Sooo Im at like 7 months right now... I'm at a weight that's very comfortable for me so if I can slow my weight loss to about 5 lbs a month I'd be satisfied!!! My goal was 140--- Now I feel like 160 might be it for me... I'm 167 currently. I'm not concerned about slow weight loss. SO... I keep my routine going. I don't count calories AT ALL!!!!!! I'm more focused on food groups. I still have something light for breakfast- a fruit and veggie smoothie, or a Protein shake, or fruit and yogurt or Breakfast meat but I eat something preferably something with Protein but sometimes I just want a smoothie.
Grazing is life!!!!!! I bring or purchase a grazebox at work so my Snacks are already ready to go. My grazebox usually contains 4 items it could be 8 cheese cubes, 10 cucumber slices , 15 grapes, and 1/4 cup of mixed nuts (cashews, almonds, pecans, peanuts) Its in a divided container so it fits perfectly. I have other combinations like cheese, apple slices, hummus and celery, or Nuts, pineapple, carrots and strawberries. Anyways I graze on this ALL DAY at work starting at about noon.
My lunch is usually 1 item. Today it was 4 lemon pepper wing dings, Tomorrow it might be a mini garden salad with grilled chicken. It might be a leftover baked porkchop or lobstertail from last nights dinner. By 3 oclock I'm back snacking on my grazebox and I usually still have food left over by the end of the day. I take it home and add it to my grazebox for the next day. Sometimes I can easily skip lunch because the grazebox keeps me satisfied. Its all about what you are grazing on.
I usually leave work about 430-5pm I have to pick kids up and stop by the store sometimes I snack on what remains of the grazebox or whatever was left from lunch but I don't typically eat after 6pm and I'm not hungry. Now 1-2 times per week I may eat out with the family, or join a friend for drinks but that is the only instance where I may really eat past 6 or 7pm. Sometimes I might just purchase food eat a few bites of salad and carryout the rest.

Find what works for you... I personally see nothing wrong with grazing. Just watch the carbs and make sure your activity levels are where they should be. You know what that is... what works for you may not work for me and vice versa. I was going to the gym 4-5 days a week but I wasn't pushing myself so I started taking kickboxing classes, boot camp and classes that would push me to my physical limits.

I'm down 40 pounds, and almost to my 1st goal. According to my BMI, I'm still considered overweight but if I don't lose another pound, I will be just as content. Had an awesome NSV last week. Was talking to a stranger outside and was shivering from the cold. I had never met this person before so they had no idea what I looked like pre-sleeve and he said "well of course your cold, you're too skinny not to be"! First time in my life I've ever been called skinny!!

Haha, that's awesome! I've lost 60 pounds in 4 months and I'm cold 80% of the time. I used to stay hot, so this is definitely something that will take time getting used to. It feels good to be called skinny!

I just read a thread over on the 'POST surgery' forum about POP. a newbie post related to drinking soda after surgery, a vet answered them and got herself torn sideways from the OP.
I feel bad because this person was QUITE obviously trying to only help, and give adequate information. For example, the OP carried on about their 'pouch' and stretching it.
The vet simply responded that a sleeve is not the same as a RNY pouch and that it really can't be stretched according to anatomical make up. Well, so much for trying to help! When I was a NOOB i was so happy to get good advice from the vets. in fact, that is how I learned the majority of the information that I needed pre-op. Obviously the other newbies couldn't give me advice based on experience, but the vets then were SO helpful (that includes many people on this forum).
So building off the other thread related to vets leaving, I look at this and totally understand why some vets have left....

I am four months out. Did a spin class in the morning, then homemade smoothie. For dinner had about 2-3 oz of turkey and two bites of mashed potatoes. Also had some red wine and bite of ice cream cake. Felt like I indulged but was not overly full.

I did well. I had my normal Breakfast, our dinner was around 3. Half a turkey slice, 2 bites of stuffing and green bean casserole, 2 creamed onions (these are bite size onions) and at the end 1 bite of sweet potato. No one noticed or cared except my sister in law who pressed my parents for info. My parents know, but she doesn't since she's a nosey judgemental little thing. I lost a pound since yesterday, so I think it went well!

Used 1/2 cup 2% shredded mozzarella and cooked it in a nonstick pan until it was bubbly and crisp. I let it cool off then dabbed with Mystic Maid grease blotter. Put a tablespoon of lowfat Dolmio bolognese sauce and lowfat pesto on it. Sliced it up and ate like a mini pizza. Was delicious, had Protein, no carbs and satisfied my pizza craving!

    FRESH FRUIT!!!
Put fresh fruit in with your Water and let it soak for a few minutes, then drink it.
I love to do oranges with blueberries, strawberries with lemon and cucumbers with a few mint leaves...
Also, if you have a fitbit or a alarm on your phone, set it for a certain time and KNOW you have to drink the Water then...
I have my fitbit go off every hour to remind me to drink a serving of water and by the end of the work day, I got all 8!
    Hope this helps.

At 15 months out I still eat Protein first followed by vegetables. I have one serving of fruit per day...no more. I eat zero rice, Pasta, or potato. The only bread I eat is the double Protein bread for Breakfast with Peanut Butter. The only Cereal I eat is Kashi with high protein.
I also crave salty snacks! Its better if I leave them totally along. My only exception is 100 calorie popcorn bags. The extra fiber seems to help me (yikes!). I do find that if I keep myself "full" on protein, the cravings for other foods aren't so bad. One more thing....I was told right after surgery that "hunger" is often thirst. When I feel like I want to eat something I will drink 8 ounces first and then wait 10 minutes. Often the desire to eat will go away.

    Hi All:
Thank's to whoever started this thread. I have found it very insightful. I had surgery in April 2011. In the first year I lost 107 pounds. I still need to lose about 25 more. In the last three months I have not lost a pound, and in fact have gained 5 pounds in the last month (vacation plus no exercise). I am shocked by both how fast the weight goes back on and how easy it has been for me to "eat around the sleeve."
In the past two weeks I have tried to get back on track. 10,000 steps per day, 1200 calories per day. I do have some emotional eating issues, particularly around "dessert" type foods after dinner (chocolate, ice cream, pop corn). I find myself just thinking about food all the time in the evening. I am trying to figure out how to handle those emotions without stuffing my mouth!
Overall, I am thrilled with the sleeve. The reality is sinking in however, that wanting to overeat will ALWAYS be an issue for me. However, two years ago I was over 265 pounds and had several co-morbidities. I am in a MUCH BETTER PLACE today and I am grateful.
I attend a support group weekly, sometimes two. I owe a lot of my "success" to those others who are fighting these issues with me.
    THANKS for listening!

Wait at least three weeks. I found applesauce was easy, but I couldn't handle refried Beans. I ended up mainly going back to Protein shakes just to be on the safe side. I also tried baby food and discovered I hate it!

I'm six weeks out and I'm mostly noticing it in my face. I never could stand to look at my body before surgery, so don't have any way to compare.
After about 2-3 weeks I noticed my feet don't hurt anymore when I walk. That is an AMAZING feeling!
Don't constantly look for changes or you'll drive yourself crazy. Just let it happen.
