  1. I had to stay overnight too. My surgeon said he would have let me leave yesterday because I was doing so well, but that Tricare required that I stay overnight? I dunno maybe it's different in each state
  2. I use EAS Myoplex lite. The vanilla one has an after taste but the chocolate and strawberry are pretty darn good! I also have the plain powder they make and so far I haven't been able to tell when I add it to my drinks. Walmart is the obvious best place to buy them because they are the cheapest. But I found them at Fry's and Target too.
  3. Hooray finally my turn to announce that I am banded!! I went in yesterday and came home today, and I feel GREAT! I seriously only have a bit of tenderness in the middle of my belly. I only took one vicodin last night so I could fall asleep, and one again this afternoon so I could get good sleep in my bed. It was heaven to sleep in my bed! My surgeon said that I was his easiest patient yet!
  4. scheduled for the 16th, good luck!! I'll be with ya! I go in at 10:30! I can't wait!! I should be heading to bed but I am so excited I cant fall asleep!! Make sure ya'll check back in here when you are done!! and everyone else thats going after us, best of luck to all of you! This is gonna be a great month! :)
  5. I know its a probability that I am going to WANT to have it done. However my surgeon has not spoken a word about PS. It'd be nice if he'd have said at least a little bit about it, but nothin! Thanks to this board, and you, I am much better educated and fully anticipate that I'll be having ps after I get rid of all my weight!
  6. i got a magic bullet on ebay for 15 bucks with 5 bucks shipping and I LOVE it! Glad that I have it now that I'm going to be having surgery!!
  7. at first I didn't want to tell anyone. my mom had it done a year ago and she's the one who really convinced me that it'd be better to have it done now then to wait 40 years and end up like her, sad miserable and fat. So I live with my in-laws cuz dh is deployed, so I told them. Skeptical at first but I have talked with them about it and given details and such and now they are totally on board. My dad and step-mom, not so much. My step mother has always had an issue with me when I am thinner than her. she'd tell me i was fat when I was 13 and hat I should go on a diet, etc etc. So I told her about it and she has been trying to convince me to not have it done, postpone, do more research, just anything for me to not have it. But I DONT care anymore! I've told a few other friends and some people from church. I'm not ashamed of the decision to get healthy. My kids are 3 and 7 months and i want to be around a long time for them!
  8. First off, welcome! Glad to have you here! I am fairly new here too, but here is how I can help. I did not have to do a pre-op diet. I had to provide my diet history but didn't have to do a diet before. So I can't help on that part. But the other question, you are going to have to make a concious effort to change your habits. My mom had this done a year ago and before she was totally like you. She'd just eat cuz she was bored, had nothing to do, etc etc. So she started finding things to do to occupy her time. She started knitting, riding bikes, reading books, going to friends houses. Just anything to keep her mind off of food. Lap Band is a great tool and you can suceed if you put the work in. Good luck!! jenn
  9. hooray for bein on the other side! i'm not there yet so I can't help, but I hope you are feeling better now!!
  10. hey everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself! I just found out last week that my surgery is going to be on the 16th. So I am super excited, but also a bit nervous. This has gone WAAAY faster than I expected it to! So here is a blurb about me: My name is Jenn. I am 24. Married to my favorite person, who is a police officer in the Navy. We've been married 5 years (in Nov.) We have 2 beautiful babies, James will be 3 in July and Sophie is 7 months. I am an avid scrapbooker and I love going outside with the kids but am entirely too embarassed to do so. So I can't wait to get this weight gone! DH is deployed right now so he'll be coming home to a totally different me! Which will also be fabulous! I am happy to be joining all of you! I can't wait to give you an update on Tuesday after my surgery!:rolleyes2:
  11. hi there! can i be added to the list please?! I'm goin in on the 16th! Getting very excited!
  12. congrats!! best of luck to you on your new journey! I'll be joining you next week!! is the pain bad? i think thats the part i'm most nervous about. i have 2 little ones and I'm scared I won't be able to do much with them for weeks.
  13. Just wanted to shout hooray! I got a call from Tricare yesterday about my surgery! I was a bit confused because I hadn't gotten a call from my surgeon yet, and the lady from Tricare didn't tell me I had gotten approved. She was saying things like "are you getting excited" "are you ready" things like that and I was totally lost. Then my surgeon called and said that I should come in on the 5th for all my pre-op stuff and he'll give me my surgery date that day, which is usually not more than 2 weeks after pre-op! I'm so excited! So bouncing off the walls!!! The whole process has been less than 2 months! So happy!!! :wink2:
  14. wahoo!! congrats!
  15. well my surgeon is all ready to get everything sent I am just waiting on my awful PCM to get my records and letter sent to him. I'm so irritated! I called my dr's office 3 weeks ago and let them know that I'd need everything by the 17th (which was actually 5 days before I really needed it) and they still haven't sent it to him! UGH! I've been calling them everyday so hopefully they'll get tired of me calling and just get it taken care of! One can hope right??!
  16. Hey everyone! I am loving reading about everyone's journey! I just turned 24 and I am hoping to be banded this time next month. Right now I am just waiting for my stupid doctor to get my records and the letter or neccessity sent to my surgeon. Then the surgeon will be submitting everything to the ins and I should be getting banded! I am really excited! Mostly nervous about loose skin but not too nervous about the rest of it!
  17. I went in and had my psych eval today and she gave me the go ahead. Now I am just waiting for the stupid doctor to write my letter and send my records over...why must they take so long?? ugh! it's been 2 weeks! it's terrible! but once the surgeon gets all that they'll be submitting to Tricare and hopefully I'll have my surgery by this time next month!! Keeping my fingers crossed!
  18. yes my first appt with the surgeon was today! I am so excited! I am having my psych eval on the 22nd and then they will submit everything to the ins. and then I should be having my surgery this time next month.....as long as everything goes well!!! wahooO!
  19. Hi everyone! I am new to this board and I know that this post is really old but I'd love to hang out with fellow Tucsonians! I am seeing Dr. Jeff Monash who is in the office with Dr. Schwartz. I am not banded yet but I am totally on my way! Can't wait!! Oh and I am a scrapper too!! Lookin forward to chattin with everyone!
  20. Hi everyone! I just stumbled on this and glad that I found everyone here! I am not banded yet but I just saw my surgeon for my initial consult today. He said that everything should go through smoothly!! I'm excited and nervous too, just because I didn't expect everything to happen so quickly! But I'm happy it is! My hubby is deployed right now so when he gets back hopefully I'll be lookin much much better!!! I'm with you all on the disgust about all this FLDS crap. I hate that people associate us, it irks me to no end! Luu I am not going to be telling a whole lot of people either. I have told a few people and they have tried to convince me otherwise, but my bishop is totally on board with me. Plus DH is on board too so thats all that matters for me. Plus telling them that you 've started exercising and watching what you are eating is totally true! I don't think it's necessary to explain that you had a procedure done to help with it! I look forward to chatting with everyone! Jenn
  21. I just went today for my sugery consultation. Now I have to have my psych eval and then the surgeon will submit everything to Tricare for approval. I am really nervous that they aren't going to approve me! I have my psych eval on the 22nd of April and the doc said that I should be done with surgery and everything by this time next month!!! I'm excited but nervous too!! Anyone have any experience not getting approved for the surgery??
  22. HOORAY!!! CONGRATS!!!!!
  23. well i went to see my PCP and he sent in the referall quickly...thanks to Minipinmoms great Tricare sheet! But the next day Tricare notified him that they needed more clinical info. So I had to go have xrays done and had to have a glucose test done. I don't understand what this means. I am 265 and 5'3, so I fall in under the 200% over my ideal weight so I am totally lost why they are asking for all this clinical information. Maybe I should just call Tricare tomorrow?? Any suggestions? Thanks!
