  1. Have you looked on Amazon for shakes? I just quickly searched Amazon .co .uk and found 2 that are similar to my Bariatric Choice shakes~Harvey and CoCo Slinky Shake: 23 shakes for 10 pounds and Stripfast 5000 for 20 pounds. Both ship Prime so if you are a Prime member you get free shipping in 2 days. It could just be marketing but the Harvey and CoCo looks really good to me!
  2. Hello Kel, My name is Sara and I am also a recovering BigMac addict. It is amazing to me that I used to eat individual items that are an entire day's worth of calories!

    Women!

My all in one Bariatric Choice chewable wafer supplement has Iron in it~ and it is like sucking on a candy- yum But just in case your tiredness isn't from low iron, the nurse at my clinic always says that if we start to feel that way to start charting: 1)how much Protein we are getting in 2)how many fluids 3)how often we are taking our Vitamins and are e taking enough? She said that often we will find that we aren't doing what we are supposed to be doing and that's why we get really low energy. Also~ my sister had extremely low Bs. It affected her very badly with low energy. She ended up getting a B shot every week. She said she felt so much better right after getting it too. If it continues def go to the dr and see what's up! I hope it passes quickly, I hate that feeling

    Just told me MIL

I had initially decided to NOT tell my MIL.. She is very thin, judgemental and my biggest critic. It was my mother who told her (gee, thanks Mom). She knew but never said anything until a week before I went in. We were talking about my weight (a usual topic around the table at her house) and she said she thought I had surgery when I went out of town a few weeks before. I was surprised that she would even be thinking about it but she seemed to be ok with it so I broke down and told her. To my complete surprise she has been my biggest supporter. She even bought bariatric shakes and has been drinking them and said she is proud of me. Who ever would have thought??
  5. I felt completely back to normal somehow at 4 days. No pain, no nausea, no acid reflux, not even any gas. I'm sorry if you did. And, if you don't know what to say perhaps it's best to say nothing...
  6. No, it was not approved at 5 days. It was completely my choice. My team said full liquids at that point and I drank it with a lot of Water over 3 hours. No harm done.
  7. I guess I say "hoping" because so many things change with weight loss. Hormonally things tend to "reset", I will be eating healthier than ever~ or will be when I can have solids and I might be deficient in something that is resolved. And there are still a lot of things that are unexplained about bipolar and about the surgery... I guess I will see... I may also just be in denial about being BPII
  8. BP II here, stable and on medication~ I was concerned too. My Dr was more concerned about stability and medication and I was approved. Good you found another Dr. Has anyone been able to go off their meds since the surgery? I was thinking that maybe (hopefully!) I'd be able to go off mine eventually.

    Questions

I am 5 days post op and went out for the first time with friends last night. I felt a bit disconnected as well. As everyone else was eating I couldn't. I just said my tummy was not feeling too well because I haven't told my friends about the surgery. In the future (especially when everyone can tell I'm losing weight) I think I will just explain that I am on such a great diet that I don't want to cheat. I will definitely still go have a glass of wine with them and eat some tomato Soup or something that I can eat while they eat their meal.
  10. I was concerned about that same thing~ my social life pretty much revolves around having a glass of wine with the girls (I live in wine country after all). I am only 5 days post op and I had a 5 oz glass of wine last night. I drank it over 3 hours and sipped Water in between sips of wine. I was worried about getting wasted in public so I told my husband to kick me under the table if I started acting silly. No bruises If I were you I would make sure I had a Protein shake before I go and bring high protein Soup mix. At the wedding ask for some hot water in a bowl or if you don't think you can obtain some from the servers bring it in a double walled bottle as a backup and use a coffee cup. If people ask you why you aren't eating just tell them you are on a diet and was on such a weight loss roll you didn't want to stop. I really like the ProtiDiet tomato soup but that is a personal preference.

    Burping and feel no restriction

I'm 5 days out of surgery and am feeling the same thing with only taking liquids. I didn't realize how fast I was drinking my Vitamin drink and downed 16 oz in 30 mins just now! I used to get a pain in the upper left quadrant when I was drinking too much but that has stopped. I'm glad to hear that this happens to other people and that I haven't necessarily stretched my stomach out! I hope this stops soon and I feel as bad as they say you do if you if you eat too much!

    Hair loss

I've only heard of taking massive amounts of Biotin even before the surgery to help prevent it. I am not looking forward to it either~ hopefully my efforts pay off and it won't happen as drastically with all the biotin I've been taking!

    What do you tell them?

I'm only 1 week post-op but so far I've been saying that I am on a Protein shake diet. They can think what they want and say how "unhealthy" it is to only drink Protein shakes but I just say it was time to do something drastic. I also told people I had gallbladder surgery during the time I was in the hospital. I don't like to lie to people but I also don't feel like dealing with judgements and negative comments about weight loss surgery.
