  1. If it was me I would be talking to my surgeon (or maybe my primary) about this. I hope it is nothing major and you get it worked out very soon.
  2. I started walking after my WLS and it helps. I walk if I get hungry or if I get upset or I cant stand anyone at work or whatever. Not only does it help make me healthier but it helps take my mind off from things.
  3. I have heard a lot of people buy the baby forks and spoons so that they take smaller bites.
  4. Has anyone had surgery to stop your coccyx (tail bone from hurting)? I bought a coccyx cushion for my car and I see a chiropractor once a month for adjustments but it only helps for a little while.
  5. Congratulations! Just try to keep a positive attitude. For me it was the best thing I ever did for myself. It will get frustrating however you just need to keep your eye on the prize. Also, don't judge your weight loss against anyone else but yourself.
  6. I work for the DoD and we have small stores in our buildings that are run by the Council for the Blind. Now, only one of the stores is run by someone blind. All the others are run by individuals that are almost blind. Well, I was told by one of the guys that I look sickly, sunken face and that I need to gain weight. This was about a month after WLS. I was like WOW!
  7. Wal-Mart, Target, Meijer, and Sam's Club.
  8. It depends on your weight and if you have other weight related issues. Based off my BMI (it was 35) I was not eligible for WLS. However, I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type II diabetes and sleep apnea. The only thing I regret is that I didn't have my RNY surgery sooner. The woman that gave birth to me had the same issues as me when she dropped dead. They didn't find her body until three days after she died. She died in her own home. Based on that it was a no brainer for me.

LOL! I get the same way. I am constantly looking to see if anyone is around me. You never know if it will be silent of loud. LOL
  10. I have no idea how my surgeon decided on my goal weight. I am down 95 pounds and it has been a great journey. I never in a million years would have thought that I would ever be able to wear a small (pre surgery I was wearing X-Large shirts (sometimes 2X)and size 38 to 40 pants) and size 28 pants (soon I will have to start shopping in the boys section). There have been up times and down times. It is so hard to not eat what everyone else is eating (like is someone brings in cake or cookies or donuts to work) but I have determined that it is all mind over matter. I don't mind and it don't matter. The best thing I can say is don't judge your weight loss off of anyone else but yourself. Our weightloss journeys are just that. Ours. Everyone is different. Stay the course. Stay on program and if you fall off the wagon, dust yourself off and get yourself back on the wagon.

So I just received a phone call from my primary at the VA hospital wanting me to start taking Lipitor again (I stopped taking it the day before my surgery almost 7 months ago) because even though my blood sugar looks great I am still a "DIABETIC". I had blood word done last month and according to my A1C number I am a pre-diabetic. I have lost almost 100 pounds, am at a healthy BMI and on a low dose of Metformin. Her telling me that was almost like getting kicked in the you know where. What a great stat to the day. Oh well, I guess I need to build a bridge and get over it. Pity party is now over, please continue on with your day.
  12. WOW! That is me to a t. I am really hoping that it goes away in time.

I am thinking that I need to be doing the app everyday. I was told that I should take a day off in between sessions. Is anyone else skipping a day between sessions?
  14. Sure. Based off my BMI alone I was not eligible for WLS. The cholesterol, high BP, diabetes and sleep apnea is what put it over the top. I am currently down 95.3 pounds. I am almost 5 pounds under my surgeon's goal weight.

    Congratulations!
  16. I only weigh myself on Monday morning. Right after I had the surgery I was weighing myself daily and driving myself crazy. Now that I have reached the goal weight I may just do it every other week or once a month.
  17. Off the BP meds, the cholesterol meds and went from 1500 mg Metformin with two types of insulin to 500 mg Metformin. I am hoping the Metformin will be a thing of the past when my next blood work is done.
  18. CONGRATULATIONS! My A1C still has me as a "pre-diabetic" but I am hoping that the next blood work will show that I am normal again.
  19. So wait, let me get this straight. The moral of the story is that pizza gives you atomic burps?????? LOL. Thanks for sharing your story with us.
  20. My surgeon recommended 6 month post op, but I am waiting until June (my 6 months was 20 April).
  21. YIKES! I am sorry that you have this but I am happy that they figured out what it was and have a plan of attack to clear it up. Good luck to you.
  22. I am not a fish person or a vegetable person. I have not tried any of this stuff since my RNY surgery (almost 7 months ago). There is a reason that I never ate it before and I really am not interested in eating it now. I know that probably isn't the right thing to do/say but, it is how I feel.
  23. What a great article. Thank you for writing it.
  24. I only know of one person who has been sleeved at the VA hospital (but it has been here in Michigan). I decided to have my RNY done in a private hospital (not the VA) just because I know how long it takes to get anything done at the VA. Good luck to you and thank you for your service.
