Night got a reaction from XYZXYZXYZ1955 in Meeting Goals
So I'm currently 2 weeks post-op. For my surgeon, this is the mushy/soft/pureed stage (yup, altogether). At this point, it's suggested meals are 1/2 cup or 4 oz of food. And the plan is to have one Protein shake in the morning, 2 of the half cups meals and another Protein Shake sometimes throughout the day. Where the heck do I fit all this?
I can never ever eat a full half cup of food and just now I ate 2.5oz of salmon and while my stomach tolerated it very well (no upset at all), I overestimated capacity and that was just too much food.
So, two questions - how can I possibly manage to get in my Protein goals if I can only get down 20g in food and another 25g in a shake? (I can't do two - I never finish; I barely finish one)... Protein goal is 60-80g daily. I feel like there's just not enough room - which is, of course, part of the point of wls. I just feel like I'm failing in not being able to meet this goal. So I'm just looking for some guidance - how do y'all do it?
My second question is what sorts of cues does your body give you that it's full? The 'I'm full' feeling is very different for me after wls and I'm jsut trying to figure out exactly when I'm full vs nope too much.

Night got a reaction from RDHender in Ideas on Getting Free from This Slump?
I would say that sounds about average for my protein amount. Unfortunately, I can't do just protein. I've developed an allergy to whey protein and haven't found an alternative I can stomach (tried egg white, pea, rice, hemp). Also my nut is very adamant against using protein powders/shakes, too.

Night got a reaction from Wonder WomanNJ in Pre Op Liquid Nausea?
Hi guys. I've been on my pre-op liquid diet since 12/6 and been getting some killer nausea. I almost had to get off the bus to work to hork. :/
It's highly unpleasant! Discover anyone else experience this during their pre-op diet? And does anyone have any suggestions?
For reference, my pre-op diet allows no solid food whatsoever. A typical day is coffee w/protein powder, a sugar free Jello, soy milk w/protein powder, broth, then some Protein sugar free jello.

So I got notice today that I was approved!
After clearing up that false stipulation (turns out being on the health plan for one year before surgery is a stipulation for a dependent or spouse - of which I'm neither!), they sent the claim back to processing. I called the Dr's office because insurance needed more clinicals. Then by this afternoon, I got notice from the Dr's office that I've been approved and we are good to go!
Apparently the surgery scheduler took it upon herself to give my insurance a big ol' call about speeding things up haha. I'm so relieved I could keel right over!

Yes stay on them. I called everyday until my approval came which was 5 days. So stay on them. They usually denie everyone. Cigna is known for that but usually when you appeal they overturn miraculously. Stay optimistic .

For tuna salad mush - instead of using mayo, you could try adding a bit of ripe avocado to moisten it.

My favorite Protein is SDC About Time brand. chocolate is delicious. 1 serving of the Protein is 100 cal & 25g of protein iirc. Personally, I like mixing it w/ soy milk, but that does add another 100 cal. Mixing it with cold, black coffee is an option as well for added flavor beyond Water.
A protein I enjoyed mixed with Water was Syntrax nectar Fuzzy Navel. I tried several of their flavors and everything was awful, excepting this flavor. It is fairly sweet, however.
I know when I was trying out differing Proteins, I ordered a bunch of samples from Nashua Nutrition.
