  1. A day of cooking for me. Guess I was in the mood! So dinner is now in the oven. It’s a new recipe I’m trying from budget bytes, vegetarian. But you can omit to cheese and make it vegan or use vegan cheese, I should think. Very rare that I make a recipe twice, so imagine doing mostly plant based for almost a year now and having a different dish almost every single time! Lots of variations. Anyway, back to the recipe. It’s a vegetable polenta casserole. I picked at each of the layers, pretty good taste separately, so I’m anticipating a good turnout with it all put together. Here it is:

imagine the veggies being poured on top of the polenta/spinach mix and then the cheese spread on top. Sorry, I didn’t bother with a pic of it put together. Anyhow, it’s in the oven now. Smells pretty good in here . 😊

  2. Yum!!!! I just made this vegetarian recipe. Kind of threw it together on my own getting the idea and ingredients from another recipe. So I sautéed an onion, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, and kale. Added salt and pepper and feta cheese. Didn’t even think about garlic...man, that would have been good. Anyway, I whisked some eggs and thinned it out with some almond milk. Sprayed the muffin cups and filled them with the veggies and added approximately 1/4 cup of the eggs in each cup, maybe a little less. The first batch I put the cheese on top (see pic). The second batch I mixed the cheese with the veggies for more we’ll rounded tasting bite. Baked for about 20 min on 350. My thrown together recipe made 24 of them. They’re cooling off and waiting to go in the freezer. I managed to try one (I say that cause I had already eaten) and did but without being super uncomfortable (I still haven’t learned!!!). It is sooooo good. Nice and easy meal prep for breakfasts, that’s for sure!

Although...I get the feeling going out to eat will be a waste in the future? I mean...what do you DO with all the food on the plate? This place is "all you can eat"! ROFL!!

Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

It can be a waste if you’re ordering regular sized plates. Even the child’s plates are ridiculously large. When I go out, it’s usually a small side salad or I share a child’s plate with my 4 year old who barely touches her food. Sometimes I just don’t even get anything, but I still enjoy the outing.

    Have fun!

  4. Very true. I do not focus on Proteins or any other macro or micro nutrients. I eat a lot of grains and legumes, leafy greens, nuts, and trying to eat more fruits. After reading Proteinaholic by bariatric surgeon Dr Garth Davis, it just reinforced my decision that I’m eating how my body is designed and I’m healthy on the inside...like clear arteries, etc. Dr Atkins is a prime example of what high Protein and fat diets can eventually do to you in the long run. Sure, you may lose weight and/or keep it off, but in the long run, are you really healthy on the inside? He sure wasn’t.

Another good source is to look at the Blue Zones. These folks eat primarily complex carbs and veggies and are the longest living and healthy folk on the planet.

  5. All depends on how far out you are from your surgery. I stay away from anything nsaids even now at 9months post, but oh man, I would love to use some Motrin for some body aches, even today. I’d ask your doc when/if it’s okay for you.

but I also read that with the sleeve the whole nsaid thing doesn’t really pertain to us so much as the other surgeries.

“Sleeve gastrectomy and adjustable gastric banding tend to have little to no change in the absorption of medications. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and duodenal switch can have more significant changes in how medications are absorbed.

Most docs tend to limit the nsaids after sleeve for precautionary purposes

  6. Hmmm....imo, not much. Being left with loose skin or not so loose skin is a factor of many things...age, how long you’ve carried excess weight, even genetics. Best to accept that it may happen. If it doesn’t, well that’s great. If it does, then you’ll not be too disappointed as you’ve already accepted it. Just keep it hydrated with lotion and drinking your Water is my best advice.

I’ve got one...is it possible to add/see what topic or sub topic a thread is coming from? Currently it’s just listed as the thread topic. Wouldn’t know if it’s meant to be in the powder Room, the Men’s Room, Rant/Rave, Nutrition, Exercise, Pre or Post Ops, or even what WLS topic.

I get to rest my case...this morning I tried to comment and kept getting NO PERMISSIONS. At first, I thought maybe it's a glitch and then I logged on to the website by computer and saw that the thread I was trying to comment on is in the Veteran's Forum. So, no wonder why I couldn't post. Thus, there is no way to tell what forum a thread is in on the app, under TRENDING and TIMELINE. Only way is to access the forums by subject is under FORUM. But if the TRENDING and TIMELINE and even FOLLOWING is like the dashboard of the app, it'll make sense to be able to see what the forum topics are for each of the threads. Make sense?
