I hope you're kidding because the topic title and opening post are pulsing with ironic, offbeat humor. You may have written what would be an award-winning infomercial for bariatric surgery. Colbert, Oliver and the rest will be clamoring for you.

Dare I ask the question? We all know what we will gain while losing weight; health, mobility, range of motion, a more rich and full life (and it's totally worth it!). But, what do you miss or think you will miss about being obese?
For me: I remember not being obese (my childhood and some of my teenage years). I remember being cold all the time. Right now I just don't really know what being cold is anymore and I'm not looking forward to freezing all the time.
I'm also afraid that my butt will hurt when I sit down. My mom lost a lot of weight and now she complains that it hurts to sit in hard or stiffly cushioned chairs.
Also, I am very "blessed" in the boobular region. My girls are huge, heavy and floppy. When I don't have any pockets, it's just easy to carry just about anything under them (without a bra - which is at home only) or tuck away anything in my size H cup bra. I can hide a small dog in there! I just know they're gonna shrivel up!

Funny topic, but yeah, there are a few things:
Yes, being cold all the time
    Yes, butt hurting
Bones, bones everywhere. Hip bones stick out and knees are boney and both of these make sleeping on my side difficult.
All small prices to pay, but there are down sides to being a "normal sized" person.

kathy Garibay reacted to ♥dreamable in Dating & Sexy times when they don't know you've had surgery/significant weight loss
Brief history: I have been single for 4 years. I am 1 year out from my surgery. I am still a bit away from my goal- but have lost a significant amount of weight at this point. I just started dating.
While my confidence is really high when I am in clothes (the right undergarments make everything look so nice and make me look so much smaller when I wear them haha) I am really scared about when/if things progress and clothes are being removed. The last date I was on his hands were touching over my clothes and I'm pretty sure he could feel that I had something on that went halfway up my back.
Anyway- he doesn't know about my surgery yet- and it's not something I feel I need to discuss on the first or second date (just my personal preference).
One of my really good male friends a few years ago made a comment once about how to slept with a women and he didn't know she had surgery until they were naked and he said it really turned him off and bothered him that she didn't tell him ahead. Is he just a jerk or should I expect a similar reaction if I don't say something first?
    Help!?!?!?! lol

I kept doing them, but not with the primary goal of keeping on track.
My insurance required 6 consecutive months of PCP visits, and I was told they would be very strict about that - if I missed a month, even by just a few days, it would knock me back to the beginning and the six month count would start all over again.
I was paranoid that after all my paperwork was submitted, insurance would come back and say something was coded wrong for my month 2 visit (or some other nit-picky thing like that), and was afraid that if I stopped going every month I'd get knocked back for something dumb like that.
TL;DR: I kept going every month until I had the insurance approval in hand because I was paranoid.

You will get used to it. The first few days is the hardest. Just hang in there! I started Multivitamins right away..found that helped with the energy (I use the patches).

Today is day 1 of the pre-op liquid diet. I have had fears the past few weeks about my energy feeling very low. I have been drinking less and less caffeine and have successfully switched to Decaf coffee and tea and sugar free products. However, now that I am nearly through day 1 I am not feeling the best. I know this is common but is there anything anyone can suggest to do to get my mind off the hunger and the urge to stress/boredom eat? Does this get any easier?! Surgery date is 10/31.

So, I lost my job today. I'm already self pay, so insurance isn't the issue but the problem is that my surgery date isn't even set yet. I'm still waiting for the cardiologist to quit farting around (I mean approve the surgery).
How am I supposed to look for a job and have a major surgery looming ahead of me? I don't know what to do! I'm super morbidly obese. I'm sick half the time and I need the surgery, like yesterday! What am I supposed to tell my potential employers? "Yes! I am willing to work, but you'll have to excuse me from anywhere between 2-8 weeks to recover from MAJOR SURGERY!!!" Yeah, I can see that going over well.
I suffer from depression and social anxiety disorder, so it's near impossible to pull off the "I am confident and I have a great skill set" bs when I'm feeling the exact opposite. I'd rather crawl in a small, dark hole and stay there.

kathy Garibay reacted to butterfly23 in Triggers and how to cope with it
@@karine76 than you for posting as I can really relate. For me, not only is food bingeing no longer an option, but after losing 180 pounds I find I am more sensitive to triggers because I used weight as protection. In fact, I have been stalled and think this is part of it, I think I need more non-weight boundaries.
Some of my feelings (for me, shame, anger and fear - others I seem to handle fine) are so overwhelming, not too mention the hormone dump which is normal from burning fat. I have had to really work to build other ways of coping - but mostly, I have had to increase my capacity to sit with really intense feelings of shame and fear.
I still have much work to do and weight to lose, but mindfulness practice, self-compassion rituals and shame resilience work have been my path to dealing with triggers, and boy I seem to have more and more as the weight goes.
Great job posting and asking for what you need. Identifying that you were triggered is good work and the first step. Perhaps make a list of all of the things you can do to take care of yourself for moments like this - that has helped me. You got some great suggestions above.
Keep reaching out - your are doing great work for yourself!

my doc has me on full liquids first 3 weeks. I'm so sick of it too. I'm allowed yogurt and Soups etc. today was my first day back at work and I ordered a Soup from a local chinese restaurant (chicken and noodle soup) told them to hold the noodles, hold the chicken lol. just had the broth...it was heaven! so good. Mainly because it was different than what I've been eating at home (home made Soups i'm now sick of). i can't wait to have puree's and soft foods next week.

Hi there. I'm 10 days post op and I've just about had enough of liquid diet. I feel like I need some sort of food to just feel like I'm eating.
Could anyone tell me when they started eating things like mashed potatoes after their surgery please?

Nadia I'm 13 days post op. Mashed potatoes were added for me last week. Have you tried the sugar free popsicles? They help. I completely understand, I am so ready to chew something but we have to make sure that are stomachs can handle everything first.
