  1. Excellent explanation. Hopefully it will prevent some people from risking their lives/health and a great guideline for those who don't seem to understand the protocol. It is not worth the risk.

I just did my best, but didn't come close to meeting protein goals for a couple of weeks. You are healing. Get in as much fluid as you can and do your best. It will get easier.

    Lettuce , veggies raw

I did not have any problem. I love munching on some raw carrots.

    Kinda Freaking out...

A hernia could be fixed at the same time as your bariatric surgery.

    Time your eating

My plan states 20 minutes for a snack and 30 for a meal. I always use a scale.

Do I tell or say nothing.

I only told 3 friends and 2 family members. Only 1 of them knew before the surgery. Although I knew everyone would be supportive, I didn't want to be the centre of attention and discussion. I did tell everyone I was working on weight loss with a nutritionist and that I've changed the way eat to 3 small meals and 2 snacks each day.
  7. I started with regular coffee after 6 weeks. I have one or two a day with no problem.
  8. You may be having gas pain which is brutal. If that is what it is, try and walk every hour so it will pass. If you are worried, call the doctor.

I found this back bacon that gives 20 grams of protein for 5 thin slices. I have it will 1/2 an English muffin. I also sometimes have 1/2 an English muffin with peanut butter or melted cheese. I like eggs, but can't have them every day. Some days I have a Greek yogurt.
  10. You will get used to it. My nutritionist says I can drink up to 15 minutes before eating if it does not fill me up so I can't eat the meal. It is a habit and after a while it becomes second nature.
  11. I had my surgery 6 weeks ago. I was lucky because I had no pain or nausea. The first 2 weeks the gerd was excruciating. It was worse when I would try and drink water. It resolved after two weeks but then came constipation. It was brutal and painful and made me feel unwell. Both these things I had not experienced before. I now have figured how to deal with it successfully. The fluid stage went well but I hated the purée phase. I couldn't handle puréed meat. Meeting the protein and fluid goals are another challenge. I'm still working on it, but it is getting easier. For a few weeks, I really didn't want to eat. Things just didn't taste right. I now have found things that taste good and I enjoy. I'm full with just eating a little and Saturday satisfied. This is not easy. Everyone faces their own challenges. I did this to be healthier. For those of you struggling, remember, it will get better.
  12. I found meatballs in marinara sauce easy to get down and tasty. You can make up a few and heat a couple in the microwave. They have lots of protein.

My program states no soup once you are on solids. The nutritionist said it's because the liquid in soup does empty faster and it's hard to meet your protein goal. She said if you do have soup it should be thick full of protein and veggies, mor like a stew with a minimum of broth.

I've never experienced reflux before my surgery. Now I get it from even drinking water. I haven't yest started on purée foods. Is it likely to improve once I start eating food to absorb the acid?

    Slider Foods

Some people have mentioned slider foods. What are they and how do they work with the eating program?

    Eating Out

I haven't told many people about my surgery. I have told everyone I am on a very strict diet program. It is not a problem when I am at home. How do you handle eating with a group of people and you have such a small amount on your plate? Also, for those who had their surgery over a year ago, when eating in a restaurant would you likely eat half a portion? What about when someone has you to a dinner party?
