  1. I have two more days to hit 6 weeks post op. I cannot wait to be able to eat a raw veggie or two. I seen a blt made with a piece of romaine instead of the bread in my fb newsfeed and I have been waiting for 2 weeks to have one of these breadless blts...can't wait! I just had to share, lol, I'm excited and only you all would understand why! Sent from my VS995 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I cheated on my pre op diet by choosing different forms of protein. Mine wasn't all liquid but allowed yogurt and SF pudding and popsicles. I don't like those things so once a day I had some chicken breast until about 3 days before surgery. I still followed the rest of the diet though. Homemade beef broth from a slow cooked beef roast saved me. It tasted good and was satisfying. I froze some for post op liquids. As long as you can put yourself back on track, don't beat yourself up. No one is perfect, though some people on here like to think they are. Sent from my VS995 using BariatricPal mobile app

How much you can eat ?

As your stomach heals and the swelling goes down, you are able to eat more. That is normal according to my NUT. I'm only 5 weeks out but I know as I heal I will be able to eat more. I follow the guidelines from my NUT as to how much and how many times a day to eat. Normally I can eat a scrambled egg with cheese for breakfast. Today I tried adding a piece of bacon. I could only eat half a piece and a few bites of egg. Since the bacon is so dense it takes up more room so I ate less. Sent from my VS995 using BariatricPal mobile app

  12. The liquid pain medicine tasted awful. It would make me nautious. So, my NP prescribed Narco for me. The pills are easy to get down and only require a drink of water. My surgery was on 4/24 and at my one week post op check I was still experiencing a lot of pain so I was prescribed a muscle relaxer. I take it twice a day and don't need the narco anymore. Call your Dr and ask for something in pill form Sent from my VS995 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Drain tube post sleeve

From what I understand, this incision is where they pulled the stomach through.

  17. I'm 5 days post op and a few of my incisions itch. They are just healing. Its hard to not scratch them, but I don't want to scratch the glue off. I don't really have any bloating or gas, probably bc I am passing gas more than I ever did before this surgery. Sent from my VS995 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Drain tube post sleeve

I had my sleeve on 4/24, no drain tube though. My pain comes from the bigger indented incision. It hurts when sitting up straight, bending over, trying to get up and down. I can't wait for this to heal. Sent from my VS995 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Barium Swallow test?

I had to have one pre op, which showed I have a hiatal hernia. Post op had to do another to make sure there were no leaks. Though it wasn't barium post op, it was a different worse tasting liquid. If you have a leak, they wouldn't want barium inside your abdominal cavity which is why they give the other liquid post op. My surgeon asked me how awful it tasted. He usually doesn't require the post op swallow test but it is routine in the bariatric program I went through. He tests your sleeve in water for leaks before closing up so he doesn't find the post op test is really needed. I think in the near future he will not require it post op. 23. In Illinois you can buy pre made protein shakes with food stamps, I think you can buy protein powder too. It seems you can buy any type of "food" that isn't hot and ready to eat. Sent from my VS995 using BariatricPal mobile app

    April sleevers!?

I have my first pre op appt this coming Monday. So, hopefully by then I get closer to goal. I will see my NUT in a few weeks before I start soft foods. Its great you have support groups to go to. The place I went to has a support group meeting once a month. I'm thinking about going even though its an hour drive one way. Good luck on your journey!
