Maggie: Dr.Farhan was great. The first two weeks of the liquid diet was hard. It took alot of willpower and wanting the band bad enough. Surgery went well. Stayed overnight witch wasn't bad but the beds are the worst. They gave good pain control. You have a morphine pump. They make sure you have alot of nausea control.I wasn't in to much pain. Went and got staples out at two weeks. they healed great. Oct.8 I get my first fill. I have lost 20 lbs. I know that doesn't sound like a lot but everyone is different. Just make sure you walk as much as you can I makes a difference.It made me feel better. Good luck and I will have you in my prayers. I know you will do great. RaeShelle

Hi All, Surgery went well. I get staples out Wednesday.I have lost 20 lbs. Still have pain up under my breast bone and up under my ribs but all is good. Now just wait to see what is the next stage.:biggrin:

Hi All I have my surgery Monday the 25th up at Hurley. I am now getting very scared. Can you tell me what they did to you after surgery? And before surgery, did you stay over night please give me the details!!!! I have never had surgery before. RaeShelle

Kita, It depends on witch Tricare you have. I have tricare Standard. I am also 100 lbs overweight, type 2 diabetic, high lipids, high blood pressure. also I am Adopted so i have no family history to go by for my health. My Dr. sent in everything to tricare and they said that I didn't need pre autherzation for Lap-Band becouse it was standard on my insurance. I would call tricare and make sure you are covered and have the doctor send everything in.

Robin, What Tricare does he have? I have Tricare standard. As of February of 2008 TriCare covers lapband if you meet the criteria. Go on the tricare web site. It is www.tricare.gov I hope this helps. RaeShelle

Well, Tricare approved me:smile: My pe-opt is July 30th and nutrition class July 31st and Surgery Aug 25.:biggrin2:. Dr. Farhan will be doing my surgery at Hurley in Flint.

Hi Everyone, I am awaiting for my insurance company to clear me. In the meantime has anyone had Dr.Farhan from Flint,Mi at Hurley Bariartics for lap-Band. Chris, I am also Tricare North. I have all my medical testing done and waiting approval from Tricare. Then if all goes well surgery date. I hope soon. I have waited so long for Tricare to cover this surgery. Where are you at in this journey? Chat later, RaeShelle
