Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

Every time I post I feel like I am eating so badly... but the scale's still movin' so I'm not going to complain. B- nada L- snapeas crisps D- chicken salad S- 4 slices of salame THEN I had an appletini and french fries... ug. And a cadbury egg. But good news is I swam for 45 minutes so w/ the calories deducted from the workout I'm at 400, total 951.

How much are you really eating????

I count calories and eat usually between 900-1200 calories. I have days (like yesterday) when I eat more and days like today where I eat less (I'm still in the negative after working out.) So... the point is I found I need MORE calories than the 600-800 my doctor said I should have to lose weight. I was plateaued for several weeks on that. But I think it's because when the Dr. says that you should be eating 800 calories, they think you WON'T work out, even though they say that you should. My dr's office was telling me MOST people hardly workout, even if they say they will. So if you don't workout eat less, if you do workout, add calories or you'll get sick or just stop losing. I workout a lot, so I know that the low calorie count is not good for my body. I would be starving, because I generally burn 500-800 calories in a DAY just from exercise (running/swimming.) Generally I eat Protein first, then veggies, then fruits, then anything else. Sometimes I eat candy and chips and other junk. I just can't have much. I like that stuff though, and want it so I still have it once in awhile. Not daily, or all the time, but once in awhile. Today I had a bite of brownie and it was terrible so I spit it out and threw the rest away. I didn't want to waste the calories. I was offered a different brownie and it was AMAZING. I had a few bites but it was so rich I put it in a baggie and took the rest home! I can eat about a cup of food right now but just skipped my fill because I am losing really well. In 3 weeks I should have another fill. I don't want to be so tight that I PB all the time. Right now I PB about 3x a week and that's PLENTY!

    Ice Cream horror

Maybe you do need an unfill. However, as a really good treat, you can buy applesauce (and they have it in flavored now, like mixed berry or pomegranate) and stick that in the freezer. It's 50 calories and kind of like an Italian ice. Good luck!

    Share your gym strategies!

Wow! You are SOOOO close! I bet you will be at goal when he returns in March. How exciting! I've started running and do that 3-4 mornings a week and I swim 4-5 evenings a week. My brother is a personal trainer so he is going to train me on the weights I should be doing and I'll do that 3 days a week at the gym. When I go to the gym as of now, I do the elliptical for 30 minutes and that's it, besides swimming, but I have only done it a few times. It's kind of like my last choice activity.

Running Weight Loss Totals by LBT'ers

Please add me. I'm 70 lbs down since Aug. 2008.

    They asked me to speak

I don't have to do it this time. I can wait a month or so and give myself some time to think about what I would say. By the way Jaqui, I started RUNNING! I know why you love it! It's hard work but when you're done it feels great.

    Getting tighter as time passes

Yes, I didn't know before the surgery either... for some reason the dr's don't tell you much about this side effect. If you over eat or don't chew well, your stomach can't handle the food. It comes up, often with this thick saliva. It's horrible and gross. I don't vomit like I used to, it's just chewed up food that comes back up. I don't care if that happens, the surgery was still worth it!!

    Happy Problem to Report!

I'm loving that problem... but my wallet might not love me later in the month!
  9. That's a lot less food than a bandster should eat. I wonder if she has an eating disorder? Perhaps you need to talk to the counselor that worked with her prior to surgery.

    For those wondering about flying...

I will say I noticed on the way back I was pretty tight for a day or so and may have been tight after I arrived but don't really remember.

    I feel sooooo good

Here are some things I am feeling soooooo good about- what about you? 1. Not knowing how to react to being hit on (that this is actually a problem for me is a totally brand new thing!) 2. That I bought skinny jeans in a size 16 (I can actually be fashionable now, and look all hipsterish and cute!) 3. That the boots I bought 2 years ago actually zip up on my legs now! 4. That last summer when I went to Torrid, even the size 4's didn't fit. I just bought a shirt in a size 1!!! 5. I feel so damn good! I even bought make-up and thought I would never wear make-up and that it was stupid. I showed me! (ha!) 6. I really want to keep going! I am over the hump and happy, happy, happy. 7. 2009 is going to rock! what are you feeling GOOD about these days???

    Soda soda soda

I don't miss soda and I really thought I would, it's all I used to drink. I got sick of the crystal light flavors I was drinking though. I used to LOVE the punch, the lemonade and the raspberry lemonade but now those flavors just make me wretch. They are too sweet! I like the pomegranate cherry now and the white grape. Those are flavors I hadn't tried before. I also like propel and Zero Powerade, but only the grape flavor. My friend gave me some sugar free hawaiian punch and it's very good- a nice change of pace. I also like flavored waters that are a bit more expensive, so I keep it to a minimum, but this place near my house has jasmine orange, lavender and ginger lemon flavored water and weird things like that. They are almost 3 dollars a bottle though. An expensive treat! Another brand has chocolate mint Water but I haven't tried it!
  14. I'm not embarrassed and I tell a lot of people about it. I think I'm doing great, so I feel totally proud of myself! Like the other pp said, I can do things I could never do before. I had the nicest flight last week and I fit well in the seats and was not squished and uncomfortable. I want to travel more now and just got tickets to go to Florida on spring break! I like to dance and want to go out dancing! I'll see if friends want to go this weekend! I feel sexy, so I went online and got myself 3 dates this week! So yeah, what's to be embarrassed about??

    who did it....

I went on vacation and basically ate what I wanted (but couldn't eat much) and didn't lose or gain. I am fine with that. I went to NYC to visit my friends from when I lived there a few years back--- and ate the top of a pizza, some great Israeli food, amazing thai food at my favorite thai restaurant in NY and lots of other things... some bad things too, like candy (peanut m & m's, plain m & m's and a snickers bar.) I stayed with a guy friend who had less than great food at his house. I had captain crunch for Breakfast and cheese and crackers at 4 am when we'd get home from the bars (seriously, that's how he eats!) Oh, and I drank a lot!! I even took a shot, which I thought might make me die, but just made me incredibly drunk!!! but I didn't gain weight, so that's perfectly fine with me!!
  16. littlefroggy

    Soda

I haven't had anything carbonated at all- not even champagne on New Year's!! I just don't miss it at all. I also feel it will open a can of worms if I do start to drink it! I was seriously addicted before! The hardest part for me about skipping soda is finding drinks when I am thirsty and you're someplace like a movie theater. I just hate spending $5 on water!! I think diet coke would be better in some ways, but there are times I will drink lemonade or something non-carbonated but w/ calories if I'm desperate or something, but that's rare. Since I don't eat and drink together, it makes it easier at restaurants. Just give it up. You'll be fine. before the surgery ALL I DRANK was diet soda! I never drank Water at all!! I had a major caffeine addiction too, and have given that up as well. Now when I drink caffeine or even have chocolate I get all giddy and hyper. It's more fun that way, to have it something rare!

Who will this change who i am

I'm the same person, but more confident, outgoing and physically active. Sometimes I even dance in the street or move around, just to move! I have had some internal/emotional changes with my relationship to food and have come to grip with some of my problems in that area. It's all part of a process and you will change, but it's a bit unpredictable and you can't know how you will change until it's happening. I think this is true especially if you've been fat all your life (I have been fat since about 12 years old in varying degrees, at least I THOUGHT I was fat and saw myself as fat.) I realized yesterday I haven't been this weight in as long as I can remember and feel so THIN now... I know I'm not thin, but last time I weighed 210 I was on the way up and probably felt like a whale... I was probably thinking, "oh man, I weigh over 200 lbs. This sucks, how will I lose it?" and so forth! Now I'm like, "whoo-hoo, only 11 lbs till onderland!! I'll be there by Feb or March!" The difference is I KNOW I will get there, as before I always felt like there was this wall up!!
  18. Between my consult and my pre-op appointment I lost about 15 lbs, but on the day of surgery I had gained a few pounds. I didn't even have a "send off" feast or anything! I stuck to the diet! But, of course they did the surgery anyway. Have you lost some weight before the surgery? I think your doctor should be fine, because this is the reason you are doing the surgery, right?? Good luck!! ((((HUGS))))

    Getting noticed

I'm starting to notice it as well... what a change from being invisible. Even when I'm not being hit on, I see more people smiling at me.

    Average age of a Bandster?

I'm 31 but since being banded am starting to feel 21! I'm smaller than I was at 21 and look better too! however, I would not have been able to handle the changes that have happened to me at 21 (emotionally, anyway.)

    Swimming - post op?

I waited about 6 weeks. I had an infection in my surgical site, and I just couldn't wait for it to heal completely. It was fine.

men noticing you more with weigth loss?

When I was heavier I never wanted to go out! I was always embarrassed and self conscious when I did go out. I think I put up a natural wall that made me someone people weren't interested in. I haven't really had a relationship in years... other than little flings and they always ended badly. Now I am feeling very confident. I feel like I look good, and I DO!!! I am feeling hot n' sexy. I actually need to learn how to turn guys down (I'm a lesbian anyway) but I have had a couple guys try to kiss me or something since losing weight and realize I don't understand the signals and make conversation and don't get that they are flirting. When I was younger I had some strategies, but they were rather rude (as teens can be) and I don't want to do that. It usually resulted in the guy being rude back... so not a very good adult way to deal with being hit on. But honestly I can't remember being hit on in public since HS unless it was at a college party and I was drunk. Even then, the times were few and far between. Any time I have been hit on by someone I was interested in, it ended up in a relationship... so I don't have a lot of experience just being hit on by strangers and dealing with it. I actually have had a couple bad experiences since I don't know how to deal with this kind of attention. I am so glad that this has happened though because I can learn a lot and take my life in the next direction (hopefully, relationship, marriage, kids, so forth.) I am feeling very confident and great looking, buying new clothes and feeling hot, hot, hot. People pick up on that and I notice even strangers smiling at me more. it's so strange!! I know I have some things to learn, but I will...

Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

I went out to this fancy tea place for Breakfast. We all shared our meals. I had the salmon quiche, someone else had a strawberry brie omelette (it was SO good) and another person has this quiche wrapped in phyllo dough. I had 1/3 of each of those items. We also got fresh fruit. I ate a bit of everything for breakfast. I ate all of my salmon piece, then had the rest of the other two later in the day for dinner/lunch. At night I had 2 perogies. I ate very little today, and also didn't get in much nutrients.
  24. I think you look SO great in your photos!! I think you can make them bigger. I upload them in the regular size on facebook but you could put them on a blog or myspace or something. You could even put them on snapfish or webshots. Then you copy the web address and insert it into the little box that pops up when you click the picture icon.

You look fantastic!! I can only DREAM of wearing a bikini. Did you get plastic surgery? I'm getting nervous about loose skin... so think I probably will need it.

    How Much Can You Eat?

I can eat maybe 5-6 bites of food. I think it's about 2-4 oz at a time or 1/4-1/2 a cup. Depending on the food, I could eat more. I almost always find the Protein fills me up and I don't have room for the veggies. I'm on my third fill and think I have good restriction now.
