Hey everyone! I need a little encouragement.....I have not lost a single pound in the last month and I'm getting very discouraged. I'm 11 months post op. Hw: 324. SW:295 CW:205. I was so hoping to be under 200 by my one yr surgiversary which is Feb. 17th. Im so afraid that I'm done losing! My losses haven't been huge by no means but I have been losing at least 5 lbs a month. This has been my longest stall since surgery ...almost 5 weeks [emoji853][emoji107]????

That is exactly what I have been going through. I have only lot 6 pd in 1 and half months and 40 total in 4 months. My friend had her sleeve I month after me and has lost 56pds. I have been telling myself its ok but at the same time I am incredibly dissapointed, and even depressed. I am glad people post on this topic so that I can see that we are all different, and i need to relax a bit. Sent from my LG-K330 using BariatricPal mobile app

loss is extremely variable and has mostly to do with genetics in the first year.

The statement the poster made about thinking they were doing something wrong because they haven't lost as much was a comparison of weight loss, correct?
Look, I've been around the block with this. I've seen people get their panties in a wad because they haven't lost as much as their aunt's cousin's sister's best friend did. There are HUNDREDS of posts I've seen over the last 3 years about "slow weight loss". It's human nature to want to compare, but I'm just saying it can be a potentially self destructive and demotivating road to go down. I know, and I don't want to see others fall into that trap. After all, comparison is the thief of joy.

Yup. For comparison, I'm 16 weeks out (sleeved 9/21) and my surgery weight was 192 and I'm now 168.

I am 12lbs from dropping under 200. Stepped on the scale at 211! I can't freaking believe it! I'm so happy. I feel so good. I am actually going skiing this evening. It's the first time in (oh I can't remember) maybe 7 years. I've been doing aqua fit for the last 6 weeks and this week I started actually swimming laps. I am able to swim 3/4 of the way under Water also I can do 6 laps before I need to take a rest. Slowly I am getting my life back.

After surgery, there are additional signaling in the stomach from the trauma of surgery and increased acid that may be confused for hunger pains. If you're right after surgery, it's probably not real hunger and most likely head hunger.
I had serious head hunger after the first week of surgery. I watched a ton of food cooking videos which helped although may be too tempting for others.
Just take it a day at a time
I actually started feeling real hunger and stomach growling about a month after surgery. But the intensity is definitely a lot less than before surgery. Which helps me a lot with making better food choices.

Don't mind me I haven't had the surgery yet... But I must say I regret not doing it when I originally planned on doing it, because nothing changed except the scale, I could have been living healthier life. Now 3 year later I'm just getting started and I'm 3 years older

I'm only 4 months out, so I can't speak from experience. Hopefully some of the vets will pop in and give you their real world experience. I can share my research with you though.
The evidence is indicating that surgery gives us a "do-over" in relation to set point. Our bodies have a tendency to get used to a weight, and fights like heck to maintain by flooding our systems with hormones and other mechanisms to drive us to eat high calorie, fatty, sugary foods as well as slowing down our metabolism in order to hang on to fat stores and maintain what the body thinks is a good weight. While they're not sure *how* yet, the evidence points to the surgery re-setting that point and making it a little less of an uphill struggle to maintain.
Notice I said a LITTLE LESS. This still requires a lifestyle change. The sleeve doesn't really stretch, so the volume restriction is always there to a degree, but it's still possible to "eat around" the restriction by eating the wrong things, or grazing constantly throughout the day. So we do have to radically change our relationship with food, and get and stay active for it to really work long term.
    Hope that helps.

Are Bugles and pretzels on your list of approved foods?
Other crunchy things you can turn into mush: Cookies, french fries, Ritz crackers, potato chips, Hershey bars . . . but this isn't the way most of us eat post-sleeve, and for good reason. This is the time to be adopting healthy habits and learning a new way of thinking about food, not plotting ways to get high-carb crap into your body.

I was told I have to go through my primary care Dr for documentation of my back, Lapband Doc will document also but he said the other would hold more weight. With the rash I easily take care of it by drying it with a blow dryer on cool after showering and using powder when its hot and humid out, its really not a biggie just more annoying then anything.
WOW $20,000!? I was quoted 7000 for a Tummy Tuck w/ Lipo by a reputable plastic surgeon a few years ago when I thought I would have it done and then loose weight-due to the panus being so hard to exercise with-then I discovered Spanx and decided to wait (thank you girdle Gods!) Do you think they upped the price because they knew your insurance would fit most of the bill or was it a more involved surgery for you?

Excellent! I use My Fitness Pal and track everything! My husband is super supportive and measures how much skim milk he put in my coffee. The kitchen scale, measuring spoons and cups are part of my routine. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16
