Gas Pain In My Left Shoulder!! :[

Wow this thread gives me hope. I am 6 days post op and oh my gosh does my left shoulder HURT. I feel like it is never ever going to go away. If I didn't have that pain I would be feeling great! I have walked and taken more gas-x strips than I can count and my heating pad and I are very attached at this point and I am still having horrible pain in my shoulder... Jes

  5. Hello Southern Girl,

Sorry, but I have not logged on this week until tonight. How are you doing? To date, I've lost 15 pounds, but I'm afraid it's mostly water weight.......I'm hungry, but still staying on liquids........ Let me know how you're doing.

  6. Janed I saw you a found a doctor here in Austin to do your fills, Dr.Patel I think? I am getting banded in Mexico on April 5 and am trying to get all my info together for fills etc. How much does he charge for fills? Thanks J
  7. I want to finally move to Southern California. Because I refuse to do it while I am this over weight and feel like I am the only fat woman in South Bay! I want to be cute in my swimsuit on Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach... I want to just fit in.... J

    Adult ADHD and Banding?

Nicole I am not banded yet either but I too have ADHD and am medicated. I was on ritalin but was recently switched to Wellbutrin XL by my doctor. It helps but not as much as the ritalin does. Now that I am being banded on April 5 I wish we would have stayed on the ritalin since it is a MUCH smaller pill. The generic Wellbutrin XL pill is a horse pill and I just got the prescription filled for it and I have no clue how I am going to be able to take that after surgery. I know I could ask her to switch me back but she will have a fit since she thinks that WLS is not what I or anyone else needs. She thinks I should be able to lose weight with diet and exercise. Yeah right! I've lost and gained the same 80 pounds so many times that if it was an Olympic event I'd have a gold medal! Anyway I am happy for you though finally getting diagnosed. I am 33 and didn't get diagnosed until late late twenties and lord knows it would have helped me a lot if I had known sooner. I feel much better now and I wish you the best. Jes

All you people do is complain...

Wow! I have been reading this site for weeks and have learned so much that I feel blessed and grateful that this site even exists and for ALL of the posts that I have learned so much from. On another note I have received the most thoughtful and informative responses to my posts that I already feel like I have a new family. Maybe we should all try to open our hearts and minds and remember to look at this site as your extended friends and family. Just my two cents Jes

    Know anything about Dr Alvarez

Nan That is fabulous! I am glad you are doing well! I am scheduled with Dr.A on April 5 and I am getting so nervous! He seems to have one of the longest "clear liquid" requirements that I have seen. Any advice or suggestions on how to get through a whole week of Clear Liquids. Also, any advice about the hospital or any of that stuff? I really appreciate it! Thanks Jes

    Pre-Band Eating Habits? HELP!

Everyone thank you so much for your messages. I love all the wonderful and caring people on LBT. But I think I didn't pose my question correctly. I wanted to know how you ate BEFORE your band and BEFORE any pre-op diet ? I want to get the band I am just worried it won't help with the binge eatting that I am horrible about doing. Thanks Jes
  13. I am about 13 days from surgery and I am beginning to get beyond nervous and freaked out....I am worried the surgery won't help me. I think it would really help me if I knew what other people's eatting habits were before getting banded? The reason I ask is I guess other people's negative comments have begun to eat at me. They say that I don't over eat all of the time and binge eat when emotional (upset, sad, angry, etc) and that the surgery won't really help me. I do admit that I use food as a punishment & reward. If I don't eat breakfat & lunch then I feel like I have "accomplished" something but then for dinner I over-eat, not junk but a bigger piece of meat, extra potatoes, etc because I am so hungry. And then I feel bad and start over again the next day. I hate to post such a sensitive question but I really need to know please! Was anyone else like me? And if so has the band helped you? BTW I am 5'2" and weigh 203 and want to lose 80lbs. Thanks Jes

Is the band right for me?

Thank you everyone for your wonderful responses. They really help! I guess in my own head I feel guilty and like I shouldn't spend all this money (I don't spend money well ) and I am trying to justify to myself whether to have the surgery or not. Half of my support group has been saying OMG Jes just do it (especially my mom since diabetes and heart problems run on my dad's side and my mom's side has heart problems too and pretty much everyone is overweight). The other half of my support group had been saying "Jes you only have about 80-83 pounds to lose, why not spend about a quarter of the money on a trainer?" Only! HA easy for them to say when they are all thin or maybe 10-20 pounds over. I've tried many medically supervised diets (liquid and phentermine) and lost weight but it never stays off after I stop the shakes or I stop taking the pills. I guess I have never really had to face and correct my eating habits and I have this idea that the band will FORCE me to do it.. Sorry I am just going on and on but I cry about this everyday and just am scared to have the surgery and I am scared to NOT have it... Thanks for listening or rather reading  Jes

    A little peeved at GNC.....

This thread makes me wonder why it's not considered a hate crime or discrimination when overweight people are treated horribly. And why people of every economic class and education level think it’s acceptable to be mean spirited, cruel and downright hateful to overweight people. Case in point my friend was walking down the street downtown one Friday night going to a club and a group of guys in a BMW threw a huge 64 oz fountain soda on her and screamed whales die without water and drove off laughing. Needless to say our evening was ruined and I know it has haunted her ever since. Or better yet if I had a dollar for every time a random stranger (usually a woman) has told me “you have such a pretty face, you really should lose weight then you would be so much more attractive”. REALLY? SERIOUSLY? I NEVER thought of that! And then the appalled look on their face when I don’t act all thankful for their “kind” words. If I am in a sassy mood I usually pop back with well I can fix the weight but you can’t fix stupid! Just my two cents! J
