Seconding @Creekimp13, we plant based folks are always there in the vegan/vegetarian thread. As for losing muscle mass, hmm?? I’m gaining muscle mass. I’m about 9 months post as well. Check out the recipe thread for some good stuff too.
Want a salty crunchy snack: roasted Broad Beans. Low fat popcorn.
As for Protein, I don’t count it, but I do eat a lot of grains, legumes, and veggies. Doc hasn’t had an issue with me not getting enough. So, I can’t help ya in that arena, but I do know these foods all have protein.

Best I’ve had! Very healthy full of vitamins/nutrients. I even mix it with Orgain. 1 scoop of each is 30 grams of Protein & 60 more calories with 2 cups of almond milk. They both come in different flavors.

I use the Bariactive brand I had to stop the chewables because my palette wasn't having it ,so I switched to the ones you swallow .On the Calcium I have to cut it and morter and pestle it up and put it in a yogurt just because they are to big for me to swallow right now, the Multivitamin I also put in yougurt as well its in capsule for .As for my B12 it comes in a nasal spray and I do Gummy Biotin and b-complex.

You haven't ruined your life, your just going through the funeral phase.
{putting old habit to death} Eventually you will be able to enjoy going out to eat with your friends, you will just have to change the things you order {eat} no more crap you will have to eat slower and enjoy the conversation more.
You have to learn healthier eating habits.
You'll have to experiment with different foods until you find new favorite foods but you will find things that you enjoy that are healthier, give it a chance.
You will be able to incorporate some of those old foods into your new lifestyle,
{in moderation} just be careful you don't want to end up needing and weight loss surgery..Again.

Have fun with it, exploring new recipes enjoy your new lifestyle. It's not the end of the world, It's the beginning of your new lifestyle...
It takes time to mature into your new lifestyle, I'm still learning. Belief me, you might be missing that old lifestyle {Donut} right now but you with love the new you so much.
Eventually those old eating habits will be a thing of the past. You will think about that yummy bullshit food occasionally but it gets better and better..
You will not want to eat that crap food anymore, as you mature you will learn better eating habits.
You'll find yourself looking at people like why is he or she putting that bullshit food in their body..
It gets better, but try not to start point out the bad foods to your friends every time you're around them, they might resent it and dislike being around you
    The health nut...
    Imagine that LOL...

i have my share of issues since surgery but regret isnt one of them. Im happy with my progress so far even though its on the slow side. This has been such an eye opener for me to realize what the heck i have been doing to my body for years and not even caring. I take the time to read the labels and learn more about this process. Would I like to eat some of the things i used to? sure...do i want to go back to feeling miserable because one of those foods sent my blood sugar soaring through the roof....absolutely not. We all have to make some sacrifices now and again. bad food easy choice to bounce out of my life. One lady on this thread made a good point....its the age and maturity. Experiences play a key role if you cant learn from the bad ones then you havent grown and matured yet. It does take time...lol it took me to age 44 to finally grow up. some take longer than others but i hope those who are struggling learn quicker than me. my only regret i didnt grow up sooner

Honestly this isn't an easy surgery to go through for anyone.....some heal faster than others and some don't. Some people can get majority of their liquids in and others can't even meet half of their daily intake. It's a mental thing all around. Take longer walks through out the day to get your mind of the pain or just do extra things around the house. If your just moping around then that makes u think more about the negatives. 3 weeks out is a pretty decent time where u should be able to be out and about with friends. And reading your never going to eat your favorite foods again is bs. I know people personally who've had a successful surgery and have dropped over their goal weight and still have cheat days. It's all about you controlling yourself and saying ok I'm full I'm not going to continue eating this. When your able to eat regular foods again, meal prep for the week and then Friday or Saturday have a cheat meal and then get back on your meal prep the next day. Because if you just give up and just binge eat on all the bad foods that got u where u were before the surgery then the surgery was just pointless you know? It's all in your control! Just think of your goal weight and where u want to see yourself! Or even buy an outfit that u want to fit in by next summer and that can be another motivation for u! Don't give up because I'm rooting for you and I know you can do this...be strong for yourself and push through! [emoji1377][emoji171]

I get three full paddle brushes of hair a day .I take my Biotin and Multivitamins but its because we don't have enough Protein in our diets and that is part of what our hair is made of .I went to Armstrong McCall and they are ordering nioxin ,they have systems that are made for different hair types to put protein back into the hair and prevent/repair the hair strands .Hope this helps.

It is the quantity of food and my taste buds have changed as well tuna is out of the question right now for me it makes me nauseated and I LOVE tuna ,eggs , chicken, pork, beef Only organic tho ,fish, and my body is rejecting it everytime.I eat less dense food now pretty bland foods which is sad because I love flavor .I make my own hummus so theres some Protein there but I just don't know why my body is rejecting the main sources of protein . Liquids I can get in but not a full protein drink make 2 oz at a time but after that then I'm not interested in it because I would like some real food if that make sense. I am definitely going to talk to him next week and see what he says .

That is one main thing I crave all the time is a nice big salad.before my surgery I was a avid salad eater and now I miss that . I take my Calcium with D3 ,multivitamin, B12 every week , I have not started on the Iron as the side effects of iron is Constipation and I personally don't want that and I use the Bariactive Vitamins they come right to my door every month .I'm four months out from surgery . I just wish the craving for salad will go away one day .

Totally off topic, but your post gives me hope. I am still working on getting in all my Protein and Fluid requirements before being overly/full, so haven't incorporated many fresh veggies and no grains and carbs yet- and I'm 11 months post-op. Who knew my biggest craving, post-surgery, would be salad? I'm thankful I have good restriction, and am so happy with my progress so far, but I sure would love a big salad full of crunchy, fresh veggies!

Nioxin didn't work for me. Nothing has so far. I'm pre-sleeve. I have hormonal Hair loss. So between the hormones and the surgery, Protein, nutrients or whatever, I'll be buying a wig or sporting a shaved head!!!!

Anytime you notice a decrease in the amount you can consume, (I'm not talking about being extra full for a day or two.. but consistently being unable to eat as much).. contact your surgeon. It's a red flag for strictures.

Everyone is different. I eat eggs every day. Poached, hard boiled, they're my go to. And I'm not allowed carbs like bread and rice for 6 months. Red meats, I'm allowed after a month along with vegetables.

Try the poached eggs. They're not dry at all and it's easier to digest. Maybe try some chicken salad or tuna salad. Those I found to be the easiest right after surgery.

eggs are hard. I can only eat them fried or poached which is fine because that is the only way I like them anyway. Scrambled eggs are a disaster.
I could not have most red meats until month 6. I could only have ground beef.
Grilled chicken breast is dry and very hard to digest. I don't ever eat it unless it is on a salad, other wise it is too dry and hard to digest.
I don't eat bread, I hate rice so I can't help you there.
A lot of the stuff you are trying to eat are things that are going to be hard to eat for the first 6 to 12 months.

You're still really early out! I couldn't do eggs for six months, red meat was even longer... and I STILL can't do much bread unless it's toast. I don't include it in my diet usually anyway, no need to. Rice is another thing I still can't do. Carrots are iffy unless they are cooked.

I'm a little over 6 months out and can no longer eat eggs. They do not sit well with me and I usually feel sick right after eating them. Eggs are the only thing I can no longer tolerate.

I am two months out from surgery and my instructions are not to add rice and bread until at least 3 months out and not to add beef and pork until at least 6 months out.
Have you tried poached eggs. This is what I had when I first tried eggs and they went down easy.
