  1. Oh that might be a good idea! I'm a little worried about the idea of eating when not hungry, but I might try it to get extra protein in. Still debating :/
  2. I would say that sounds about average for my protein amount. Unfortunately, I can't do just protein. I've developed an allergy to whey protein and haven't found an alternative I can stomach (tried egg white, pea, rice, hemp). Also my nut is very adamant against using protein powders/shakes, too.
  3. Hoping for some insight from you guys! I want to preface this with that ofc I'll be talking to my nut & Dr (appt on the 27th), but I figured I'd crowd-source before then. Basically, I feel like I've been stalled for over a month. Surgery date was Dec 2016, HW 374, Current weight is fluctuating between 318-308, but I can't seem to dip below 308. I exercise three times a week at the gym for 50min-1hour each time. Then at home two times a week I do 20-30min with weights. My caloric consumption (which I do track excessively haha) ranges from 850-1,100 daily. I'm taking vitamins, although I admit I'm not as regular with any vitamin as I should be excepting the B12 and D. No food really causes me discomfort anymore, excepting rice (always avoid it), lettuce (spinach is fine), and sometimes red meat. I eat protein at every meal. A standard example of a day for me would be 2 medium hard boiled eggs in the morning, then for lunch 4 oz of baked chicken plus some veg - usually cauliflower because I love that ****. And for dinner, I tend to eat something like a baked tilapia filet, the more veg. Or I'll eat a mini sandwich. Tbh, I feel like I'm not doing that bad, I don't overstuff myself, I eat when I'm hungry, I drink water, coffee, and tea (sometimes soymilk)... I'm kind of at a loss of what I need to change. Any ideas?

    Meeting Goals

I do use predominantly unflavored Protein powder for the drink side of things - usually mixed with almond milk and decaf coffee and stevia. The stevia masks a lot of the whey aftertaste, but not all of it. And the chocolate powder I used before now just makes me gag. If I could get in most of my protein with food, I think I'd be happier, but there's jsut not enough room right now. sigh.
  5. So I'm currently 2 weeks post-op. For my surgeon, this is the mushy/soft/pureed stage (yup, altogether). At this point, it's suggested meals are 1/2 cup or 4 oz of food. And the plan is to have one Protein shake in the morning, 2 of the half cups meals and another Protein Shake sometimes throughout the day. Where the heck do I fit all this? I can never ever eat a full half cup of food and just now I ate 2.5oz of salmon and while my stomach tolerated it very well (no upset at all), I overestimated capacity and that was just too much food. So, two questions - how can I possibly manage to get in my protein goals if I can only get down 20g in food and another 25g in a shake? (I can't do two - I never finish; I barely finish one)... Protein goal is 60-80g daily. I feel like there's just not enough room - which is, of course, part of the point of wls. I just feel like I'm failing in not being able to meet this goal. So I'm just looking for some guidance - how do y'all do it? My second question is what sorts of cues does your body give you that it's full? The 'I'm full' feeling is very different for me after wls and I'm jsut trying to figure out exactly when I'm full vs nope too much.

    Protein shake

I can't do any of the premade stuff, sadly. I get a powder (about time sdc ) and mix it into either soy or almond milk Sent from my electric toaster using the BariatricPal App.

  8. I couldn't tolerate Jello at allllll. the first liquid after Water I tolerated well was cream of mushroom Soup. even broth was hit or miss. gl, it'll stop hurting on some things soon and....start on others lol but we'll get there. Sent from my electric toaster using the BariatricPal App.
  9. so far okay. Having issues with a metallic taste in my mouth messing with my ability to consume my shakes (makes me gag!). I'm a little too focused in the now to worry about five years ahead, I think. Especially since I'm so very much in the beginning of my journey. However, I do know a girl about 2.5 years out from bypass and another 3 years out from sleeve and both are doing very well. Sent from my electric toaster using the BariatricPal App.

    Mixing protein supplements

I've doubled up on scoops of Protein before in one shake. While it was palatable, it was also very thick. My stomach didn't like the texture and it say very heavily.
