Stabbing pain at incision site 1.5 months out

Thanks for the responses guys! I was about to go to Urgent Care when my doctor called and said if there were no other symptoms but the pain then I probably just irritated some nerves in the area! Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  2. I had surgery on 11/29/16. On Friday I was carrying a slightly heavy box in to my daughter's dance studio and later began to feel a sharp/ stabbing pain at my incison site. I didn't have any other symptoms and so far have not felt any bulges, been naseous, constipation, etc. but the pain is getting a little worse. I left my dr a message but it could take 24-48 hours to get back to me. Has anyone here experienced anything like this before? Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Not having "full" feeling ?!

I had bypass on 11/29 and immediately after surgery I was ravenously hungry, and have been ever since. When I eat I don't feel full or satisfied, just sick. It's been pretty miserable. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Help! Gaining weight!

After my surgery I had one meal with calories and then developed a bowel obstruction and was in the hospital for 4 days on "bowel rest" i.e. not even ice chips, just IV saline and potassium. When I got home I hadn't lost one pound! But after a few days weight began to come off! Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    How is your recovery going?

I really hope it's not a stricture! I was in the hospital for 9 days with complications and I'm so scared to go back. The pain isn't unbearable, I just didn't realize I'd be so sore for so long! However I did have a feeding tube placed during surgery and removed two weeks later which hurt a lot. I think youre right that my body just isn't ready for as many solids right now. I wasn't given a diet plan and didn't have any diet education (I had bypass for bile reflux not weight loss) and that's been a big struggle. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    How is your recovery going?

I had a bypass on 11/29 and I've been shocked at how slowly my recovery is going, compared to the other major abdominal surgeries I've had in the past. I am still having a lot of soreness, and trying to transition to more solid foods has been a nightmare. Is anyone else still having pain, especially with eating/ drinking? Depression and Anxiety Meds

I also take psych meds and there is no way I'd either change or get off them. I've had no problem swallowing pills since my surgery but I've had to make sure I don't gulp too much Water when taking them. Heck, I didn't even get my meds liquified after having a Nissen Fundoplication and after that surgery I couldn't even swallow cold water or berry seeds in smoothies! Where do I start?

    Where do I start?

Long story short, I had gastric bypass on 11/29 for bile reflux, not weight loss. My stomach pouch was made a little larger than ones done for bariatric surgery but obviously, my diet is restricted. However, since my surgery I've begun to realize I have an incredibly unhealthy relationship with food. I am hungry all the time right now, and can't stop watching videos of food being made, looking at pictures of food, googling restaurant menus, and planning out what I'm going to eat as soon as I'm healed. Food has always been very comforting for me, and while I never binged I always, always made unhealthy desicions when it came to eating. Two years ago I had a Nissen Fundoplication for acid reflux, and my eating was MUCH more restricted than it was now. It was months before I could even drink cold water. I fell into a deep depression at that time, and as my literal ability to swallow food increased, so did my poor choices. I was slightly overweight before my bypass and want to maintain a healthy weight when I'm able to eat food again, and I want to make better choices when it comes to eating, especially because of the nutrient absorbtion issue. I'm feeling very lost and sad right now, and I don't know where to turn. Because I did not have this surgery for weight loss I didn't recieve any nutritional guidance beyond the "week 1 clear liquids, week 2 pureed food..." handout. Can anyone please point me in the direction of some good post op diet and nutritional guides? Ive had a long, complicated recovery (bowel obstruction, 9 days in the hospital) and I'm still in a lot of pain and feeling very depressed. Any encouragement would mean a lot to me! 12. I'm so sorry to hear you're struggling with the horrific condition gastroparesis. I was diagnosed 3 years ago, and actually just had a bypass done on 11/29 for bile reflux that began after another gastroparesis surgery. My surgeon said many doctors use bypass as a first method of surgery for treating gastroparesis. I suggest seeking out an experienced motility doctor.
