I guess I missed the part where anyone was beating anyone up (aside from a purported counsellor calling someone crass names while complaining about the behaviour of others).
I see people who are concerned about the OPs risk taking behaviour.
I see people who are concerned that many lurkers on this site may read this post and assume that this behaviour is just a slip up, instead of a potential medical emergency.
Where are all the personal attacks some people keep claiming are being made?
We're adults. If your ego is so inflated that even criticizing a mistake you admit to is damaging to your sense of self, that is your issue. Inability to handle even perceived slights is a hallmark of narcissism.

I nominate "But I'm a Cheerleader" for all those who want to endorse and thus encourage dangerous behaviour for fear of hurt feelings!
(If you haven't seen that movie, it's pretty entertaining.)

Trolls are people (or bots) who will post anything, often outrageous, to provoke a negative reaction from most people for the sake of bickering. People who take great pleasure in ruling people up for entertainment.
I haven't seen many posts here that meet that definition. I see lots of people who ask for advice when what they want is validation. They ask for opinions when they only want opinions that align with their own.
So why not say "I did _______ against my doctor's orders and I just want people to tell me that it's okay not to follow sound medical advice and tell me I am fine, even if it's not true."

Hi Anthony74 I want to preface this with assuring you that I'm not trying to jump on you, bash you or shame you in ANY way. But for every person posting here, there are probably 100 reading, and I think a lot of the vets on here post with them in mind.
So, that pain that you have never felt before? It *could* have been your staple line rupturing as your stomach tried to digest the solid food you put in it four days after 4/5 of it was removed. That pain wasn't necessarily your stomach rejecting the TYPE of food, it was it rejecting the insult of ANYTHING other than liquids. And how would you have known that it was your staple line rupturing? You wouldn't have known, and then you could develop sepsis. I mostly want others reading this to understand that it's not simply a case of pissing your stomach off...it could be something very dangerous, even fatal, so soon after your surgery.
    I'm glad you're okay!

I would definitely contact your surgeon ASAP. You'll be lucky if you don't develop a leak in your sleeve. What you did was the equivalent of breaking your leg, then cutting off your cast 4 days after coming home from the hospital and trying to run a mile...
Look, I know how difficult the pre-op and post-op liquid phases are. You just want something substantial and solid, but this is major surgery and you just can't give in to the temptations, or you're risking your life.
Hope you get back on track, but really, call your surgeon.

Oh, another false title. I don't care if people have time to start topics to complain about others. I can ignore [almost] anything. All I ask is that movie titles not be taken in vain so that my time isn't wasted.

So when someone you counsel falls off of the wagon, do you coddle them or do you get tough real quick? We found out about five years ago that my dad had a 20-year pill addiction. My family didn't coddle him. We got him in rehab and we have ridden his ass every since.
In my opinion, one of two things will happen to all of these people who have no control with food consumption. In the best case, they will lose a handful of pounds while the sleeve makes it impossible not to do so. Then, they gain it all back because they never re-established their relationship with food. In the worst case, they'll have significant health problems (that could lead to death) because their refusal to stop eating inappropriate foods will cause a leak or worse.
    It is just food. Seriously.

Well, wait a minute. Her posts you quoted almost look like....trolling? But that's impossible! She just stated she's a big advocate for positive reinforcement!
Also, as someone who has been involved in 12 Step programs my entire life, NO drug and alcohol counselor enables dangerous behavior. When a heroin attic comes to you who has relapsed, do you tell them "That's okay! Everyone makes mistakes!"

I really struggle to understand this mentality. If you gained 47 lbs in less than 3 months would that be considered normal?
This isn't liposuction, and "only" losing almost 50 lbs in 3 months seems incredible. I have friends who have struggled for a year to lose that kind of weight and they are proud of their accomplishments.

This f****** election! I have decided to take a break this week so no TV just Netflix and I'm just sticking to this site and trying to stay off Facebook as much as I can. If I could just sleep until November 8th until it's all over with I would!

@@Hammer_Down I love this analogy! There is no way a 47 gain in 3 months would be considered slow. Similarly, I don't understand how anyone could consider a 47 lb loss in 3 months slow. If surgeons are placing unrealistic expectations on their patients, they need to stop. If patients have unrealistic expectations and somehow think they're going to wake up from surgery thin, that needs to stop too.
As far as the stall, you've lost almost 50 lbs. Your body needs time to adjust to the loss and settle in. Taking photos is a great idea. So is taking measurements since it's likely that you're losing inches even if you're not losing lbs. For example, I'm 4 months post revision to RNY and 2 lbs from goal. I keep gaining and losing the same 2 lbs, yet my clothes are once again falling off me. I may not be losing any weight, but I must be losing inches/my body must be adapting, otherwise everything would be the same.
To the OP, I hope you listen to the smart vets on this site and ratchet down your expectations a bit. You're likely to go through many more slow loss periods or actual stalls and if you don't make peace with that, you'll likely be unhappy with the process.

Consider masked cauliflower s with a splash of milk and a bit of butter instead of potatoes, far less calories and carbs. Same with canned cream Soup. I make cream Soup by cooking a pound of low cal veggies and preening with broth and milk. I decide up into 6oz containers. After heating it (up to 140 degrees or the Protein will clump. I add a scoop of unflavored Protein power mixed with enough warm milk to make it smooth.
You can substitute 1/2 can unsweetened coconut milk for the 1% milk for more fat and a different flavor. ,I like curry coconut

That is very rough. I would suggest doing this for yourself, maybe even more so if you are going to be on your own.
Either way, this procedure will help boost your self confidence. It is the ultimate gift you can give yourself - a prolonged life and a chance to start over, regardless of what happens with your marriage.
I hope this works out for you, whichever direction you want your life to take.

If you gained 52 lbs in just 3 months you wouldn't consider yourself a slow gainer, or consider that to be healthy change to your metabolism.
This is a marathon, not a 500 yard dash. Long term success depends on you staying with the program in the long term and making healthy choices. It sounds like you are doing great.
My wife only has about 50 lbs to lose, she fully expects it take about a year.

Hammer_Down got a reaction from shelbys mom in Seriously....this heart burn every single night
My understanding was that people who suffer from GERD aren't great candidates for sleeve surgery and do better with a bypass.
Even people (like myself) who never had chronic heartburn can develop some heartburn post sleeve. If I drink too close to bedtime, I get some mild discomfort (not actual burning in the throat, but some warmness in my chest) but I am not taking anything yet, in the hopes my stomache will naturally start to produce less acid.
