Feel like this whole journey has been a whirlwind, and all the sacrifices will be worth it.. painfully needed to admit to myself I had a problem and was tired of doing nothing about it! I thank you all for sharing your experiences and advice! It has made all the difference in the world to me! Best of luck to all of you.

I saw my surgeon and my NUT today, 16 days post op. I was thrilled to graduate to soft foods! On my way home, I stopped at Whole Foods.
For my first meal after a full month of liquids, I had two of my favorite things: Ahi tuna Sashimi (I had three little slices, about 2 oz total) and tonight for dinner I had about two bites of salmon and the "meat" of very soft steamed artichoke, about 3 leaves. It was so funny to look down at my plate and see my teeny tiny dinner! And I was full soooo fast.
I'm very happy to be open soft foods. I love to cook and experiment, and I love fish, so...yay!

I am sincerely sorry to hear that and hope whatever problems you have get resolved. For me and my husband, it really was lifesaving with the severe health problems. Big hug.

My boyfriend/ now fiancé was so against it but respected my decision. He was worried about the surgery itself and let's just say food is a big part of our life. With that being said. I'm 2 weeks post op. He is my biggest supporter and my accountability. food is still a big part of our life. We still go out, socialize. I just eat differently. I still cook and love to bake. He gets to enjoy my new recipes. It's not always about them scared of loosing you in a relationship stand point. He was just plain scared.

Hi there! I had my first appointment with the surgeon today. I have a 3 month supervised diet to go through where I have to lose 17 pounds. I will also have to do labs, EKG, a meeting with a nutritionist, and the psych eval. Seems pretty standard. Looking forward to this new stage in my life.

I didn't tell anyone but my BFF until after I saw my doctor and started the process. I said the same thing to everyone. I have decided to get bypass surgery and no one is going to talk me out if it. My husband said I will support you. My kids were upset and said noooooo. My Mom cried and my sister tried to talk me out of it up to the day of surgery. I went from 283 to 126. I have my life back. Best thing I ever did. Your BF is feeling insecure and is worried you will leave him once you are thin. He needs to know that's not you and if he doesn't support you now you will resent him when you do loose weight for not standing behind you. He can either go with it or stay behind. Good luck

Oh man, getting off of the BP meds took care of all of my problems. And of course the improved circulation helps of course. I was never diagnosed with ED, but I know there were times when the mid was willing but the body was not.

    Hi Missbeautry16
I had my RNY 3 years ago. I am one of the lucky because I still have no physical hunger at all. BUT....wuth that being said I still fight mind hunger!! It really it's sad that the WLS doesn't fix our heads!! I also didn't have much gas after my surgery. I have gas now but I use PAPAYA ENZYMES and they have absolutely have saved my life. I did become LACTOSE INTOLERANT but some dairy doesn't bother me. Strange but true. Now the best advice I have is KEEP YOUR EYES ONN THE PRIZE!! Remember why you are having this done. Follow everything that your Surgeon and nutritionist guidelines. Everything they tell you help. The Preop helps with your liver. It shrinks it so the DR can get in and do what he needs to do, the have to move it around so if it's smaller there is less chance of bleeding. Postop everything they tell you to do about the stages of food do them. You just had major surgery and our new pouches need time to heal. After your surgery, you will need to sip and sip some more it is very important to get your fluids in the small pouch makes it so easy to get dehydrated quickly. Also get up and walk as soon and as often as you can. I hope this helps you and I look forward to following your journey. Good Luck

A dress in case you don't tolerate the waist band of your pants. Charger for your phone. Clean undies for day going home. shoes to walk the halls. If you have any meds, bring them. That's it. Time goes fast. You phone and tv will occupy you.

My sister is going to get bariatric there too and she goes to the sunset one, and also had heart surgery there. Nope, he said if I insist on the not recommended procedure the sleeve, I will have to get a GI xray and he'll probably have to operate a hernia. It was a lot of information but that's what I understood. I can't risk having the acid get worse I'm accepting the rny option. Just sucks cause I was pumped about the sleeve since 2014. I gotta do what's in my best interest Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

I finished my Kaiser Permanente options classes, did all the lab and x-rays. I went to meet my surgeon on Thursday and he is pushing for roux en y because I have GERD. Anyone else have this happen to them? I didn't realize acid reflex was a big issue for getting the sleeve. any input would be greatly appreciated.
