's fullest! Good luck on approvals and surgeries! I can't wait to see us all progress!
  6. When I went to see my pcm he was totally ok with giving me a ref. but he said I should try to gain to make sure that I got approved. I ended up gaining about 15 pounds before my surgeon consult. Everything worked out well. It was actually hard to gain though. I had to eat A TON of food. It was horrible. But now I have been banded for a month and I love it. I haven't had one single issues. oh and it took me about 2 months to get everything done too but that was because I couldnt get my records from my darn ob, so that was really irritating! But from submittal to approval to surgery it was less than 3 weeks!
  7. Target and Walmart sell them but it's hit or miss. I've been searching for one too and have yet to find one. Good luck! If I find 2 I'll be happy to pick one up for ya. Also people sell them on ebay all the time, they usually go for around $130.
  8. thats awesome! keep up the hard work! i weigh myself once a week. I've found if i I put the scale up high and have to get a step stool or ask someone to get it for me I don't obsess about it. You just have to remember that our weight fluctuates from day to day, so if you hop on and it's higher don't get discouraged!
  9. can you update me please?! I'm down 22 now! Thanks!!
  10. I had pain the first day with bending and twisting, but the next day I was fine. The first time it was pretty bad. My nurse suggested trying to stand up and then hunch over a little and that helped a whole bunch. Good luck! You'll do great!
  11. wow sorry that it hurt! mine was today and I had zero pain. i didn't have an xray or anything either. The doc stuck the needle right through my large incision, so no pain, then pushed the saline in, pulled it out and measured then put it back in. I got 3cc today. I feel wonderful too! It's the greatest feeling in the world! But very hard to be on liquids again, but I can handle it for the rest of the week!!
  12. Had my first fill this morning. Everything went beautifully. I was really worried about the pain, but all I felt was a tiny pinch and then some pressure. But it was a piece of cake! I had to drink 3oz of water. It was the strangest feeling ever! But I felt full! It was incredible! I am on clear liquids today, full liquids tomorrow and then mushies for 2 days, then back to normal. I'm so happy! I was down 4 more pounds too! So it's been a good day here!! Started to feel hungry just about 20 mins ago, mind you I had my fill at 10am, and I started to feel hungry around 4:30! Thats amazing to me! I can't wait to finally get started!! :cool2:
  13. i try to stick with the popsicles. but the original fudgesicle (ff/sf of course) is so yummy! I have also tried a scoop of neopolitan and it was ok. bit of an aftertaste but notbad. that was from dreyers.
  14. Tricare does move really fast! Mine went fast too and I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. But it was a wonderful experience! Good luck to you! and congrats!!!
  15. my vote is to go see your ob. sometimes these things don't work out on their own. So best to go see your doc, if nothing else he/she can give you suggestions on how to make it better!
  16. i had to stay overnight, but it wasn't bad! It was a nice break from my kids! lol!
  17. Tee- The whole process took me almost a month. From PCM visits to surgery, was only like 23 days. It was not long at all. The part that took the longest was getting my records from my ob/gyn, because that was the only doc i had seen in 5 years. So in reality it took me about a month and a half. But from the time I saw my pcm to surgery was less than a month.
  18. So it's been 3 weeks since surgery for me, thought I'd share my scar pics. They are healing beautifully. Even my stretch marks look better! oh and I have one more tiny one up between my boobs, but taking self pics it's hard to include that one, but it's seriously small!
  19. I have 2 kids, one is 3 and I told him no picking him up for 2 weeks, no questions asked. But my daughter is 7 months and I picked her up the night I got home. I had to. My husband is away so I had no one else to pick her up in the middle of the night to feed her. I tried not to pick her up too much, but I did what I felt comfortable doing. I'm 3 weeks out and I can pick her up with no problems and have been for at least a week now. You just have to take it slow and do what you feel ok with. I really had no pain afterwards so I was ok. I did talk with my surgeon before hand and he said I should be ok with picking her up. He said to make sure I dont pick her up from the floor though. So I'd keep her in her jumper or pack n play so I could get her up. Good luck!
  20. good for you! all we can do is take it one day, one step at a time! we're all gonna mess up and have bad days, so don't beat yourself up too much. We're all human! As far as recipes go, I did mashed potatoes, campbells select soups (portobellos mushroom was my fave), beans, cottage cheese with canned peaches, steamed veggies (esp zuchinni and squash w/a little seasoning)
  21. i'm not sure on this, as my doctor told me not to use a straw until after my 2 week check-up. I've been using it everyday since then and it hasn't made any difference for me. I've had NO gas. So I really can't help answer the question but it seems like my doc is ok with me using one.
  22. my surgeon just sent in a new one for the fills and it was approved immediatley.
  23. hoooray for approval! I can't help with the inpatient/out thing but I didn't have to do any of the pre-tests either. I had to have some blood drawn and that was it. Don't be afraid to call Tricare!! I can understand what you mean, but call them or the surgeon if you're worried.
  24. girl all I can say is appeal appeal appeal. Its gonna take alot of hard work on your part, getting letters and things from doctors, but I'd def appeal. Your bmi is high enough with your co-morbs that you should be approved. Call them and talk to them. I know that you are bummed, I'm sad for you too. But hang in there and keep your head high. Everything will fall into it's place. {{BIG HUGS}}
  25. OMG OMG OMG! you are frickin gorgeous! You are truly inspiring! I love the dresses btw!! what a great idea!! thank you so much for sharing these with us! You look amazing!!
