  1. Happy 42nd Birthday beltranklan!

  2. Happy 41st Birthday beltranklan!

  3. i decided that if the band wasnt going to do it i would. so i got gym membership and started swimming. yes its emabarassing to be in a swim suit, but i promise nobody is going to say anything! i started swimming 3 - 4 times a week, and walking everyday about 2 miles. i cut the mash potatoes and bread, and started making myself soups, with veggies, lentils, beans, any protein sourse, i cut meat, and started making fish, and i have not had a bite of bread since march, once i started doing this the pounds shed off. heres my last piece of advice. DONT weigh yourself everyday! its not steady. and it only made me feel depressed. weigh only once a week, or once every 2 weeks. i have lost 94 pds. but its been hard work, and dedication.gastric bypass is the easy way out, give this a chance you can do it! may God bless you on your journy.

  4. hi hun, i just read your post about your port, i know exactly how you feel read my post its right after yours. But im writing you because you should not give up on this the band is a "Fickle Bitch" i know its so hard, harder than we imagined. i was also banded in november 11/24/08. i had such a hard time, i went down 3, then up 5 then down 2, then up another 4. i was like what the hell! heres what i was doing wrong, 1. i did not excercise at all! 2. i ate bad foods just softened them up in my mouth or blended them, i ate chocolate, mashed potatoes, bread. i thought that the band was gonna do all the dirty work. then i started to think i spent so much money on this "no insurance" i have to make this work,

    port issues

My surgery for the Band was 11/08. I have had 2 fills. Went in for my 3rd and they said the port has flipped. I have no idea when or how this happened. I felt no discomfort what so ever. I am frustrated though as I have only lost about 35 pounds since November. I thought I would lose faster and I did not expect to have to go back for a Port Revision. I have an appointment on July 27th for the consult for the port revision. I am seriously considering asking them to take out the band and just do Gastric.

    Port Revision?

I'm in Germany and I have noticed that alot of the things/sayings they have sound strange to me. But I thought of it the same way you did...lol

    Port Revision?

I went for my 3rd fill on Friday 6/26, and they said that my port has flipped 180 degrees. Therefore they have to go in and revise the port location. I asked the Doctor how this happened and he stated that sometimes throughout the weightloss the port can move or flip and that it was nothing that I did to make it happen. I always worry when I am exercising, especially doing crunches and situps that I am hurting something, but everyone says its perfectly fine to do it. I was wondering how common this is and if I should be worried about it.

    need help..again..tricare...PCM

If I were you I would to directly to the TriCare office. I would go in person rather than try to call. Explain to them what is going on and see if they will write something up for you to give to the Doctor. If that fails, I have the email address for the TriCare Overseas Headquarters here in Germany. She approved my surgery herself the same day she got the paperwork. Possibly if you contact her and explain the problems that your provider is giving you she might be able to do something about it. Another thing that I noticed when I was trying to get my local clinic to give me a referral is that they seem not want to help people get this type of surgery approved. They told me 3 times that they would not put in a referral for me to see anyone. They went so far as to tell me that TriCare STOPPED even approving gastric bypass and LapBand. At that point I went to the Tricare office in my clinic and got the regional information and faxed them my medical records. Once that happend it was a piece of cake getting it all done.
  9. Has anyone had a port revision?

    need help..again..tricare...PCM

I am overseas also in Germany. My PCP also tried to just go to TriCare, but TriCare came back and said that the surgeon HAS to approve to do the surgery, so you will have to get the referral to the surgeon no matter what your PCP says. Anyway, the Surgeon said yes that day and faxed the information to TriCare right then. I had an approval within 3 days and my surgery was 2 weeks later. As for the Deros Date, they won't do your surgery unless you will be here for at least 1 yr after in case of complications. I never had any blood work done, no psych evaluation, nothing.
  11. This is my downfall. I get soooo thirsty when I eat! My Dr said drinking will not stretch your pouch, but it will wash the food down and you wil stay hungry, totally defeating the purpose of the band. I struggle with this constantly.

    Pouch Revision????

Thank you for the information. I called this morning and they did mean Port Revision, the Doctor just wrote the wrong thing. Thanks again!
  14. I have had 2 fills with no problems and went on Friday for my third fill. They had trouble with the port and must have stuck me at least 8 times. The first 2 fills I got they hit it on the first try each time. They called the Doctor down and he said that the port has flipped 180 degrees and they will have to go in and fix it. I asked if this was caused by something I have done and he said no, that sometimes with weight loss the port has to be repositioned. Then because it was after closing hours by the time we were finished he said to call on Monday and schedule a Pouch Revision. Have any of you had this done? I have only lost like 40 pounds and I don't see how that could have affected the port, but most of the weight loss has been in my stomach area.
  15. I have had 2 fills and have yet to feel restriction. I went this past Friday for another fill and was told that the port has moved and flipped 180 degrees???? Now I have to schedule surgery to replace it. I have heard though that some say it takes your 3rd fill or more to start really feeling it.
