    Starting to worry

I had similar on my right. I brought it up at my 30 day post-op appt & he said that could be extra sore because they pull the excess stomach through. 2 weeks later it feels better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post-op Pain

I also was sleeved 12/29 and came home 12/30. Right as I was leaving the hospital I noticed the pain was getting more intense. I think I stirred it up by getting dressed and all that movement. I asked for another pain pill before leaving. At home I basically sat in the recliner. Thank god I have help because getting up & down hurt bad. Two others I know from our class had theirs a week before and said the pain lessens after day 5. My neck & back hurt (I'm told it's gas) along with my abdomen, majority of pain on the left side. I guess we just have to keep at this and it'll pass. Oh boy though does my stomach area hurt. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

If you are scared, maybe my story can help.

Today all of the tears & anxiety hit me, with 23 days until my surgery. It was like you wrote this for me. We share a similar background, I lost my husband 5+ years ago because of the anesthesia wake up after surgery. Yep, it's all starting to freak me out. I've only told 5 people. I don't want anyone's anxieties from losing him to freak out and try to talk me out of it, I need this. None of my family knows. I think it's better for myself & then this way, especially my mil. I keep taking deep breathes and concentrating on my goals. I have a wonderful & supportive BF who is my support. Thanks for sharing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Weed.

I'm still post-op and the dr. asked I used drugs, etc... MJ is legal here, I said yes occasionally for migraines and cramps. Nothing has ever been more effective for me. They asked how I used it and I said by vaporizer. They said just not smoke or use edibles until well after the surgery and healing. Smoking because of the healing, even stress staying away from second hand cigarette smoke or weed smoke. Any smoke, I think. The edibles because if they have ingredients that could give us problems with sugar, sugar alcohols, high fat, chocolate, etc... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I'm new, just getting started and taking the classes, pre-op stuff... If I had to read one post, this spoke to me! THANKS for sharing! Well done! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. They suggested at the meeting adopting a 1500-1800 calorie diet now & then to 1200-1500 into it more. Stopping caffeine over the next month or two, making sure your Protein is 80-120 g, drinking 64oz Water, not eating and drinking together, eating pea-sized bites, etc... Just wondering if anyone or even if it's advisable/makes a difference if you bit the bullet & start just eating 500 calories daily, that we'll end up only eating afterwards. You'd lose plenty of weight if you could handle it. My head is swimming with all these thoughts today. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I've fought to lose weight over and over, like all of us. I was very happy with my progress in the last year & then hurt my knee while exercising. I've since gained between 10-15 lbs and it's freaking me out. I asked about WLS and have always said I never would, it just became my obvious choice. I have lost a good amount on my own and do not want to stop. I feel like I lose so much and hit a road block. The doctors I've met with say it's amazing what I've accomplished and kept it off(100-120 lbs) I've never thought of it that way, I always think I have so far to go, why does it stop. My family gets happy I am losing but always says that I have a long way to go. So, seeing these doctors and having a psych evaluation has really opened my mind to a new way of thinking about this. It is damn hard to lose weight. I've done good and want to get under 200 lbs., I'm sitting at 350 today. My 1st meeting is this afternoon, there's 6 weeks worth. They said it's a 4-10 month process but it seems to be going faster and may be I can have surgery in January, depends on insurance and other factors. At this point, I don't know if I'll tell anyone beside my husband and 3 supportive friends. My family and their judgements give me too much anxiety. The physiologist said its no ones business and up to me. We'll see. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery or no surgery?

Right there with ya. I am taking the classes, etc... 1st yesterday. Learning as much as I can so I can mentally prepare such a drastic life change but I'm ready to take control & regain healthy lifestyle & all this extra baggage j carry. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. Thanks for all your priceless advice and experiences. I did do 8 months of Doctor/dietician supervised classes. The support really was great and I learned a ton about food, nutrition, myself and lost weight. Tonight's 1st class was pretty similar but surgery was the topic & changing your eating habits quite drastically. I'm good with what needs to be done but the getting used to "eating pea-sized bites of food" kinda alarmed me I guess mostly. Can anyone comment on that? Thanks!
