Early on after the surgery the only thing I could say that it did was that it got me higher quicker. But now that I'm well over a year post surgery and my body has completely healed from the surgery I would say that my tolerance for it is back to where it was pre-surgery. I've recently dabbed into the CBD/THC in foods and oils and found those to be somewhat as affective as smoking it. But the high or buzz takes longer to get to the bloodstream than smoking it does. But boy oh boy when it does finally break down and hit the bloodstream, yeah talk about an intense high.

Have you tried the high CBD meds? I find they help so much more than typical strains. Another option (whixh is my preference) is to take one paet high thc meds, and add it to 2 parts high cbd. Its more expensive than typical strains (street or club) but works better for pain in my opinion.

If you don't have the munchies it shouldn't be an issue. That's the main thing to watch out for post-op. I've smoked several times since surgery and it doesn't affect me any differently than it did pre-op.

You are incredibly inspiring, but in addition to your transformative weight loss.....you are a very gifted writer. You need to write, Abby!!!
Tomorrow is my RNY and I will think of you and your success as I drive to the hospital in the morning.
Thank you for all you do here.

I live in Tucson, it's the fact that everyone I know works and can't be there for me as there is no set day or time I will be discharged. If I can't get 64 ounces of Water down the first day I have to stay and extra day. I live o. A miniscule income and can't afford Uber or a cab. I have to give my ins co 48 hours ahead of a request for a free cab. So im in a catch 22 situation. I'll stop taking the pain meds the first day so that my system is clean and I can drive by the second day. Or ask the hospital if they have a free ride home system.

I stayed two nights -- standard for my surgeon -- but if I could have gone home same day I would have. I barely got any sleep what with all the people hassling me for blood samples and checking my incisions and making sure my compression booties were on, the cold hospital, unfamiliar bed, noisy surroundings . . . if I could have gone home and crawled into my own bed I would have been delighted to do it.

My date is Dec 14th, which is the exact date I wanted, I even have photographic proof of my handsome doctor
I am a teacher. That gives 19 days off of work. I have to miss the last three days before Winter Break, which is fine by me.
He did say that I could go home that day, like outpatient. Which seems REALLY weird. I will think about that some more. I would prefer my bed, but I worry about going home after something so major. We. Will. See.
Now to find out the final total I owe (I have to pay $5k Out of Pocket PLUS my deductible) and other stuff. Sucks Big Time. Months ago I asked my Dad for a loan and now it is time to put up. He wanted me to try to diet and exercise, tried to make it conditional..which is his FAVORITE thing to do. I of course did little of that.. I am certain that I am pretty much paying for the whole thing myself..but that is okay, as long as I do no not wake up dead!
The countdown begins and yes I am now very nervous!

@@rolosmom7 I had a shake before leaving home but we found ourselves in an emergency situation and I couldn't leave where I was and the only thing available to eat that wasn't bad was a salad only alternative would've been to not have anything but Water from 10a - roughly 9p I was only suppose to be gone from home an hour. I'm a chronic Migraine sufferer so that would've made things worse. Things happen! Thanks everyone

    Hi all,
This is my first post. I have been browsing this forum for a while, and I am being sleeved on 5th November. I live in Essex. I was feeling overly positive about the sleeve until yesterday when I think the reality kicked in and I began to worry about the surgery itself (what if something happens on the day and it doesn't go ahead, what if something goes wrong with the anaesthetic etc), how I will feel afterwards, how I'm going to do this long term and so on.
I have decided only to let my immediate family and my manager know as I worry about the response from my friends, this might change in the future but for now I feel I just want to try and do this without any potential negative reactions.
At the moment I am pretty ready and have already got in the Vitamins and supplements I'll need, about 2 or 3 months worth. I have what I need for the surgery.
I don't know anyone else locally getting the surgery but hoping to find someone who I might be able to chat with!
I've been watching youtube videos almost non stop finding out other people's experiences, mainly for tips and for ideas for how to make sure this is a permanent "head" change. I am glad this is a non reversible operation and I feel ready for this to be a huge shift in how I live my life
Good luck to you all either pre or post surgery xx

You have to think about what is more important, foods you love or getting healthy. And then you have to put foods you love away for a while. Once you get to your goal, then you can make some decisions about what you can bring back and at what frequency. But no one said this journey was easy. Trust me, there is a lot of sacrifice that has to be made, but as the weight comes off, it is worth it. No pizza, fast food, beer, or chicken wing is more desirable to me than the 124 pounds I have lost since March 21!
    Good luck!!

exactly what KristenLe said! but if it makes you feel better - in the first two weeks I lost...NOTHING not even a tenth of a pound. Now at 4.5months out, I'm down 70lbs. So everyone loses differently but if you follow your plan, you will lose.

@@megnun21 I'll be 2 weeks out tomorrow. I'm not even bothering tracking weight loss at this point - we had a lot of swelling and Water retention from the IVs and weight can fluctuate up and down drastically during this time. Concentrate on getting plenty of fluids (at least 64 ozs) and meeting your Protein goals. Don't restrict foods - eat as your plan suggests! There's no way to compare your progress with anyone else. We all lose at different rates - and have different amounts to lose. Just keep doing what you're supposed to be doing - the weight will come off. It's not a race.

I am hoping to have my sleeve surgery in December. I have to give my self shots for 30 days pre op. I have a blood clotting disorder and I don't have a choice. After the 30 days I will go back to my oral blood thinner Xarelto.

They do, yeah, but most Protein Shakes I've tried have the same chalkiness to some degree. I tend to really dig the PP shakes, though. chocolate is my go-to, but the banana? Maaaaaaaaaan... the banana is the bomb. If you can track those down, snag 'em. I've heard good things about the Caramel, too.

I've only seen 4 pack at Walmart for like $7 chocolate..vanilla and Carmel. Also if I like iced coffee u can mix a Decaf instant coffee pack with the vanilla for a nice treat..drink a lil out first for a stronger flavor

Having surgery is never pleasant, and regret is VERY normal early out when we are feeling like crap for several weeks after. Just realize this is just TEMPORARY. Each day, each week that goes by and things normalize for you and you see yourself losing weight this will all be a distant memory.
    Keep saying this to yourself:
    This too shall pass.
