Ok, so my new taste test today! It's another winner at Triple D, the Digestion and Dumping Depot! You know, I'm a scratch cooker for the most part, but now that I'm having to do soft, wet cooking, I refuse to slave away in the kitchen making homemade sauces for wet food! You can call me Semi-Homemade Fuc*ing RNY Sandra Lee! Cuz I'm embracing the crap outta prepared sauces and stuff. Better living through chemistry is my new motto. Cuz it gets the job done in 10minutes or less!
Today I tried out steamed spinach. Per my surgeon that is A-okey-dokey with her. So I used frozen chopped spinach, some Tostito's Spinach Dip, some Central Market Hatch Salsa Verde and granulated garlic powder. I steamed the crap outta it until it was beyond tender and used part of it under a perfect 6.5minute soft boiled egg. Dayum did it go down smoothly! LOVE!
    So here's the recipe!
    Green eggs and BAM Baby!!!
Serves 2 (1/2 of creamed spinach + 1/2 soft boiled egg)
1 large egg, soft boiled to 6 minutes, peeled and split lengthwise
    1oz frozen chopped spinach
    1/4c Water
    1/8 tsp granulated garlic
    16g (1Tbsp) Tostito's Spinach Dip
14g (1Tbsp) Hatch medium green chile salsa (Central Market)
Kosher or sea salt to taste
For egg, bring water to boil in a small sauce pan. Gently lower egg into boiling water. Set time for 6 minutes. Bring egg water back to a slow boil. Remove with a slotted spoon at 6 minutes. Rinse under cold water while peeling egg. Cut egg in half lengthwise. By the time it's cut in half the egg will be about 6.5 minutes soft boiled!
While egg boils, nuke frozen spinach and granulated garlic with 1/4c water. Cover with plastic wrap or a microwave safe cover. Make sure to vent. Stir often to prevent volcanic spinach events! Remove when spinach is tender and stir in spinach dip and salsa. Nuke again for 30 seconds. Remove and stir.
    Nutritionals for 1/2 egg + 1/2 creamed spinach: 64 calories; 4g protein; 4g fat; 4g carbs; <1g fiber; 4g net carbs; 0g sugar
Place half of creamed spinach in a small bowl and top with 1/2 of a soft boiled egg. Sprinkle with kosher or sea salt and enjoy. Let remaining half of egg and spinach cool, then cover and place in fridge for the next meal!

I have additions to the “paranoid I am never going to lose weight” stage (which, incidentally, is a recurring stage - at a minimum you get this stage at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, and I dare say there will be more.
There is the “OMG I can eat anything, did he really DO the surgery” stage.
This is quickly followed by the “omg I am losing weight so fast because I can’t eat much and how do I eventually stop this weight loss” stage.
I have gone through the “pretty miserable that all I can eat forever is Haloumi and yoghurt” stage, as well as the “hell I am so lucky at my food because my favourites are Haloumi and yoghurt” stage.
And of course the “why is no-one commenting on my weight loss” stage, and it’s cousin the “it is embarrassing how everyone is commenting on my weightloss” stage.

Post-op day 3 was pretty good. My surgery pain is lessening and has been somewhat replaced by gas pain although I can get pretty good temporary relief from that by passing gas. That's hard to do sitting down but easy (and fun!) while walking. Not sure when to expect a bowel movement; I had some Smooth Move tea today and will likely start miralax tomorrow. (The liquid docusate they gave me in the hospital was so disgusting that I would rather an impacted colon than swallow it again.) New pain has come up in the form of stiffness and soreness in my back, neck, and butt, from limited mobility I'm sure. I walked less than 800 steps today and I'd like to hit 1000+ per day coming up here shortly as the pain continues to recede. I'm going to start stretching my pain meds farther apart; I think they do "help" but mostly in the sense that they put me to sleep; I'd like to be more awake and alert during the day.
I still have burps from time to time but no vomiting and very little nausea; the nausea I do have is coming from my vertigo, I think, which seems to be in a slight flare.
Today I had about 1.25 Premier Protein shakes, so didn't come near my 60g Protein goal, and probably 35-40oz of Water, well short of my 60oz goal. Tomorrow I'm going to try and get on a schedule for such things to see if I can accomplish more. It's not that I necessarily feel full and have to stop; I just don't have any interest in it and the naps/fatigue get in the way. Besides plain water I had a bit of the smooth move tea, two tiny sips of Decaf coffee, and maybe 2 oz of thinned-out Tomato Soup, which was delicious.
I keep dreaming about pureed foods, even though I'm not hungry physically or mentally. I think my first meal is going to be refried Beans with guacamole and some thin salsa. I also have some good plans for hummus, mmm hummus. Oatmeal with banana and Peanut Butter. And once I'm strong enough I plan to get the crockpots going with several different kinds of bean chilis that I can puree. For right now I'll just focus on walking & sipping!

Yes! You stated this so eloquently. I'm not going to weigh in prior to my 2-week follow-up and then after that I think I'll reserve weigh-ins for once or twice a month. (At my weight it will be awhile before clothes stop fitting so that won't be a good guide for me.) I did the obsessive naked post-BM don't-drink-any-water daily morning weigh-ins for almost two years and it was exhausting and depressing especially when you knew you did EVERYTHING right and the scale wouldn't budge.
As bari patients we have a program to follow - hydrate, walk, eat nutritious whole foods in small quantities. If we do that, we cannot fail.
    So long, scale!

Well, I made it! I'm still fairly loopy so I'm going to keep this short.
I had a good surgery with no complications, but struggled to wake up afterward so I had to remain on breathing support for another hour or two once I was in recovery. Originally (once in my room) I was using a PCA pump with Dilaudid which helped for my pain but put me to sleep almost immediately so the 2nd day we switched to liquid oxycodone so that I could stay awake a bit more to walk and move around.
I spent 2 nights in the hospital; I was afraid I'd have to spend a third because it took me a long time to get walking, but I improved pretty rapidly on the morning of the second post-op day so I went home yesterday around 5pm.
My pain in the belly region is pretty intense; there's one spot in particular that feels like it's ripping or tearing when I move a certain way. Overall it's better than before, though. I didn't have any gas pain until last night and thankfully it's all in the belly area, so I can just get rid of it the normal way LOL, no issues with gas pain in my chest or neck or shoulders like some have.
Water and Protein Shakes are staying down fine, I've had a few burps here and there but nothing has come back up or caused pain. We stayed ahead of nausea with the patch and IV zofran so I haven't felt like I needed to throw up at all. I have the dissolvable nausea pills at home now for when/if I need them.
Okay I think that's all the thinking and typing I can handle for now. Thank you all so much for your support. You mean the world to me!

I had Lap band revision to VSG on 2/26/18.
I decided before the procedure that I wouldn’t weigh after. And I haven’t. The only time I’ve weighed was at my postop visit, where I was down 17 lbs. that was early March.
Before surgery, I watched a YouTube video that suggested not to weigh and I thought about all the times I was happy - until I weighed. I read all the posts here panicking about a stall. And I decided the scale wasn’t for me.
*HATERS STEP OFF NOW. DO NOT POST A REPLY IF YOU THINK THIS IS STUPID, BECAUSE IM NOT SUGGESTING ANYTHING TO ANYONE.*
It’s been really peaceful. I’m down 4-5 sizes, I log all of my food, but I have no idea what I weigh and I’m am SOOOOO okay with that. I’ll be weighed when I go for my next doctors visit, I know....but for now, I’m at peace. I know I’m working what works for me and I’ll do it as long as it does....
Just wanted to throw this out there for others to consider....if it’s not for you, more power to you. Do what works for you. I’m doing the “me plan” and I’m happy and healthy and so not stressed out about my weight right now. Taking it a day at a time....
Hope everyone else is working what works for you and at peace with yourself or well on the way...

I will say. I've gotten rid of most processed food. We only eat fresh meat and veggies. So these packages from Gardein are the exception to the rule. I like that they are always hanging out in my freezer for a day when we went too long without going to the store. I can make them quick on the stove top or the toaster oven. I do a lot better sticking with things if it is easy.

No way around it, liquid diet sucks. I am 8 days out and bored as hell with my food choices.
It is because I enjoy eating good food, how I got here to begin with. 😔
I am trying to look at it like detox for any other addict (drugs/alcohol). Food is gone. Maybe I need to take this time to adjust my relationship with and the way I think about food. I am detoxing from Food, it needs to have less of a hold on me.
That is just my Zen moments, the rest of the time I am grumpy and want something good to eat. Trying for more Zen moments. . . . .
FluffyChix said something in another post that I also try to keep in mind:
Embrace the suck, you will never lose weight this quickly again.
