Hi Crafty. My surgery is Jan. 10th. I have a little fear going on myself. I turned 60 in Nov, 2016. This is my birthday present to myself. My surgeon told me I wasn't a candidate for the sleeve due to having GERD. I was told it can make it worse not only by him but also the nurse working with me thru my insurance. Also, as stated above, the negative re-enforcement of the dumping syndrome with sweets. One other thing the bypass helps with controlling cravings due to the absence or lessened amount of grehlin with the rerouted intestine. So, the bypass is what I am having on Jan. 10, 2017.

I'm in the process of figuring out how much to eat so I don't lose any more....I would never think about eating chips or bread though.
It's not healthy to compare ourselves to anyone else... there's just too many variables

Just watch the person who you know. Their weight will return because "their sleeve didn't work". They are making crappy choices while you're doing it right and have learned how to eat. Congrats to you you and sucks to be them!

It's been a whole year since I took control of my life and had RNY gastric bypass. I've had ups and downs and physical delay after delay(chronic Lupus flares, swollen joints, torn rotator cuff, loss of ability to use my right arm, etc), but here we are! It's been one year and I don't regret it for one moment! I am not where I want to be YET, but I will get there. Here are my stats: hw:429lbs sw:386 cw:220lbs
