Yes, I'm still up...9:18. Trying to stay up for a few more mins. I am here in bed, lights off, thinking about how "all of a sudden" my body is aching the way it did with 25+ lbs on it. Is there such a thing as a period after weight loss when all the previous aches and pains decide to come back and wreak havoc? Hip bursitis has flared up pretty bad. My other hip is achy. I felt like my collar bone was about to snap with a piercing pain earlier. All I did was lift up the clothes hamper. My knees are aching an awful lot. Usually happens with bad weather coming but there's nothing in he forecast that I know of. Of course my shoulder that was injured in an accident few months back hurts. My feet hurt again, they haven't for a while and now they do???
All I know is that I'm WAY TOO YOUNG for these issues. Please tell me something gets better!?!? Almost feels like I'm going backwards.
Now, I know I need to stay positive and work through these things. I think my lack of sleep is coming out with the complaints and not so positive attitude right now. My poor kids felt the mom-not-herself attitude earlier. I'm made it to 9:25. I think I'm calling it quits. Goodnight y'all.

I'm sorry you're hurting. I have problems with humid weather from old injuries. Sometimes I'll have days where my entire body is cracking and popping - back, fingers, toes, elbows... I sound like a bowl of rice crispies! I hope it gets better. Rest up and take care of yourself

@Newme17 - I so feel for you!
I haven't had anything "old" flare-up, but I have noticed that various bits of my body get creaky and cranky for short periods of time (up to a week) and then it kind of disappears. However, I have had a long history of bad backs (herniated disc), bad feet (plantar fasciitis and now it appears that I have heel spurs (no more fat padding!)), and perennially bad knees. As I result, every time I try to "step it up" to increased my activity, something always happens that sets me back worse than I was before I started, and for much longer. Now, luckily the weight is not so much the issue, but I do know that after turning 35, and especially after turning 40, things begin to go rapidly down hill! (at least they did for me). So I'm taking the activity part of my weight loss slowly - lots of walking, hills and stairs are okay, but nothing even remotely high impact or overly strenuous (although I'm now at the point where I do think it would be safe to go a bit harder). I also have to find some lighter weights to use, because the ones I currently have at home (which in the past seemed too light for me) are now too heavy and may cause injury if I continue to use them for weight training (I've been using the video on YouTube you suggested a while back). So...that's a long story but basically I think you are doing the right thing by taking a step back for a little while. We have to learn to listen to cues from our bodies, and remember that changes take time.

I woke up at 3:30 this morning. Why? I don't know! I couldn't go back to sleep though. Since 1:30pm I've been dragging. Tried a nap, but doesn't work with a 4 year old. So, I'm laying on my bed trying to not fall asleep (it's only 7:19) cause I don't want to be up at 3:30 again!!! Exhausted.

So I used to do Pilates and loved the feeling of being stretched and limber afterwards. I decided to do a quick Pilates video and the first move was to lay down on the floor on your back and pull up your legs at a 90 degree angle. Easy enough right? Not when it feels like your tailbone is sitting on top of a metal rod!!!! I couldn't lay down properly. So I tried the next move, lay on your side to lift your top leg up and forward. OUCH! It hurt my hip bone!!! Then I rolled over to the other side to check, felt the same. Am I destined to get my stretches one standing up? Hurts way too much to be laying on my bones, they feel bruised and/or like I said, laying on a metal rod. Anyone else have this happen to them? Maybe it's weight loss? Maybe it's my age? I don't know!

I'm usually not a cardio gal (even though I do cardio) but I'm digging in getting my cardio in with JUST DANCE. I haven't had a session yet without my girls in it. They love to dance/workout too. Even if I do a YouTube workout video, they're in it. I want them to always remember the days that they worked out with me. I did the same with my dad back in the 80's when he had an exercise class he taught. That's where my love to exercise came from....I just pray and hope they don't let go when they get older as I did.
-
I like the combo but I like the slower more intense kind than the jumping around all over kind more. Probably because my body doesn't move the way it used to. I was doing a workout earlier and they had fast hamstring curls in it. Those are pretty easy but I couldn't get my legs up fast enough with the video. Lol. I feel like I need to stretch though.

So I've been trying to wake up early and get my workouts in, only did it twice. I can't seem to shake off my tiredness in the mornings! I know if I kept it up, I'd make it into a habit and it'll get easier, but I don't know if I want to do that. When I workout in the evenings, take my shower, I'm so ready to lay down and sleep. I think I'll stick to my evenings.
Now, if I decided to stop working, then I'll do mornings...around 9 or 10. LOL

@biginjapan it is hard with work schedules and when/if you've got young kids, etc. finding the time can be hard. Apple has been able to get up in the am. But don't feel bad if you can't make the intentional workout as much as you'd like. Exercise only accounts for 20% of your physique anyhow, tsbawesome for your overall health but to lose the weight, diet is 80%. Don't you walk a lot to work/from etc? Or am I mixing you up with someone else?

I think I'll go to the bookstore and find the book PROTEINAHOLIC by Dr Garth Davis. I just read some accounts of his patients being on a plant based diet and being very successful. I even read that his points are very valid about the amount of protein we have all been lead to believe we need. I'm super excited, because I've been trying to do plant based for a while now and I've got the support of my husband who wants to go plant based as well. Now, I have to get very creative for my kiddos. The easy part with them is that they tend to not eat meat anyway. I've got to sneak veggies and legumes in...LOL LIke black bean brownies. They'll for sure eat those! I HOPE!!!!
-
You're so welcome @MSinger! I noted on another thread I felt awesome doing plant based pre-op. I wasn't on for long since my surgery was in the works, but I've been slowly incorporating more plants these days and will be opting this for my lifestyle diet.
Btw...didn't get to the bookstore!!! Waaa! Maybe tomorrow after work. 😉

Went to the movies with my hubby this morning. (We're taking advantage of a kid-less day) I did have some popcorn (no extra butter--never get that stuff anyway) and no, it wasn't the end of the world!! Lol. I enjoyed every little bite I had (obviously it wasn't much). I did not die. I did not gain a lb and I did not crave more either. It was good. 😁

I agree an empty theater makes it even better☺️.
It is so important to make time for yourselves as a couple. My dh and I have definitely gone long stretches without especially when our kids were still at home, but we make time now at least once a month.
Enjoy the rest of your kid free afternoon!

I loved the Bariatric Advantage calcium chews until two days ago....all I taste is a metallic chemical taste. So gross. Guess I'll be changing my calcium here too.
-
My treat will be coconut cream pie once I get to goal. I hope it still tastes good.😊
-
I guess a change in taste for the foods that aren't necessarily good for us is a good thing....LOL. We shall see....

Well, I used to love ice cream pre-op and ate WAY too much of it, so maybe this is a mixed blessing. I just wish my taste buds would have changed their little minds BEFORE I paid for Halo Top. That stuff is expensive!

Yesterday was my last Omeprazole pill. Today I start my journey believing that acid reflux/heartburn isn't for me. Certain types of food always brought it on before. If I stay away, I should be fine. Besides, I'm claiming it isn't for me.
So i decided to eat some diced peaches. Totally forgot the one I have is sugar free and it's the worst tasting peaches I've ever had. Took it to the trash. NASTY!!! Should have brought a fresh peach instead.
Oatmeal it'll be.....

Great news @biginjapan! Thanks for that!!!

My youngest brother asked me today to do Tough Mudder with him next May!!! Everything inside me cringed. LOL. Maybe ten years ago I would have said YEAH! I'm reminded just ow my words to him the other day (he works out with a Marine), "your body can do so much more then you think you can." I guess I should chew my own words and do this thing. Would you do it?

I was naive, thinking I can build my muscle as fast as my weight is going. Maybe if I was doing it all the time, but no...I'm turning in to jelly!!!! Lol.

You got this. I work out and my body is not toning the way I thought it would. I am giggly baby lol. It is okay. I think once the fat is gone, that is when our toning truly begins. It is just right now our body's are still getting use to the lack of food and are trying to stay in survival mode.

I found a blog on Pinterest of a lady doing an arm workout. Showed her amazing results after three months. 12 min a day. I think I'll try this and do a before and after on it too.
So after being back at the gym, I find myself loving it, but also thinking I could save my money to go towards a breast lift and workout at home/school track, etc instead. I'm on the fence about it right now.

Yes, I agree with you @russdroppings, but for me personally there are many factors that can play in getting some amount of shape back...I don't believe I will need any kind of plastics for my arms after I reach goal. They were somewhat muscular before I had the surgery. I lifted them up in flex pose and wiggled my arms around and there wasn't much to wiggle before that. Also, even at my healthiest weight 10 years ago, I've always had bigger arms than most. They're naturally not thin. Although I lost some muscle from not working out right before surgery (due to an injury mostly) and right after surgery, I'm back at it and happy to say not much wiggling goes on anymore. Also, I haven't carried this much weight more than a decade (hope this helps a bit too) and I'm still in my 30's, albeit late 30's, but hey, I'll take it if it means less skin ! We shall see!!!!

@biginjapan and @Thejeweledsleeve, have ya'll tried it? I love it. My 7 year old does it with me. I did it with 5lb weights, but some of the exercises were kind of hard with the 5lb-er.

Just one of those days....don't feel like working. Haven't touched anything on my desk yet either. But, I am happy to say I've got my Hidrate Water Bottle in, FINALLY! Hooked it up to the app and it's doing it's thing. Although I had trouble it resetting this morning. Hope it does what it's supposed to from now on.
@Thejeweledsleeve, did you get yours?

Had my sleeve on 5/15. I was probably a size smaller a week ago but didn't bother to check. I bought one size smaller in workout pants and decided to put them on. Happy to say, they slid on well. 😊
-
Totally rocked my element. Exercise! Despite the hip bursitis flaring up on the treadmill, I quickly switched to a bike and finished my cardio. Worked on my triceps, biceps, chest, and added back today. I tend to get a killer workout on my legs, the burn and all, doing slow intense cardio, so I'm omitting leg weights for now. Finally broke the sweat (so happy about that!) Best part, that pain on my side has finally subsided. Yeah! 🏋🏽♀️💪🏽😁
Enjoying an orange cream protein shake with 1/2 banana, cinnamon, and unsweetened almond milk now. 👅

Well, I'm going to the one place I've missed all these last four months due to an injury and my wls. My wonderful GYM!!!!! I'm so ready...but I was advise to take it easy. Hmph...and so I will.

Sleeved this past Monday. The first 24 hours were just awful but normal, I guess. Got way better yesterday. I decided to stay the one extra night. Ins paid for it and I wanted to use what attention I could get medically and have a small break before heading home to three young girls. Lol. The incision site where they stiched my muscle, is very sensitive and hurts when I cough/laugh, so I'm looking to get a smaller binder to help put some pressure on it. Gas pain wasn't too bad, just burped everything out. Overall, I feel pretty good. Could use a nap though. Just waiting for my discharge papers. 😊

Day 11 pre-op:
Another busy day. My baby girl turned 4 today. Had her party today as well. Didn't want to do it on the weekend...way too busy at those kid pizza places. Anyway, forgot about water during the party, I'm parched. Will need to get better at that (being super busy and drinking water). I ate a salad with the most ridiculous amount of grilled chicken on it. I even questioned the oz. Hmm....?
Anyway, had appt with the surgeon yesterday and my post op directions. All is well. Labs were perfect. Took a mini test, he said I got a 100 and there was nothing to school me on. Nut went over post op directions. Main keys are:
1) eat when you're hungry. 2) water, water, water 3) get protein in
no counting calories, etc good! I have to learn to listen to my body, as I've always known that's the way for me. It's what I used to do at my healthy weight, so I know I can and will do it again.
Three more days of pre-op. The end is near to the beginning of another chapter.
-
Well thank goodness...I thought it was pre-op diet day 8, but it's really 9. So, today went just ok again. Will be busy tomorrow so I need to make sure I have stuff handy while I'm out and about. I've noticed I've been on edge with my kids, hubby, work, and all the posts about genepro, stalls, and stretching the sleeve...doing my best to contain myself. I know most of it is in my head, cause my body is being sustained with something at least. Sucks to not eat a regular healthy meal, but hey, it's all for my health and it's temporary. I think I'll take a break tomorrow from logging in...I need to breath.
Ya'll have a blessed night and great day tomorrow!
-
The edge is normal. Lol. Well, I took my breather. Feel much better. Had an awesome dream about my surgery last night. Such peace this morning. Don't think I'll navigate too much on the forums today.

I am glad you are feeling better. I say stay away from them for the time being. Your surgery is soon. Do not need negative vibes, only positive energy. Good for the heart and soul.

Day 7 pre-op:
So much easier when I've got work/routine. The weekend was brutal but I made it through. I've got a busy week, so hopefully it'll fly by.
-
Day 6 Pre-Op:
Hardest so far because it's the weekend. Family wanted tacos this morning and I couldn't have one. But I did well despite my feelings. Stayed very busy today. Got home from visiting with a new friend who will be having the sleeve too. Now I'm super tired.
Starbucks...I saw this on Pinterest. I got a tall two decaf espresso shots over ice and poured about 1/2 of a Snickerdoodle protein drink in it. It was soooo good! Next time I'll use a Pumpkin spice one. 😊 Yum!

I'm at the admitting getting my pre-op lab and registration done. So, I was all excited that my copay was $497. I totally forgot about the hospital bill...lol. $1700. Lol. Oh well. Paid it and now waiting to do lab work. hungry too.
