Travelher got a reaction from laliza in October 2016 Bypass Buddies?
My surgery is October 4th. I've been on the liquids for a week and at the moment I am starving. My Nut told me it is ok to have low carb vegetables and bouillon so I made a pureed veggie Soup which I use in those moments when I need to eat or I'm going to loose it. It has helped me stay on plan...I'm dropping weight to so that is good. I couldn't take it if it was just the sweet shakes all day long. I may go out and try to find sugar free Popsicles just so I can have something to chew on.

Wow Jane1979 that is insane! People are crazy. Amazing how culturally there can be a lot of pressure to eat, but god forbid you look like you like to eat.

Travelher got a reaction from keyyzzVSG36 in Gastric bypass- Toronto Ontario - they wont do a sleeve?
Hi Stefanie, I'm in toronto too. I'm going to Montreal for a revision (self-pay). I looked into both. Like others have said. Bypass is the proven gold standard, so should not be something to be too concerned about. I'm the opposite of you. I've been told they may not be able to do a bypass because of scar tissue and my have to do a sleeve. I won't know until I have woken up which I got.

A couple of posters have mentioned these -- Total Lean from GNC. They are my favorite too, and I want to note that they also sell Total Lean Natural. They sell a third one that I believe is vegan. The packages are nearly identical, so look closely, but the difference is that the "natural" one is sweetened with stevia rather than sucralose. To some people, stevia tastes much better, and some people get headaches from sucralose or (especially) aspartame.
Long way of saying I'm another cheerleader for GNC Total Lean, natural edition (something tells me not much is natural about it...that's just what they call it), vanilla and chocolate. I keep a few packets on hand in case I have to mix one up during the day if I can't find appropriate food, but mostly I rely on big tubs of the powder that I keep at home.
I rely on GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. It's very Protein efficient (a tablespoon has 30 grams protein, just over half a gram of carbs, and 56 calories) I use it to make my own shakes adding various liquids and flavors - Water, ice, nonfat greek yogurt, sugar-free flavored syrups, stevia, whatever.
Another thing about the full liquids phases: you don't need to be on all shakes all the time. If you use GENEPRO -- or any unflavored powder you find you like, you can mix and hide it into foods in the pre and post op liquid stages and later post op food phases too. I like Protein Shakes, but at times, both pre and post op, I just wanted something savory, not sweet. When I was on liquids I was craving Soup, mixed in two teaspoons of the powder and boom, my Soup had 20g+ protein.
So when you're thinking about what to consume during the full liquid stages, don't forget that there are options other than sweet shakes. (You can also order savory protein Soups for the full liquid stages and skip the step of adding your own protein powder; I didn't do it so can't offer any advice!)

Today is exactly one month since I had WLS. I don't normally weigh in mid week (I weigh in and do my measurements on Monday mornings) but since it has been a month since my surgery I weighed myself.
I started my journey at my all time heaviest 280lbs. During the preop diet I lost 13lbs so on the morning of my surgery I was 267lbs.
Today I weighed in at 240.2lbs.
    I am down 40lbs!!!!!!
I'm finding my way through the new diet and feeling more confident by the day!

Hi Tammy and Shir, I'm scheduled for October 4 for mine. I'm 3 days in to the liquid diet and battling a cold. Really hoping and praying I get over this cold fast so it doesn't interfere with my surgery date!

I had my lapband removed and converted to gastric bypass on March 7 2016. Forever gone is the constant sliming, throwing up, and the worst reflux ever,( which included several bouts of aspiration pneumonia). This is the best I have felt in years. My HW 265. My initial visit weight-255. My current weight.......I'm in onederland!! 195. I need to lose 10 more before September 18...a cruise to Bermuda!! My goal is 155, although that dosent seem ever possible. I think I am definitely slower at this than most...but feel better than I have for years. Anyone else going this slow?? Maybe I've lost all I am going to?? Even if....it was worth it!!

Travelher reacted to Bufflehead in I need advice about my ex-girlfriend.
You can't solve her problems with respect to guilt, sexual issues with her fiance, etc. Your interaction with her doesn't sound like it is making you happy. If I were you, I would dial the contact way back. If she can't respect any boundaries you might implement (don't talk to me about your love life, don't text me sexy pictures, let's only chat once a week, whatever you choose) . . . honestly I would block her from your contacts list and go about trying to find a good woman who is not engaged to someone else and in turmoil about her romantic life. I promise you there are better, healthier relationships waiting out there for you.

@@Hiraeth I'm not sure that you are being "used" but it certainly doesn't seem like a good situation and I would not get back into a relationship with her. I would ask her to stop sending you suggestive texts or leading you on. If she can do that to the person she's engaged to be married to in less than 2 months - then she's not looking for a committed relationship and you shouldn't trust her (either should her fiance). She needs to get her shit together emotionally and decide what she wants to do with her life. You are young - find someone who knows what they want and is respectful and trustworthy! If you want to pursue something with her - just have your eyes wide open and realize that you may get hurt again. I encourage you to talk to someone about maybe broaching the subject of your sexuality with your Mom (if that's something you'd be safe doing). It can't be easy hiding who you really are. Good luck!

The good news is the dietician told me I can switch to the GNC shakes, which while not great are tolerable. She also told me I can supplement with vegetables or vegetable Soup. So I'm in a good place now, now I just have to work my way up to four shakes a day. Only did 3 yesterday, but I know I need to do 4 to hit my Protein goals. Yesterday was super hard because I had an ultrasound at 3 and was told I could eat nothing for 6 hours prior so had to cram my shakes in afterwards. Down 6lbs as of this morning.

I haven't tried ice. thanks. I've put a call into the dietician at my dr's office to see if I can substitute. I had band surgery in 2005 and I remember going on a liquid diet, but no shakes. I remember doing bouillon and sugar free Jello and stuff.
I've tried GNC golean shakes before. I don't like them but i can tolerate them so I'm hoping she'll be ok with that. on the bright side my teeth have never been cleaner now that i'm brushing them 5 times a day to get rid of the taste.
