  1. Hi everyone! I live in Fullerton and would love to find a walking buddy. I can't afford a gym membership, but I need to find some sort of motivation to get out of my apartment and exercise. If anyone would like to get together, please send me a PM. I am coming up on my one year (Jan 16th) and have only lost about 48lbs. I need a jump start. Thanks!
  2. lol, you wrote Tarbell like the Realtor. *snicker* I am still planning on coming. Can't wait to meet some people who are going thru exactly what I am. Edited to add - My boyfriend Carl would like to come with me, at least for the first meeting. I hope this is ok.
  3. I feel the exact same way. I was banded Jan 16th, 2009 and have only lost 29lbs. To be completely honest, I really did think that I was going to loose at least 50lbs in the first 6 months. There are so many great stories on this forum from people who have lost that amount. Not the case for me. I hadn't lost anything since my first fill, until I lost 5 lbs between fill #3 and fill #4. I have not lost anything in the 4 weeks since my last fill so I scheduled my next fill for Tues. I am truly hoping that this next fill will do the trick. I am exercising, and eating protein and healthy foods, the weight just is not coming off. 29lbs in 6 months def does NOT live up to my expectations. Some days I wish I pushed for bypass. There is nothing I can do now except keep on trying.
  4. I am at 5cc in a 10cc band right now. I had 4 nice size pieces of pork tenderloin tonight for dinner. So, I am not at my sweet spot. Going in for another fill this Friday.
  5. So glad to hear your update! I am struggling! I have been banded for 6 months and have only lost about 30lbs. I have not lost anything significant since the month after surgery. I have 5ccs in my band and I just need to get another fill I guess! Good job!
  6. I would like to join you! Please send me the details. I could really benefit from talking to other bandsters. I have been having a hard time.
  7. I only go to the gym 3 times a week. I know I should be doing more, but by the time I get home from work I am so dead tired.
  8. not doing so great. banded Jan 16th and only down 30lbs. I am not eating anywhere near what I was eating, and I am drinking the Water and following the rules....I have had 4 fills already and I have 5ccs in my band. I lost 5lbs between my 3rd and 4th fill, which is awesome, but I thought the weight would be coming off faster than this. I cant eat breads or pastas, so I am not stuffing my face with carbs. I just don't understand why I am so far behind most people who were banded at the same time I was. I am getting very discouraged.
  9. I did not loose anything, maybe a pound or two, between my first fill and my fourth fill. I had my fourth fill a week ago bringing me to 5ccs. Since that fill, I have lost another pound. Not losing any weight for almost 3 months after only being banded for over 5 months is extremely discouraging. But, I finally have some restriction and I am def not eating anything near what I was a month ago. Its hard when you see so many posts about how some have lost 50 -60lbs in their first 6 months, but its different for everyone I guess. With out the band, I would still be carrying those 30lbs I have lost.
  10. Congrats on your weight loss!! I have not been as successful. I was banded Jan 16th and have only lost 30lbs. I still have about 80lbs to go, so I am hoping that the first half of the weight is the hardest to come off.
  11. WOW! SO many of you are doing so great! I was banded January 16th, 2009 and have only lost 28lbs so there really isn't a change worth taking pictures yet. I can't even tell a difference at all. I have no idea why my weight loss is sooooooo slowwwwwwwwwwwwww.
  12. Congrats!! That is so exciting! I just hit 28lbs gone and I was banded Jan 16, 2009. Slow, but not so steady...lol. Nonetheless, its still coming off and staying off!
  13. I am so glad I read this post. I am about 5 months out and have only lost about 25lbs. I have 4.5ccs in my 10cc band and I can eat way too much. I will go in for another fill next week hopefully. I can't wait until I feel some good restriction.
  14. I told everyone...lol. I am the only female who works in an office of younger guys, ranging from ages 18 to 24. I am 27. All of my friends know and all of my family know as well. I am glad that I was honest about it because I really need the support. Its a very personal decision so whatever you are comfortable with is the best way to go.
  15. I was banded Jan 16th and have lost 23lbs since. My weight loss stalled since my first fill which was about 4 weeks ago. I just had my second fill a little over a week ago but still haven't lost anything. I am sure its because I am only exercising once a week and not drinking enough Water. When I stopped drinking water constantly all day, my weight loss stopped. I need to get back on track. I have 3.6ccs in my band, and only have restriction in the morning. I am going to wait another 2 weeks or so before I go in for another fill.
  16. Thanks so much for all the replies. I really appreciate everyone's advice. <3 I went to get my 2nd fill today and it went very well. I explained everything to my surgeon and he decided that instead of the 1cc he was planning on giving me, that he would give me 2ccs. He's a funny guy, he said "I was going to bump it to 1.5 but since you are whining I will give you 2." LOL I am so happy I love my dr. He did tell me that it is normal to eat more after your first fill because you are slowly getting your appetite back and able to eat more. Also, that the first fill doesnt really do anything..lol. As for the time in between fills, my surgeon tells me to wait two weeks after my fill and to call him anytime I think I need one - but no later than 2 months. So, its pretty much up to me and how I think I am doing. thanks again!
  17. I had my surgery on January 16, my first fill on Feb 27th (1.5cc) and tomorrow is my 2nd fill. Up until 4 weeks ago I was losing weight steadily, all together about 24lbs. After I got the fill, it seemed like I could eat more. I don't really understand it. I am also getting hungry a lot quicker than before. I am not eating anything different than I was before, just more at each meal. I know all about bandster hell, but this is HARD. I want to eat so much! I have gained about 3lbs since my first fill and I guess I am just looking for some guidance or inspiration. Maybe even a little motivation. :tongue_smilie:
  18. correction....I am down 22lbs!! Woo HOO!
  19. I was banded Jan 16th and I am also down 18 lbs!! I am doing great so far. I still have to slow down when i eat tho. My next appointment is on the 27th and thats when I should get my first fill. I haven't tried chicken yet since my surgeon told me to introduce that last. But I have been able to eat l ots of steak and thick juicy pork chops.

I tried to eat some baked pork chop tonight and it didnt go so well. It didn't seem dry, it was pouring juice. But It was almost painful going down, so i wont be having pork again. I will have to stick to tuna or steak for now cause my surgeon said to stay away from chicken for now.

Well, here I am 15 days post op and I am down 13.4lbs! :blushing: I am really enjoying this band. I am eating healthier, making better choices for myself and just over all feeling good. I started eating real food yesterday. We went to the grocery store later on in the day and spent two hours shopping for healthy foods with low fat high protein. its the first time I actually looked at labels. I can't believe some of the food I was eating before the band. Everything was full of carbs and SO HIGH FAT! Its no wonder I ballooned to over 260lbs. My first real dinner was so tasty! I broiled stir fry steak strips and had broccoli cooked in Pam spray with garlic. And I was so shocked that my food fit on a smaller plate! I wasn't even able to finish all the steak. Unbelievable. the hardest thing so far is not being able to drink while I eat. But I am learning. Also, I think i am eating too fast cause sometimes, i feel a little pain in my chest, but it is fleeting. It reminds me to slow down. I am chewing to mush tho. For the first time in my life I actually have hope. I am really ready for this change. I think I may even be looking forward to summer!

  24. I live in Socal as well. I have seen several billboards. I listen to 102.7 Kiis FM and every other commercial seems to be about the Lap band.
