Rachel the decision is really yours and it shouldn't matter what others think, especially if you do not know them. The surgeries were not available to me in my 20's. I did research them as they became available but I believed I could lose weight on my own. Last year I knew I was fooling myself about losing the weight on my own, I needed help. At that point I changed from a passive weight loss person to aggressively seeking help. After my initial seminar I came home and started to putt together my support team. My only request was if you choose to support me through this journey great, if you cannot be supportive then please just pray for me. Do not try and talk me out of this,, it is my journey and I have made up my mind to do this. Most of the people I talked to were supportive and the others did not try to talk me out of my choice. The one thing I know is without this support system helping me I would not have made it to the scheduled surgery. So decide what you want to do and putt together your support team. Good luck!

Good for you focusing on weight loss and energy levels. That lose skin is something that many of us will have to tackle at a later time. Right now all energy and focus needs to remain on losing weight and getting healthy...Congratulations again on what you have accomplished and continue towards your overall goal.

I am 67 now and had my surgery in Dec @66yrs old. I was worried about my age but I had no complications. When the endocrinologist told me I didn't need to take my pre diabetes mess any longer when I left the hospital Iwas thrilled. I no longer take cholesterol mess and am down to one BP med. This is possibly the best decision I have made for ME!!!!
