This isn't abnormal at all. Are you still taking pain medication? How much are you walking? It really helps! Also, Miralax works well to help her things going. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I went on amazon and bought a 12-pack of Isopure protein drinks. They don't taste too bad and they have 40g of Protein per bottle. Best of luck!

    Wound Care - Help Please!

They did scab over with some slight leakage but now one of the large incisions is about to lose it's scab and is leaking more. No pain or infection, but just a bit weepy. I just wish this would heal already; it's really depressing. Doctor keeps saying this is normal but it just doesn't seem so :\ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I'm 16 days out of surgery and my incisions continue to leak. I've been told to not cover them so they can air out & dry but it hasn't worked at all. I've bandaged them a couple of times when going out but when removing the dressings the wounds pull off my skin and look worse. I can't wear a black shirt every single day (any other color weeps through) so what can I do to cover each wound but still help it heal? How long does it take for the incisions to heal fully? Please help Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Scar treatment

I didn't get staples but glue instead. My incisions didn't start leaking after about 5 days or so. I'm 20 days out of surgery and my incisions still ooze a little and will for another few weeks. That's what my surgeon told me at least. They recommended just letting the wounds air out and clean & dry them twice a day. Bandage when necessary but change the dressing every 1-2 hours to avoid the scabs sticking to the dressing. Hope this helps and best of luck on your healthy journey!
  8. Stage 1 done. Bring on the soft & puréed foods

      PorkChopExpress

Nice! I was advanced from the two week post-op liquid diet to "mushy" which included ground meat consistency proteins. One of the recommendations was meatballs and the Trader Joe's turkey meatballs worked great. Tasted good and I could chew them to pureed consistency easily. Added a TBSP of mashed potato to that and it was so nice to have flavor and texture again after a month of liquid only.

    Drainage Issue :( Any Help?

@@gemigirl Unfortunately I can't use bandaids cuz they pull a lot of the wound off with it. Dr recommended wet gauze with dry on top of that but even that pulled the scab too. I'm 14 days out now and it still hasn't stopped but it definitely lessened. I'm really praying it stops soon Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I'm 13 days post op and still have drainage from an incision everyday. There's no infection, swelling, or pain so the surgeon says it's still normal at this stage and to keep airing it out. It seems to me that drainage from the incision should have stopped by now. Am I crazy? Is there a usual time when drainage stopped for any of you? Any & all input is appreciated Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Drainage Issue :( Any Help?

Yes, it's the incision from drainage. Still getting small amounts of pink and yellow Fluid weeping from the incision. I just want it to stop so I can wear something other than a black shirt. Can anyone tell me when their incisions finally stopped draining? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sorry tmi

Are you still taking pain medication? Those can prevent your regularity. If you are you should take Miralax to combat the effects of the pain meds. Also, walk walk walk walk. It helps with gas little by little and promotes better bowel movements. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Stitches and drain...Mexico

Pink or yellow Fluid is normal. It's the thick white, yellowish, or greenish fluid you have to watch out for Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    No bowel movement!

If you're still on pain medication it will counteract your ability to have a natural bowel movement. Miralax will help with balancing out the pain med problem Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Chicken Noodle Soup

Always best to use a food processor to make sure chucks are extremely minimal. Your pouch may still be swollen and any chunks may cause discomfort Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

2 days post op- pain and spasms?

Sounds like it could be gas pains. Try taking Gas-X strips to help relieve the pain. @@Bufflehead is right with cold liquids; room temp drinks are best. The first two days are tough, it gets easier Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  23. Hi! I'm just out of surgery (day 2) and home. Dealing with some discomfort as per usual (gas pains, soreness, body warmth but no temperature).
