No. your body is adjusting to the surgery. You are lucky not to be constipated as I was.

I am questioning my lack of bowel movements. I am 4 days post op. I am on a clear liquid diet....water, Jello, broth. NO Protein. I have NOT had a bowel movement since surgery. Should I have? I am kind of worried about this. I started miralax this morning to see if I can help get things going.

I only had had BM's after they gave me milk of magnesia which was only because I couldn't pass gas. I don't wish that on anyone...it was ugly. I'm 4 days post op too. Oh and I'm drinking ensure so I'm sure that's playing a part too

Thank you for asking this question! I am 5 days post op and that was my question too! I haven't really had any gas and not even a hint of a bowel movement. Sounds like I need some MOM (milk of magnesia). I'm still bloated from surgery but honestly feel great and haven't had any issues.

5 Days post op, I made the bad decison to take Milk of magnesia, stool softnener, ambien and my pain med before I went to bed. I wok e p VERY surprised. Thank god my wife decided to sleep on the couch that night :-)
