Many people have been coddled all the way through life...a B- was fine, because the teacher just wasn't fair, neither is their boss. And you know, the police target red cars. This brings this conversation full circle (and I could kiss you for it!!)...taking responsibility for their actions is something many people have a terrible time doing. I see it here EVERY day, in posts about "I couldn't stop myself" and "I can't help it, I'm only human". Be accountable for your own actions, take ownership of your behavior...we're all better people when we do.

    Thanks for the shoutout, @LipstickLady.
I see the conversation you artfully re-created happening almost every day here.
I do wonder if it's a statement about our society in general that any and all criticism is construed as a knife-in-the-back, all out call to arms.
We all make mistakes, (diet related or otherwise) and we will surely continue to do so as long as we continue to breathe. It's a part of life, there's always something we could have done better. How did these kinds of people cope with getting a B- in school? A less than perfect review at their employment? A speeding or parking ticket?

There is a member who is continually calling people a b****. It's honestly not cool at all. I've gotten a lot of help from said "meanies" - personally, I appreciate their knowledge and willingness to share experiences. My opinion - if you don't like a thread or post, just move along.
So in conclusion - thank you to the "meanies" I've learned a lot from you.

Hey, I hear ya. Why do you think I quit before my surgery? But telling someone they aren't ready for the surgery because they didn't quit smoking is a false equivalency.
If you've never smoked, you don't realize how hard it actually is to quit. Just like with being obese, we KNOW it's not good for us, but we also have to be ready to do something about it.
I sometimes find it ironic that people who needed major surgery to control our eating to lose weight get so judgy about smokers.

FWIW, avocado was too rich for me early out. It's one of 2 things that have made me sick. I had avocado mashed with salt and lemon and it didn't go well.

You can always tell them how anxious you are and see if they'll give you a dose of xanax or valium. They usually do once your IV is in, but they may also call one in for you. Just make sure you don't drive.
And like stated above, you'll be out and the next thing you'll remember is being in your room.

rolosmom7 got a reaction from sweesee in How did WLS effect your marriage...
I've seen no ill effect on my marriage - but I think it's REALLY important to ensure you're on solid ground with the same expectations in advance.
I work with a therapist, and when needed I take my husband. He will eat whatever I cook, and won't bring garbage into the house. But we agreed on that well, well in advance.
It took 15 months from surgery consult to approval, a lot of that "extra" time was spent making sure I was in the game mentally. Your spouse, in my opinion, is a partner who should be in the game with you.

As the others have said, great job!! You should be proud of yourself. The only fast food I've done is Wendy's chili one time. I just remember the grease, and think God that probably would taste disgusting now! I used 2 do 2 double cheeseburgers plain. Can't imagine that now!

I wouldn't be concerned about getting down a large quantity of liquid (soup included). Once you start getting to chewable food in purees and forward you'll feel it!
