Sacramento73 reacted to RussT in 5 months post op - 131 pounds gone
    I'm 5 months post-op and I'm down 131 pounds. Starting at 470 and now 339.
For those who are on the fence about getting the surgery, or have just gotten it and are hoping it works for them, let me tell you, if you follow your doctor's advice, it will work.
I hardly get hungry anymore and when I do and eat, I get full almost instantly. As soon as I do feel satisfied, I feel that I can't eat another bite, which is something I never experienced before having this surgery. In the past, even if I was full, I could keep eating and stuff myself. I know now, that if I did that I'd get nauseous so I STOP when my body tells me to. I have very few cravings too. This surgery has been a miracle to me. Weight loss isn't as fast as it was in the first month or so, but I do tend to lose around 3-4 pounds a week and I'll gladly take that. At this rate I'll be in the high 200s by Summer and to see my weight start with the number 2 will be amazing.

Fellow sleevers unite! I remember you all, surfing through these forums for hours worried about my surgery but excited for the potential health and physical change. Now I'm on the other side almost 5 months out and want to share my story with those that are waiting in anticipation or a few days out wondering whats next. I was sleeved on 09/29/2017. At my surgery I weight 363 and my weight when I started the liquid diet was 380.4. I think I ended up topping out somewhere around 387 in the days or weeks before the liquid diet. As of this morning I weight 273.8. So roughly 107 lbs in 5 months. I'll take it! Size wise I am currently a 38 waist, and XXL top. I was a 46/48 waist and 4XL a few short months ago. My overall goal is 225 (I'm 6'2). Here is my lame attempt at a Letterman style top ten list but backwards. Time flies, enjoy the ride, and the compliments

Losing weight is cool. Growing saggy man skin tits not.
Pretty Pimpin’ by Kurt Vile is on my sleeve journey mix tape.
Its great being able to sit in a chair and not worry about breaking it.
I used to love Soup. That was before eating it everyday for 4 weeks.
Only fat people wear fitbits. I wore mine, and it was stupid. I've never seen any active person actually wearing one. I probably exercise more without it.
You can weigh yourself everyday. I did, its OK. First thing in the morning, post dump, post shower. I’m suprised I haven’t gone through a costco size pack of AA batteries.
Levi’s that aren’t loose or baggy fit = AWESOME!
I am no longer that fattest person everywhere I go, There are a crapload fatter than me.....I know as I just got back from Disney.
Sex gets better with every 20 lbs.
    Holy shit, I’m not sweating!

I am so pleased to say that Jan 5 marked my one month surgiversary and I am down 24 lbs from my surgery day weight of 219 lbs ( currently 195 lbs). But the real kicker is my starting weight pre op was 242 lbs so total lost is 47 lbs , yessss. Also, my birthday was Jan 5 as well and I am a beautiful 39 years young may I add. So excited and looking forward to more success in near future. My goal is 150 lbs. motivation is on point to reach it.

My visit to the scale this morning revealed that I am at 50lbs down since I started this journey in April of this year. 31lbs lost since liquid pre-op and 20lbs since surgery on 10/26/2016. This feels so major to me that I just had to share it!

It has been almost 10 months since I had the sleeved and I am down 171 pounds 14 sizes down and total body loss 127 inches. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it and follow the program. The sleeve is not going to do all of the work for you but if you work for it you can achieve your desired results. Wish I would have done this 10 years ago.

Im so happy that I was able to get off my insulin! I still have like 25 lbs to go but I am not rushing! When you get closer to your goal, it is slower to lose it! To all of you, you are awesome and continue being beautiful inside and out!

My mom sent me these two pictures today--one she took at the hospital the morning of surgery, and one she took today to send to my aunt (who has also lost a great deal of weight). I can't believe how big of a difference it is at 3.5 months out! When I look in the mirror I feel like I look exactly the same as I did so it's nice to have progress pictures like this. I wish I had pictures like this of my highest weight lol.

Also wearing an outfit of jeans and a sweatshirt I bought in 2013 that never actually fit haha. Still a bit poochy in these jeans but they slipped on no problem

Okay guys, this is getting awesome. At my highest weight I wore a size 6x t-shirt. I love funny T-shirts and every year when my family and I go to Maine I stock up on funny t-shirts at the little stores in town. This year in August I saw a couple shirts I loved but they didn't come in my size. I decided to get them anyway thinking that I'll be losing weight and maybe I'll fit in them eventually.
Since I've been trying to do things I previously couldn't I decided to try one on just to see how close I was.
It fit. I mean a bit snug, but it could maybe be passable. I won't wear it out yet until it fits looser but before I would have never been able to get it over my head let alone be able to have it on and sit down without it rolling up
The size? 2x!! I wore a 6x and now I almost fit in a 2x!! I did cry this time guys and it felt really good
    Highest weight 10/30/2015: 540
    Surgery weight 5/27/16: 480
    Current weight: 352
Also, I'm sooo close to losing 200 pounds in a little over a year!!!

I had the good luck to have Dr Machado in Sacramento at Mercy San Juan. The greatest experience I could have had considering the procedure. She is just great, the best in the area as I am told by all the nurses I encountered. Use her if you can!

Sacramento73 reacted to Dub in What's your experience been with alcohol after surgery?
    I waited about three months.
Gained the approval from my surgeon.
I've still not had beer....and will continue not having beer. Carbonation isn't something I like...don't want the burps....and the calories from beer are not friendly to my weight loss efforts at this time.
Quality vodka or tequila mixed with very low calorie mixer or fresh squeezed lime juice and such are what I drink when I want an adult drank.
I'll equate the impact as being on par with how it was pre-op....just slightly stronger than before. I attribute this to drinking on an empty stomach....and whatever differences the smaller stomach contribute.
I can still drink at a good clip....just not so fast or much.
I'd certainly recommend you test drive that first drink in the comfort and safety of your own home before doing it in public. Know what you're getting yourself into beforehand.

Sacramento73 got a reaction from char3672 in What were your worst symptoms post-op?
I had my surgery Monday 10/17. They ended up also doing a hiatel hernia repair at the same time. The worst symptom was probably the pain in left shoulder and neck which they say is very common but their pain meds in hospital took care of it. Gas Pains started later that night but again were manageable and walking helps so much. I was home 24 hours later and honestly I feel pretty good. I too read all the horror stories as I prepared for this surgery. I had also had never had general anesthesia and was terrified I would;t even wake up from the surgery. Then I had nervousness about blood clots - you name it I was stressing about it. The surgery was a breeze. The pain was manageable - it is now 36 hours post op and am not even needing to take the pain meds they sent me home with. Still have some trapped gas but the more I move the better it gets. I still feel bloated and a bit sore but honestly I also feel great - energized and ready to start this new life Best of luck to you. Try not to stress too much about the what ifs

I too, had a fairly large hiatal hernia. My doc found it during surgery and did the repair. I noticed a vague tightness just below my sternum. No pain really. Was up walking 6 hours post op. Only took two pain pills post op. I was lucky not to have much gas pain.
