Yardsleever reacted to Finding Erika in 2 month stall
    Hey Whit
    I'm the same - almost exactly- I was December 6th though. I started at 240 and now I'm only 185 so I've lost 55-
When I saw my doc and but last week they both said I wasn't eating enough and was exercising too much- huh?! So they have me eating 3 meals each of 6 oz and 2 Protein Shakes (mid morning and mid afternoon-). I cut back my gym time to 1-2 days a week for resistance stuff with the trainer and 2-3x 30" for cardio a week

I wont baby you. All i did was tell you what you already know and what your doctor SHOULDVE explained to you before the surgery. You are three weeks out, on here commenting that your life is over and everything is ruined....after THREE WEEKS.

What you should be doing is focusing on your program:
    Drink water
    Eat popsicles or Jello
    Get lots of rest
find something to engage your mind - and keep you from dwelling on these depressive thoughts you described here
start working on Protein intake to meet that goal

You can worry about your friends and your old life and doing all the things from a social aspect later.

This isnt a Jerky comment....this is providing you an ANSWER to help your original question, but you dont want to hear it so you take offense.

Are you weighing all of your food and tracking everything down to the calorie/carb gram/protein gram/etc? I ask that because it's easy to underestimate food intake when you don't weigh and track. If you're eating 700-900 calories per day, I don't see why you would stall for that long. You didn't mention your carb intake. Depending on how many carbs you eat per day, that might be part of your problem.
At this stage of the game, it is mostly about consumption, not exercise. Typically, weight loss stops if there is an issue with consumption, not because you are not exercising enough.

Yardsleever reacted to pharmD_vsg in Stall ... for almost a month ... so frustrating
    A little background about me
    VSG on 12/30/16
    HW: 263
    SW:249
    CW:199.5
I have been stuck on 199 pretty much since the beginning of may, I keep bouncing between 197-200lbs. It's so frustrating and depressing when you are doing everything you should be doing and still no result based on the scale.
I have been eating mostly Proteins and trying to get all my fluids in. My carbs consumption is max of 15g, if that.
I walk/jog or do elliptical at least for 4 miles a day. So I don't know what else to do.
On top of all that I have lost 1/3 of my hair, definitely noticeable amount of hair and still shedding like crazy which I wouldn't care if I was seeing results ( on scale).
Size wise, I can definitely see that I have been shrinking, even in the past month that scale has been going up and down. What worries me is when I have to go back to see my surgeon, he didn't take measurements of my body, he will only see the number on the scale and I don't want him to think I'm not following my diet and exercise correctly.
What am I doing wrong ??? Please help!

Yardsleever reacted to Introversion in Hair loss?
In all likelihood you'll lose hair regardless of the bariatric surgery type you undergo. It's due to a process called telogen effluvium:
    http://www.americanhairloss.org/types_of_hair_loss/effluviums.asp
The Hair loss typically begins three to four months after the surgery and subsides within a few months. Some people swear by Biotin supplements and Progaine Shampoo and conditioner, but only time will resolve the issue.

Hey everybody! It sounds like you are all doing so well. I am coming along, slowly but surely, as well, although sometimes a bit frustrated. I hit my -50lb mark (starting from my first consult on 6/8/16) sometime last week, then it went back up. I've hit quite a few stalls. My endocrinologist lowered my thyroid meds about a month after surgery, but I'm wondering if it was too premature. I also had an affair with Goldfish crackers...we finally broke up. I just don't want that kind of relationship, although we may "hook up" from time to time. I'm not really missing them though. I actually feel MORE restriction and less hunger since stopping my Goldfish habit. Interesting, right?! Still, I went from a size 24 to 16/18 pants and 3x to 1x in about 10 months, so that's nice!

It would be great to meet up again soon.

I'm seven months post-op. While I'm happy to have lost 44 pounds, I've been stuck since January. I'll lose a pound or two, then gain a pound or two. I know two other people who've had the same surgery and are also at their plateau. Has anyone else gone through this? What did you do to break it? I need to lose another 20 pounds, at least. I'm so frustrated! I've even started working out. Nothing.

I'm not on here much as most of you are pre surgery or going through the weight loss process. I do pop up now and then just to let you know what's doing in terms of living life post WLS.
I'm four years post surgery and have been in maintenance for about 2 1/2 years. When I do come on the boards, I see posts about what to eat, what not to eat, how much weight has been lost, how much has been gained, and other similar topics. When I was in the early stages of my weight loss journey, i read and posted alot regarding those same issues. Now that I'm further out, I don't focus on the details...I just focus on living my life as a normal sized person with all that entails.
I just wanted to post these two pictures to show the new folks that you can be successful with weight loss. Know that while I'm smiling in the before and after pictures, I was not happy in the before shots because of the issues surrounding my obesity. Also know that I have been, and am still in therapy to address my food addiction and the root causes of my obesity. It's my path and know that I'm not advocating that this should be part of yours.
Again, I'm here just as a reminder that once the newness is over, the weight loss is done, and the emotions settle down....this is the reason I had the surgery. It's about health, mobility, and living my life rather than watching from the sidelines.
