A friend of mine went to Patient First for clearance. She presented them with all of her test results and they cleared her for surgery.

Officially one month post op, just started soft foods, loving the changes in my body. So far I have lost 50 pounds since my heaviest and 30 (29.6) pounds since my day of surgery. I went down a pants size and can now fit an airplane seat belt without needing an extender! More updates to come.

Wegmans or Whole Foods is always the answer. Go to the cheese counter and describe it. They can find it.

You can't control his actions, you can only control yours. It sucks that he isn't being more supportive, but that said, he's not having surgery, you are.

The world isn't going to stop eating crap because you can't. food commercials are still going to be crazy. Restaurants are still going to serve unhealthy stuff in huge portions. Everywhere you look there are going to be people eating, shopping for junk food, etc.

You do you and ignore him.

Well I can't believe I've made it this far. It was tough for the first 6 weeks and now I can't imagine my life any different than what it is. I went from a size 24 to a size 12 within 8 months. No sagging skin and no regrets. I eat good and live a healthier lifestyle.
Good luck to everyone just starting out!

I was wondering about the lack of replies to this one. Mrs. LittleBill theorized on that. She said, "What do you expect!?! It's Beavis and Butthead on a forum where there are a lot of women! Women don't exactly like Beavis and Butthead." I said, "Huh huh huh, huh huh. Huh huh huh." She smacked me.

So I started my journey on October 30th 2015 at 540 pounds. This is the highest I've ever been. I had to be on oxygen because I was so overweight it was pressing against my lungs.
I had to do 6 months of a supervised diet and lost 60 pounds before my surgery and had my surgery weighing 480 pounds.
I had a horrible time after surgery as some on here may remember. I was in extreme pain for 3 weeks then extreme nausea for 5 months. The nausea was so bad I didn't eat or drink for over a month and had to get a picc line and give myself infusions overnight to get my fluids and nutrients.
They removed my gallbladder in October of this year and I started to feel much better.
I now feel great and am finally starting to be able to enjoy my smaller size! I'm having fun working out at the gym and I'm starting to feel pretty and trying to date.
I now weigh 336 pounds! That's 204 pounds down from my first weigh in and 144 pounds down since my surgery May 29th 2015!
I'm so excited to be going in the right direction! I just turned 30 in November and I can't wait to finally start living my life!
Here are some before and after pictures!

Today i want to take the time to say good bye to a friend that hung around my neck like anchor. I want to say we had many bad times togather and i truly will not miss you. I will not miss being scared to take a nap for fear the whole house will hear me snoring. I will not miss the pain that came from walking out my house to my car (the less then a 1 minute Walk ) I say dear friend you did not do me well at all so i bid farewell to the 400s and i say to the 300s don't get comfortable i've started the eviction paperwork on you for you must leave me soon as well!!!!

360lyMe reacted to ShelterDog64 in CONFESSION: Surg 12/22 with stretched stomach?
First, you can't really 'stretch' your sleeve. The surgery we had removes the fundus of the stomach, which is the stretchy part, leaving just thick, muscular tissue that the sleeve is formed from. So it's unlikely to stretch...however, putting food that needs to be digested in the stomach into a new sleeve CAN cause issues with the staple line and you need to be on the lookout for signs of leaks: fever, abdominal pain and bloating. Again, not likely but possible.
No hate from me, we've all felt the urge to eat things we shouldn't...my concern is that you need to develop some kind of coping mechanism to keep you from giving in to the urges. In my experience, just keeping it all out of the house isn't enough. You're going to encounter foods you shouldn't eat all the time...what is your plan for the future so that you don't indulge? It's definitely worth spending some serious time planning how to avoid/evade all the food challenges that are present in our everyday lives. I'm 6 months out and attend many social functions centered around food, so I had to come up with a plan that kept me from eating inappropriately at buffets and cocktail parties. Your challenges may be different but won't be any less difficult, so make a plan and use it. Good luck!

I will fully admit that I had an easy recovery but I want to add.
You are never going to better until you are getting some nourishment. So you should sip on broth with unflavored Protein powder all day. You are always going to feel sick and ill until you get get over 600 calories a day. The longer you go without eating and the less you eat, the harder it is going to be to eat and the worse you are going to feel. You are just going to feel weaker each day.
Drink Protein that is a Water consistency all day. Options are broth with Protein Powder, Protein2O Water, Syntrax Nectars.
Even someone with a stricture should be able to get down liquids that are of a watery consistency.

360lyMe reacted to erp in I'm freaking starving.
Are you on a ppi? I didn't advance that fast but once I was on soft foods/mushies versus liquids, they were either low fat and Protein or Protein enhanced, e.g. fat free pudding with dried milk powder added to up the protein content so things like mac and cheese didn't make the list. To cope with cravings, I made sure I followed the rules, drink at least 64 oz and no eating until at least 15 minutes after drinking and no drinking until at least 30-60 min after eating. That rigid structure took my mind off of things same with walking. I made sure I walked a few times a day, trying to go further each time. I guess the real answer is that I made sure I wasn't bored. In doing that, I realized that cravings weren't real. I mean I experienced them but if I was distracted, I forgot all about them.

I'm 10 days post opp and my surgeon and nut cleared me for one small can or pouch of tuna with fat free mayo and relish. It was amazing. I got tired of shakes and chicken noodle Soup too. I am also eating Dannon oikos triple zero Greek yogurt to get my daily Protein goal of 80g in. One serving of that have 15g Protein no fat or sugars. One serving of tuna have 22g with no fat and sugar. It's learning to know your limits all over again. I still lost 2 lbs overnight.

360lyMe reacted to LittleBill in How can I know if my liver is fatty?
I looked at it this way. I wanted to give the surgeon every possible opportunity to not screw something up while carving up my insides. Not only did I follow my dietary restrictions exactly, I even trimmed my beard back to next to nothing because he said it would be easier on the anesthesiologist if they had trouble. It grew back.

I end up having to eat out with friends or associates on a fairly regular basis. Like @ says, make careful choices, and eat slowly. One other thing I do is to divide up whatever comes on my plate before I start eating. I try to guess on the low side of what I can handle. It is better to be a tiny bit hungry than it is to feel bloated and uncomfortable for an hour or so. Diving it up gives you a definite stopping point.

For me it was 400 lbs loss , but my starting weight was 910 lbs. Yes, 910 lbs was my highest at the hospital check in. At 510 I rolled in to the or to finally have my surgery. I am now currently just under 470 lbs and all in just one year.
