    SF ice cream?

For me personally, I have a hard time with sugar free foods because of the sugar alcohols. Everyone is different though. The key is moderation!

    Abbreviations

I had RNY gastric bypass 8/1/16. For the first 4-5 months, I had CONSTANT nausea and vomiting. I was on a lot of antiemetics but finally, about 5 months out, that passed. I now only get sick if I eat/drink too quickly or too much

    March 2017, RNY'ers

Don't let yourself get discouraged! 30 pounds is a big chunk of weight loss. Just remember - slow and steady wins the race. Log everything you put in your mouth (my fitness pal is great) and get in plenty of exercise.

    Daily Vomiting

I had RNY gastric bypass 8/1/16. For the first 4-5 months, I was nauseas literally 24/7, and I could tolerate very LITTLE - mostly liquids / pureeds ... but VERY LITTLE. I vomited daily, and just felt miserable overall. I also had some bowel issues. They checked - no ulcers/strictures, did have to go get IV fluids a few times because I was just so nauseas / vomiting I couldn't keep them down. BUT ... as I kept hearing from my surgery time "Give it time, it will pass" (something I HATED hearing!!!!!!!), it DID finally pass. It took a long time and it was a rough road, definitely NOT easy, but it did pass. Now, I only get that feeling if I eat/drink too quickly or the wrong thing. Talk to your surgery team ... they should be able to help you. And good luck to you. I know how miserable that is to live with.
  6. Hi Sean, Try not to beat yourself up too much. I'm also about 8.5 mos out from RNY gastric bypass - surgery 8/1/16. In the first 5-6 months, I lost 93 pounds but since then, I've gained a little, lost a little, but my total loss number hasn't budged. I know that personally, the second I let some of my "trigger" foods back into my diet, even in total moderation, that was not my smartest move. While my pouch may be able to tolerate those trigger foods, they are definitely foods that I cannot tolerate and should not consume!!!! Your stomach does stretch a bit and the amount of food you can consume in one sitting does gradually increase, per my nutritionist. I do find that at times, I seem to be able to eat certain things with ease - too much ease, but then other things, I do remember that my stomach is too small to tolerate large amounts. Talk to your nutritionist - mine is great and really helps me put things in perspective. Perhaps yours has some tips for you / more encouragement. Good luck.
  7. I've had a few of these NSVs ... 1-I can cross my legs again, like a lady - not like all awkward and uncomfortable!! 2-I fit so much more comfortably at the movies and with the armrests down ... there's actually room in the seat now. 3-I fit in the stadium seats - and not just barely, but comfortably! 4-My next NSV to find out this week .... how I fit in the airplane seats ... I'll report back after my upcoming trip.
  8. Thanks for the great info!

    Protein Sample Menu

Blending with ice definitely helps me as well. I seem to be able to get ice cold things in easier than anything else. I am 14 weeks out (tomorrow) and have been having a REALLY difficult time eating actual food. I've had a lot of nausea, vomiting, major constipation (sorry, TMI I know). I've been on ALL kinds of medicine for all of those symptoms....the 24/7 nausea has finally started to pass, now it is only occasional, which is so much better. BUT, I really need to start eating actual food. Any ideas?? Meat does not seem to work for me - I was never a huge fan pre-surgery, but since surgery, meat just does not agree with my new pouch. Eggs seem to be too difficult as well. I need some high protein, low carb, low fat, low sugar ideas.
  10. I do drink the ready made Premier Protein drinks in vanilla and chocolate. I find the chocolate to be less sweet, which sometimes is exactly what I want. But I have also recently discovered Click protein powder and Fit protein powder ... they have them in vanilla latte flavor....so YUM. I mix them with my Premier protein drink for added protein in the AM. Plus, it gives me my "coffee" fix. Sometimes, I skip the Premier protein and just add water. You should try it - they have different flavors too. I buy mine online at www.netrition.com - so far, that site seems to have the best prices and biggest selection of bariatric approved products. Good luck!!
  11. I buy a lot of my protein products on www.netrition.com - good website/lots of bariatric friendly items, best prices I've found so far. Good luck!
  12. I completely agree with you on this! I too remember being warned about these types of items in my pre-surgery nutrition class. They told us to limit protein bars and any "trigger" items. I have tried the Quest protein chips and bars, but for me, I have to just NOT keep them in my house....they are trigger items for me. SO much better to just NOT have them around!

I really like Fage Total 0% greek yogurt - plain. I'll mix it with onion dip mix or ranch dip mix to make a veggie dip and eat with some cherry tomatoes and cucumbers ... tried carrots but my pouch isn't quite ready for those yet. I can also make it "sweeter" rather than savory and mix it with one of my sugar free Torani syrups and just eat it. Sometimes I will mix some oatmeal into it. 1c gives you 23g of protein! I can't eat 1c at a time, but i can eat it throughout the day to get the full cup. It's been hard for me to really EAT much. I have been relying pretty heavily on my Premier protein vanilla ready made shakes. I mix those with coffee flavored protein powder - I've tried Fit, Click and Chike. I like both the Fit and Click brands best. I use the vanilla latte flavor in both brands. I mix that in with the vanilla shake, my benefiber and my miralax and drink for breakfast - it actually takes me all morning at work to drink it, but it gives me like 50g of protein. Sometimes, I add a little salt just to take away the "Sweet" flavor...just depends on my mood. Egg whites, if you can tolerate eggs, are also good protein. Non-fat re fried beans are good protein. I eat those mixed with some reduced fat shredded cheese - good protein. I find that i need to add in some of the organic chicken stalk to them though - to make them a little easier to get down. One thing I was doing for awhile was taking reduced fat cheese slices, cutting into four little pieces, place on a baking tray and bake for like 5 minutes to make cheese crackers. So good, but do that sparingly!! Lots of fat if you eat too much. Check out the world according to eggface website - she has SO many great recipes, ideas, etc. I lived on her site for the first 6 weeks after my RNY surgery. She's on pinterest too. Good luck!!

    Drinking sodas

It's not a good idea!!!!!! Just a bad habit you don't want to get back into. Plus, it just makes you feel miserable - or at least the sip I tried did. Ick!! -Kelly
