Hey Gloria, so how are you doing? I,m 66 and looking at August for mine. I was worried about age also, but anything would be better than living like this (or yikes even maybe getting worse) for the rest of my life. Tired of being tired, can't breathe, can't really even exercise much. Did you have any problems or suggestions? Good luck

I see you have lost 26 lbs. though. Congrats on that. Be glad you can have real food now. Keep doing what you've been doing. This could just be a stall. Think of the 26 and give the scale a break. You,ve got this.

I wasn't very clear. What I meant was the ultimate goal for me to get to would be to have a plate with 3oz. Meat, 1/2 c veg. Portion of carb and actually believe and feel that is a meal. I know I am years from that, but I'm trying to get my head around it now in smaller doses. I have to be honest, that would look kind of a snack right now. But I have at times recently noticed more the real amount of what I've been eating. That's why I said I will only put in front of me the amt. I should be eating not what I want. Because if I have it in front of me , not for long. I need a whole headset before I start to give me a boost. No buffets, journal, weigh. And to vets, I have learned so much from y'all on here just browsing. Thank you and don't stop

Good for you for seeing this before it was out of hand. I haven't had my surgery yet to give you any pointers, but if you were a moderator, I'm sure you helped a lot of newbies. Just make yourself a newbie, and don't be afraid to listen to yourself or other vets. Sounds to me like you've been a strong person. You've got this.

Lynne, I can't give good advice as I won't have my surgery till August, but I sure have a lot of experience "dieting". It doesn't work and never will, because we "feel" restricted. As a human [emoji18] I do not like to be restricted. Here is what I plan on doing , but we all know what our plans do. I have been thinking a lot and self talking about my way of life. I don't want to eat different. I want to eat normal. I used to laugh when I would buy WW dinners, etc. and tell my hubby I can save money and lose weight doing it myself and only eat a nickel size helping of everything. I now realize the dinners were normal. I was not. So once I get through the initial parts of healing, etc. I would like to be able to eat healthy, yet eat all. I am not going to put extra food on table or my plate. I don't want to know "if" I can eat 8 ozs, etc. I only want to know my choices. Going to try not to tempt myself to see if at some point I actually do believe in my heart that I am happy and satisfied. I have been working on this and I did find if I don't drink when I eat, I lost 12 lbs in 10 days. It shocked me. It has slowed down now but that is going to be my main rule. Of course, I don't know if I will ever "think" or feel like all this is just my normal thinking, because I haven't been there yet. I can only hope and try my best and not sabotage myself. After 6 mos. I plan on going to counseling just to see where I stand. I already made the appt. I mean heck my thinking alone hasn't worked so far, so maybe new eyes will help. Good luck to you all. Just some thoughts. Thanks for letting me vent

Hi, well, saw my cardiologist in Erie Thurs. His major concern was where I,m having it. Good hospital and Drs, but no cardiac unit. 2 hr drive by ambulance. But he is only going to give moderate concerns for me, so it will be up to me. Since it is same hospital, just different city, I think I am going to see if they will accept my clearances, etc. and take me into their program. I have 5 more mos. to wait, but have already got almost all the clearances except a couple. Also have my weight loss going good. I hope so, because I will have second thoughts now if they won't. I have some blockages that cannot be fixed as too dangerous. So I guess we'll see. Wish me luck. Happy for all of you.

    Hi all,
I have been looking for some posts for people my age. I have even to seminar and waiting on my 1st appt phone call. My age has been my biggest drawback. Wish I had done this 15 yrs ago when it was offered to me. Now I have more health problems (mostly brought on by weight) I know that I have to do this. I think I'm just scared.

    Hey Chris,
Well, 3 days to seminar. I had an mri Monday. Dr. Calls today (Sunday??) to let me know he got report, they have recommended aerotic sonogram. So they are going to schedule it. It's beginning to feel like my monkey wrench has shown up. I'm like what does my back got to do with aeota? Still going to seminar. I have been so hyped. My husband will be retiring also. Same thoughts. He's thinking maybe sooner. He's been trying to make it 2 yrs because of differences in SS income. His shoulder and knees give him trouble, so might not make that long. I am in NW Pa. So you are not far. Enjoying our warm winter ); Waiting on my Steelers to come back today as winners. Lol chatting is always good for support. Good luck

    Hi,
I too am afraid of the surgery, but with all the people depending on you, won't you be better to do it in good health and be sure you are still there to help them. I'm sure they want you around a long time and in good health. I also have a family that needs a lot of my help. I try to think of it as, if I'm not here, what will they do then. Even though you can and should be selfish for yourself, I don't believe it really is. Think how much more you can be to you and them when you get through this. It sounds like you are a very caring and helpful person for everyone. Time to care for you. Ther

    Hi Chris,
I'm the same as you, going to my seminar the 25th. Can't wait to get started. I am 65, 1 daughter, 3 grandkids, 13 1/2 great grand kids. My biggest concern was my age, but hey, if I don't do anything, I won't have to worry about age. I am 5'6" and 250. My BMI is 41.3. Hope we can share our journey. Good luck!

I had the same worry. I've only been with pcp got about 6 mos. after a 25 yr with former dr. But went in and told him I had signed up for seminar and he said "with Dr. Wolf?" I said yes. He said that's great. That's the best help for diabetes and you other chronic problems including back and knees. ". Omg was I happy. This was Monday. They called me later to tell me my referral and records were all sent to wolf's and if there was anything they could do to help me, just let them know. Hope yours works out as well. I think it has been around long enough now that more Drs. Are aware of the benefits. Lol I had even practiced how I would beg. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
