dr3am3rstarz reacted to summerset in I am feeling like a failure
I would ask myself the question "What is the reason for this?" first.
Start with the "Why did this happen?" and then go from there. (Please exclude "It's because I have no willpower" from the possible answers. )

Surgery is definitely a tool not the end all. I could not have lost weight without it. It is not the easy way out- it was the only way out for me.
Feeling so much healthier and better and I'm only half way to goal. Definitely have to watch myself slipping into using food for stress relief or comfort. Vsg doesn't fix those old habits but it does make it possible to work through them a bit.

dr3am3rstarz reacted to Introversion in 8/21 sleeve, PMS gain? Anyone else???
I gain anywhere from 3 to 7 pounds in Fluid weight during the monthly cycle, which disappears about a week after the first day of my period.
I only weigh myself once a month, about a week after my period ends. Weighing in more often isn't going to make the scale's number move faster, but it does create anxiety for some of us.
Here's a great posting regarding weights and the scale:

Get your thyroid checked. Make sure you get a reverse t3 as well. I wouldn't be able to lose weight with the sleeve if I didn't take a natural thyroid supplement, for sure.

What is a reverse T3? They did a whole work up when i started the process so I'm assuming they did a thyroid test but i 'll ask. Thanks!

Watch a couple of my 600lb life episodes. I am obsessed with that show. I went to the store to buy a healthy snack the other day and roamed around the store for 45 minutes.
I walked out with a pack of green tea instead. In my previous life, I would have chugged down three bottles of soda with out a single care in the world, on my walk in the store.

dr3am3rstarz reacted to gryffen in Pregnancy before the one year mark?
Yeah 18 months minimum here in Scotland and any pregnant woman who has had wls is automatically high risk so consultant led. (No waterbirths, midwife led etc)

I defo know people who have had lapbands and fallen pregnant under a year in, they had to get fills removed and their band shifted due to the baby. NHS denied them a revision as they went against the protocol and risked it.

If a bariatric patient is planning a pregnancy, she needs to wait the 18 months for herself and the baby. After her weight has stabilized, there will be more energy and nourishment that can go to the baby and it will be a safer start for him/her.

That said, early pregnancy is not unheard of, but the mother needs to be seen by a high risk obstetrician, and she should be prepared to put herself 2nd for the duration of the pregnancy. That means she gives up her weight loss goals.

Remember, the first year after the surgery is a special, once in a lifetime, opportunity. A pregnancy in the middle of it is severely unfortunate.

I just got my sleeve on December 20th. My main struggle 4 days out is extreme fatigue and hunger. I am craving real food and am so sick of popsicles and Gatorade at this point. I really hope my hunger calms down soon.

Just keep pushing! There will be days where you will think this was not worth it. Look through your old pics and remember how you felt at the time. I know during this time of my life, I was at my biggest, very depressed, and completely heartbroken. This surgery has been a great tool the kick started all the changes in my life. I will forever stay humble.

Fortunately my insurance paid for everything. If I were you, check and see what your insurance/surgeon requirements are first. Waiting 3-6 months is actually good, because it helps you get in the right mindset and teaches you what you need to do to be successful with a sleeve. If you have to wait years, I would suggest looking at Mexico. I only say this because I've read where many people on this site have gone there and they've been very pleased. Also, my bill here in the States was $29,000.00!! That's a LOT out-of-pocket! Good luck with your journey.

Check your surgeons office. Mine has a closet, tons of different clothes, as you drop the weight or sometimes before. I plan on donating clothes to it once the I grow down and out of the clothes I currently have. My surgical hospital also have an entire office of clothes!

dr3am3rstarz got a reaction from ProudGrammy in will the weight come back say in 7 to 10 years?
I was just recently sleeved on 11/28/2016. I knew that food addiction was going to be a problem for me, so I needed to have a therapist, in addition to my food/sleeve support groups. It's not just important, it's necessary. Because, this is the the biggest change I'll ever make, and food isn't the devil, but it can become it. :)That got away from me, ummm Best advise, Therapist!!

It's a strange feeling, huh? I'm having surgery in February and running into the same predicament. I'm just soldiering through it right now. When weightloss begins and until my goal weight, I'll shop at the thrift stores. Way to go! Sent from my SCH-I545 using the BariatricPal App
