I haven't had surgery yet but my nutritionist said the same. No untoasted bread or rice because it just sits there and swells up in the pouch and it will be uncomfortable and takes up the room where we would want our Protein. Other than that she doesn't want coffee because we have a higher risk of developing ulcers due to the caffeine and acidity. And of course we've all heard no carbonated drinks or straws. But she's said some people have issues with tolerating foods after and it can take up to 6 months to a year before you can, if at all. My mom had the RNY 10 years ago and still has issues with Pasta and beef getting stuck, and she'll have to make herself throw up to relieve the pressure in her chest. But I'd much rather risk not being able to eat 1 or 2 foods than being so overweight. Good luck on your journey!

My MD never restricted straws. I've used them from day one no problem at all. I'm actually able to drink more using a straw than not. I'm not almost 7 mths out

I was off 3 weeks. It wasn't until the 5 week that I felt my energy return. I was dead that 1st week back to work. It gets better as you increase what you can eat

I was the same way at 2 weeks out. Hang in there. It gets better I promise. You'll have no regrets. It took me about 4 wks to start feeling better.

I have been stalling on and of several times, but can't complain. Love my new life - or better said - finding my old self: kayaking, enjoying the outdoors etc. I feel my own skinn suits me better than in a long while.

We've hit our six month mark. How is everyone doing? I'm down 66 pounds. Have stalled this last week but still progressing.

Was waiting for my ride after cardiac and pulmonary clearances yesterday (well, nearly: have to do an at-home sleep study). But a guy asked me what I was there for and I told him. He tells me that I could lose weight by drinking a lot of water: since Water has no calories, I should just keep my stomach full of water. Ohhh . . . should I just go ahead and cancel the surgery, then? 'Cause, you know, that sounds easy!
You should have told him he needs to keep his mouth full of a water and shut the hell up. Lol

It gets better. My first time I couldn't drink enough Water to stay hydrated during my workout. I now do Zumba and kettle bells back to back 2 hr class three times a week.

It took me close to 12 wks before I could get back in the gym. I tried earlier at around 8 weeks but I struggled with low energy due
To only eat about 600 calories a day, and couldn't even drink enough to hydrate during my exercise. -
I loved McDonald's cheeseburger before surgery but now I can't eat it. The meat taste like gristly. Never notice it before

I had the same surgeries. pain in chest from swallowing lasted
About 4 months until I could finally drink enough liquids. -
