WLS is the easy way out
I've been considering this surgery for about 15 years... It is not something I just jumped into... Yesterday, because of many stressors in our life right now, my husband lashed out at me and told me " You're just taking the easy way out, If you would just TRY and commit to 3-4 years of really hard work you could do it on your own!" Uh, um.... I wanted to lash out, to tell him where the bear went in the woods... But I prayed and thought about it for a couple of hours. In the end I wrote him a letter, and attached testimonies from Dr and patients, along with research. At about 10:00 last night we finally talked. He understands what I'm going through, and He reminded me of all the stress we have been under. He said he still feels that way and is not a proponent of WLS, but he supports me in my choice. He told me to schedule the surgery and we will get through it. I'm still sad at his response. I know it is stress, But I have been praying on my own and together with him. I know this is the best and right thing for me. My date will be February 7th, at Bariatrix FL with Dr. Amit Taggar. I know God is BLESSING me daily! I know He will walk with me! I'm ready!

What to do about complications?
Can I ask, what insurance do you have?We have Medishare. It's a Christian health care option, we basically pay cash at a reduced rate, if there is anything major, a claim is filed and the other members join together to pay. It's based on the book of Acts. They encourage healthy, biblical lifestyle choices 50 year old me!!

What to do about complications?
My husband isn't convinced that Mexico is the right place for surgery. I have been accepted by Dr. Illan and I'm ready... Has anyone had any complications that needed Dr's care POST surgery? If you had to see a Dr. did they even want to treat you? Did you have a hard time getting treatment? Did you go to an emergency room? What were your complications. Would you do it again? My husband works in the legal field, he sees the worst of everything you could possibly imagine. I understand his fear. But I'm ready...

Help choosing a surgeon in MX
After doing some serious research I found that the surgeon I was going to use is bad news. We found a News program from San Diego that did a series on "Dr" Almanza with Weight Loss Agents. PLEASE do NOT use him. I cancelled my surgery and they tried to say it was a smear campaign... We are currently looking at other surgeons or staying here in the USA.Best of luck. Just do your research!

Shrimp gate
I'm still waiting for my surgery. I'm not a young kid, and I've been around the block more than once... The way i look at this site is this, I ask questions, read the answers, store what i feel like i need, and toss the rest in the "trash". I'm so thankful for this support, I'm so thankful for those who are on the same page as me and those who've gone before. Sometimes i laugh, sometimes i just skip over. There's no reason tho take offense. We're all here for the same reasons. 50 year old me!!

I would talk with your doctor about changing meds because your weight, hormones and why you are depressed had changed. I haven't head my surgery yet, but as i progressed through menopause my physical needs have changed. When i met with my dr, she agreed that a change in meds would be huge for me! I feel like a new person! I'm taking effexor er. Keeps me more even. 50 year old me!!

Anyone tracking their journey
This is the Youtube page I'll be documenting my journey on. My journey has already changed due to some unsettling information we found on the surgeon I was going to use in MX. I will be staying stateside, hopefully here in Savannah or in FL, depending on Cost! I've found a surgeon in FL who does VSG for $7800, I've requested info. I won't be updating my youtube much until I get my new date and start my pre-op diet.

February Sleevers -- Let's Do This Together
Well, after looking deep into the internet and finding really awful things about the surgeon I chose, I'm not going to MX in Feb. I've found some other MX surgeons, but my husband is not having it. So we're looking into some self pay options in the US. I've found a surgeon that is doing VSG for $7800, in FL. I've resuested info. Keep me in prayer. I'm praying for all of you <3

Surgeries in Tijuana Mexico
I hope you are not going to Dr Almazna...he has had 4 deaths and many pt in ICU. Some have had a great experience and many have not. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App Thanks for giving me the heads up about Almanza! My hubby and i spent hours researching, and it was a lot of reading and looking around, but we find a news story about him! I will NOT be using him! 50 year old me!! Insurance coverage but considering Mexico. Thoughts?
My sis in law had hers done in Mexico, m going to her doc there in feb for mine. She's been fine all along, no issues at all. If i had insurance that would cover it, i would stay here, but since i don't and the U.S. is soooooo expensive for self pay, I'm using her doc! Also the $4800 deductible is only about 800 more than I'll pay. Stay local if you can 50 year old me!!
