Your post was very helpful to me. I started eating a few carbs as I hadn't had them for so long, but the good news is, tomorrow I can refocus myself and improve. I just love these forums for that reason...to remind me that I'm not alone in all of this.

Girl, me too! I am always cold now (unless, of course, I'm sitting in front of a heater). My hands and feet suffer the most; I always have to wear socks now. I hate wearing socks to bed, because they move around and drive me crazy, lol! But now, I don't have a choice because my feet are always so cold.

Have you lost a good bit of weight? I've lost over 60 pounds, so I bet that's why I'm so cold. I basically shed 60 pounds of warm blubber, and my much smaller body doesn't know how to cope properly.

I wish I could go back in time, too.
I would like to do so so I could have had surgery much sooner in life.
Everything gets much better after the first couple of months.

It could be a sign that you are full. For me it is just my post op life. I burp after drinking, eating, heck I burp just because I am breathing.

MrsPenguin got a reaction from NuHorizons in Dr. Ponce / Dr. Frayre, Tijuana
I had sleeve surgery in Tijuana with Dr. Frayre from Ponce Bariatrics on December 5th. Like anyone, I was nervous about going over the border for this and my family was pretty freaked out about that, although they supported me in making this decision.
I had the single port surgery through my belly button ($6,000), and for an additional $700, they took out my gal bladder as well through the same hole. My starting weight was 210 lbs, 34 BMI, and 5'6" tall.
I had a friend who had gone through Dr. Ponce and had a great experience, so that is why I chose them. Dr. Frayre is another surgeon who works with Dr. Ponce and I was told that they always do surgeries together, even though I can't verify that, as I never saw or met Dr. Ponce.
I won't lie, the first couple of days were rough, and it was my first major surgery, so I have nothing to compare to, but I do believe I received excellent care. I am a total sissy when it comes to pain and I really think I have a lower than normal tolerance for it. I was in a sort of tiny hospital called "INT clinic"...only about 12 or 14 rooms total and I had a room to myself with bathroom and walk in shower. The nurses were great and so responsive, even though they spoke little to no English.
My single port incision is about an inch long, and located not so much IN my belly button, but at the top of it which was different from what I thought. I have a very deep and narrow belly button, and they have to get all their instruments through that hole, so maybe that is why. I also had a very small drain incision. From my experience, I wouldn't say my recovery was faster with this surgery, but if you want less scars, this may be what you want to choose. You could save $1,000 and just go with the regular surgery and have 4 or 5 tiny incisions.
But I am healing well after 10 days and no issues. I do believe Dr. Frayre and Dr. Ponce are accomplished surgeons. I was told Dr. Frayre had the sleeve surgery himself.
This is long, but I hope this info is helpful.

MrsPenguin got a reaction from pvechiola in My surgery was yesterday... so much pain!
Some of the gas is from the CO2 that is trapped in your abomination cavity. The surgeons use it to inflate your abdomen during surgery. In addition, your intestines are 'shocked' from the surgery and the result is lots of gas. So you are dealing with 2 types of gas. The GasX will only help the intestinal gas. Your body absorbs the CO2, but it takes several days. It's uncomfortable, as those of us who have been through it can attest, but the good news is, it gets better every day. Walking helps a lot too.

The surgery fixes the body, but not always the mind. Its' easy to get caught in the web of obsessing about self-image. Talking to a counselor or therapist can help.

I went to Tijuana and had my sleeve done by Ponce Bariatrics. I had a good experience, even though I can't say surgery is fun. It's a pretty quick recovery. I have had no problems, but I've checked in with my GP and have saw a bariatric nutritionist when I got home to make sure I'm doing everything right. I started at a BMI of 34, relatively low, but I did this to prevent diabetes, which is rampant in my family. I had a single incision sleeve and they were also able to take out my gall bladder at the same time. I paid $6,000 plus an additional $700 for the gall bladder.
