Hello everyone, my original name on here was Anthony74. I was unjustly kicked off this site because I posted a mistake that I made by eating a grilled cheese sandwich too early. Only after I had been called out of my name several times by so called Bariatric vets, that I snapped and used vulgar language to get my point across to these bullies. Shortly after, I was kicked out the site. I just wanna lose weight and swap experiences with others. We all grow from mistakes. If I offended anyone other than those certain bullies that I won't name, I apologize!!! Let's win together!

Hello everyone, my name is JoAnna, I'm 25yrs old and I've been following this forum for about a month since my doctor recommended a bariatric forum in his seminar. I've been reading everyone's success stories from beginning to end, reading from those who's had surgery, those preparing for surgery and all the information in between to educate myself. I've had all of my pre-procedure appointments and after a slight delay from my insurance (because I have hypothyroidism and they wouldn't give approval until my thyroid was back in normal range) the bariatric people called yesterday telling me I'm approved and I'm scheduled to have the VSG this Wednesday Nov 23rd! I'm excited but not nervous yet (I probably will be the day of though). Anyways my start weight was 288lbs and since October 14th when my doctor put me on his diet of breakfast: 1egg, 1toast lunch & dinner: lean cuisine, smart ones or Atkins, I've lost 17lbs in a month, which I never thought I could do. I've already picked up my first batch of Vitamins, Protein shakes, liquids and soft foods I'll need for after surgery and the following couple weeks. I can't wait! I'm very excited for this life changing, lifesaving, lifestyle change.

I lost 16 lbs my first month, but I've lost 216 lbs altogether. People lose at different rates; just stick to your program and you *will* lose. Like the above commenter, I lost a bunch of weight before surgery (57 lbs, to be exact). People who do that sometimes lose slower that first month post-surgery, from what I've seen lurking around these boards for a couple of years. It could be that people who lose a ton that first month are losing a lot of Water, and for those of us who lost a lot of weight before surgery, that "water weight" is long gone.

Thanks for the encouragement. I had the sleeve done in 2013 and lost 130 lbs and had my revision on Oct 26 and only lost 11 lbs but I did lose 6 lbs of Water weight after the surgery. Not gonna give up still have another 100 lbs to lose.

Hi there. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on November 9th 2016.
I was 470 pounds before the 2 week pre-op diet. Was down to 440 the day of surgery and now one week post-op I'm 420.
I made a video that tells my story better than typing it. I'll do another video in a month or so I guess.

I agree to an extent. I didn't lose a lot to begin with (65lbs) but I lost enough that I considered my surgery a success. I certainly felt better and was healthier than before. I feel like I never did solidify great eating habits completely. I did well enough to keep the weight off for 3 years, but if my eating had been better, I would have likely lost more.
Then, I got pregnant....and everything changed. My entire body feels foreign now, even my hair. I used to have very naturally curly hair, and now it's stick straight. I feel like that's an outward illustration of all the changes to my body. I had to have my band unfilled and never got correct restriction back. We had a very sick child for a while, and it was sooo easy to go back to my poor eating habits and I had no restriction to help me.
I take 75% of the blame for my regain. I lay the other 25% on my endocrine system and a persnickety band that has me vomiting 3-4 days a week until late in the day.
I am hoping this time to make my changes permanent. I can't afford to keep this weight on. I have a child I didn't have before and she is the best motivation I have to take care of my health and model good eating habits.
I do feel I'll be successful because I have already, prerevision, made some very good changes to my habits. It's all different to me this time.

I am more than my weight and so is everyone else. I have been attracted to overweight men and well as men who are at a healthy weight. It just depends on who the person is and what their personality is like.

I am so happy today I was sleeved this time last year on this day at 387 pounds and felt like I was headed to my death bed if I didn't make some changes. This is by far the best decision I have ever made for myself. I hit onederland (199) today as well and have surpassed all of my surgeons expectations. That is a total weight loss of 188 pounds and from a size 32 to a 14 in 1 year never thought I would see the scale for myself under 200 again. I feel great I exercise everyday and I am not dying of starvation! LOL! The best part is I think for the 1st time in my adult life I am truly happy and not just hiding behind a smile.

Nicole42 reacted to Hopeful16 in just a rant.. talking myself into this
So you know this post has no purpose. It’s me venting to people I don’t know so I can say anything which is a amazing because I’ve been pretty quiet at home ( Cant scare my hubby).
So my surgery is tomorrow and I’m defiantly nervous.. How much pain am I going to be in ... ? Is this really going to help us get pregnant in the end?? Am I going to be more obsessed with my looks then with the whole reason I’m doing this in the first place? Am I going to maintain a healthy weight After surgery? Will I even get to a healthy weight !? I feel like my head is going to explode. Then the darker things like are people going to say I took the easy way? I’m so sick of people in general . It’s great that people have success with weight loss with self-motivation, diet and exercise, but man is it rough when you have 120 or more to lose to be " healthy" that’s a person! I need to lose a whole fucking person .. So yeah I’m doing this . No regrets. I’m going to be fine and my husband and I are going to make a baby and we are going to be those happy people!

.... Well... ok lol that was beneficial

One of my favorite meals is something we jokingly refer to as "bad jew food". Its lox and Bagels (a Kosher deli food) with bacon (def not kosher) and avocado. Some family members add sliced onion and Tomato.
I really wanted to participate in this family meal and found a way to do so. Lenders mini bagels. 1 bagel has only 65 cals and 13 carbs.
This one has 0.5 oz cream cheese, 0.5 oz bacon and 0.5oz lox and totally filled me up and satisfied my craving.
One mini instead of two full sized bagels, which is what I would normally have eaten.

To begin with, I am 2 months post op and have had a great recovery. I am one of those people that RARELY get on a scale because I know I will obsess and pretzel brain twist over the number. I don't even own a scale to be honest. Anyway, my husband and I were going to dinner last night...and instead of wearing my usual black stretchy Pallazo Pants or Yoga Pants that I desperately attempt to dress up...I decided to try an old pair of jeans on in order to "gauge" where I am (I have a closet FULL of my "thin" clothes that I could just never get rid of). Much to my amazement, the jeans FIT! They were a size 14...but they fit! And not like "busted can of biscuits" fit, but actually FIT. My ultimate goal is my size 8's that are also collecting dust in there...but dang this was a start! I haven't worn those jeans in over 5 years. I haven't worn ANY jeans in over 5 years. Once I outgrew those...I threw in the towel and gave up. What great motivation....I cried.

I just scheduled my surgery for December 15th! It's been a long journey but it's finally going to happen! I have been looking into weight-loss surgery for 6 years now. I never thought I would ever be able to go through with it. My insurance always had an exclusion and I could never afford to pay cash. However, I went back to school and started a new career in the medical field. I was so excited to find out that my new insurance would pay for the procedure however I would need to have 24mo's over coverage and then 6mo of nutritional visits.
It's all behind me now and December 15th is my day!

If 5 days out was Halloween then you're 10 days out? I was on purees at this point and could eat about 2 oz, or 1/4 cup at a sitting.
I could basically gulp water at one week out.
I also had staples but didn't have any problem with them.
You can't really give up, lol. 85% of your stomach is gone forever!!
Yes, cheese sticks and chicken tenders at day 5 was probably a big mistake. I'm not cleared for anything like chicken tenders until week 8. However, you need to talk to your team and tell them. You broke a rule and you're definitely not the first. You need to get a list of appropriate foods and amounts!
I'm shocked at how many people got so little post op info from their doctors.

Sounds like you need to get in touch with the dietitian on staff at your doctors office. Most of the time they can provide you with a list of foods and quantities. If you already have a nutritionist don't hesitate to call them that's what they're there for. None of us are perfect and they don't expect us to be. Good Luck!
