ONEderland!
I am sorry to hear. However, I don't feel that way at all. I may have had a rough recovery and suffered a few complications, but at this point, I feel this is the best decision I've ever made. My willpower to diet pre surgery was shot. I never would have lost the weight if not for surgery and I would have continued to gain and gain and fall deeper into depression. My family is very superficial and focus on size and looks and you are judged if you don't "meet the criteria" I was embarrassed to even attend family functions. I haven't seen much of my family in years. So, I am gaining my confidence back and the depression and self loathing is fixing itself. It was all weight related which caused me to eat more and more crappy. So for me, this was life saving. Literally Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

ONEderland!
It took me longer than I thought but I couldn't be more excited!! 2 months and 3 weeks post op and I've hit the ONEderland! Yayayayayya! Sorry just felt the need to shout it from the roof top. I've met many mini goals in the past couple months but this was my first large goal. Actually 3 large goals in one day! 50lbs down, 50 to go. I'm halfway to my ultimate goal and first time below 200 for about 5 years Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Doed it really hurt?
They cut a portion of your body out and to get to it they cut through multiple layers of skin, fat and muscle. OF COURSE IT HURTS! lol. Be vocal about your pain and they will address it with pain meds during your hospital stay. I went home the day after and took my pain meds the next 3 days. I was very surprised at how fast the pain was going away as opposed to my surgeries in the past. I was up and moving with minimal pain. So does it hurt? Sure. Is it worth every bit of it? ABSOLUTELY! I'll tell you what doesn't hurt anymore, my back and knees when I walk or shop or do anything with my kids. I'm only 50 lbs down and 2 months 3 weeks post op but I am feeling more confident, more active, energetic and more healthy. It is worth every bit of it. Do your research on the surgery and make your decision but Don't let the pain part be your deciding factor because the reward is so much greater than the price. Good luck P.s. I'm a wuss when it comes to pain. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Approval and Vacation
I would try for 2 weeks after vacation ends if I were you. That you you can relax and enjoy. Not have to worry about liquid diet while on vacation and be tempted to cheat on it. The temptation is bad enough at home. Let alone on vacation. Have fun and congrats on approval!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Drinking with a straw
I drink decaf iced tea and if I stopped using a straw, my teeth would be discolored in no time. It doesn't bother me at all. I've used one since day 50 post op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

3 Weeks Post Op - Are chips and Guacamole allowed?
cheese CHIPS!! Best.invention.ever! My NUT gave me a recipe book made by other post sleevers. Spray a cookie sheet and bake small piles of shredded cheese until crispy. They are good plain, with salsa, with meat, with guacamole, with whatever you want on them. Love me some cheese chips. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Post op hair loss
I am 2.5 months post op. hair loss started last week. I'm convinced I am going bald lol. My doc assured me that my hair is long and thick and I will be fine. But in the past week I have noticed a large change. Use to wrap my ponytail holder twice around and now can wrap it 3 times. All within a week. I am sure hoping it slows down or stops VERY soon. I had a rough start nutritionally since I could not hold anything down for 2 weeks. I think not getting my Vitamins and Protein may have amplified the hair loss. What are the weird and new foods you like post op?
Nothing. I don't like anything anymore! It's crazy. It helps because I don't overeat. The only food I enjoy post op is a taco salad. I've tried so many things. Even my favorite things pre surgery, taste gross to me now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

When did you start drinking alcohol postop?
I tried to have a glass of wine the other night. Took a few sips and felt buzzed. Poured it out. Will be waiting a while before that happens again. I love love love wine and pre op would drink a bottle or two a week. But I'm fine waiting. I do not like being drunk Ps.....I'm 2.5 months out Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Just did some real disrespectful stuff!
Don't delete the site. There is so much helpful info and so many helpful and kind people on here. Don't be afraid to post exactly what you want also! You will find after being on here for a while that it's the same handful of people that are always rude and have sarcastic, childish and unsupportive responses non stop. It shouldn't be like that but it is. Be the adult and look past them or if it's really bothersome to you, block them. I stopped reading responses from said handful of people. I scan right over them. They mean nothing to me. I don't know them and they don't know me. With that said, Grilled cheese may not have been the best choice but come on, you ate it, nobody else. Not sure why it effects them so much. Congrats on your weight-loss and glad your mistake taught you a lesson. We have all learned things the hard way. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I have not been taking measurements, however, my clothing fits the same so I assume I'm not losing inches either. Idk Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I wonder what the cause is??? Ok I need reassurance. Very frustrated. Long stall
Ok embrace the stall, done It. Been reassuring myself daily for the last, ohhhhh I dunno, 3 weeks? I went on a work trip the 25-28 of last month and gained 2 lbs. I don't know how, I ate right and didn't drink with even though everyone else did. But the worst part is that I haven't lost a single pound since!!! I am only 2.5 months post op! This should be my honeymoon period right? Someone tell me their story or similar experience. I need to hear some good news so I can have some reassurance that I'm not stuck at this weight forever. I know it's ridiculous to think that like but I'm sure everyone has had their discouraging and depressed days throughout this journey and just needed a little reassurance. P.s when I left for my trip I was 3 lbs from ONEderland. So I fully expected to be under 200 when I came home. I about cried when my scale said 205. I DID cry this morning when my scale, once again said 205. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Getting nervous and have a few questions...
I did 14 day pre op diet. Don't cheat, they will know you did and a responsible surgeon will cancel your surgery. It's for your safety. Stay in the hospital as long as they will let you. Recovery is a b@tch. But soooo worth it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Cousin has Medicaid and was approved immediately
Yep. And to the OP: I'm on government assistance and I had to wait six months and complete a long list of things before I could be approved. Congratulations to your cousin on making what is sure to be a positive step in her life! How wonderful! You should see if she'd like to join BariatricPal and maybe the two of you could support each other in your journeys? How Do You Get Protein In?
I have to say, I was a GENEPRO skeptic but I've only been using this for 2 months because I cannot tolerate others. Had blood work today and Protein level is perfect. So, I shall continue Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Disgusted/grossed out by meat
I have zero desire to eat meat. Veggies and salad are all I want. I told my NUT and doctor about this today and they said it is a very normal occurrence. I try to incorporate meat into salads. Taco salad with ground and seasoned turkey has been my go to. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Cousin has Medicaid and was approved immediately
Excuse me.....I'm not harping on anyone. I was simply stating that the approval system is a bit twisted. I am completely happy that my cousin is getting the surgery as she needs it for her health. You want to be negative or *ship* anyone who decides to post negativity then hop off my post. I made a statement about MY insurance. Did I say Medicaid recipients shouldn't get the surgery? No. take a step back. Thanks Furthermore, if you are one of those Medicaid recipients then I apologize if I offended you. I'm the last to judge. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Cousin has Medicaid and was approved immediately
My cousin is on government assistance. She has Medicaid and it took her 2 months from her first visit to surgery date! This frustrated me because I battled my insurance company for a damn year! Insurance that I pay $200 a month for and have paid them for 10 years and rarely used! I am all about everyone being allowed to get healthy but why is it so hard for us to get approved and others get it, no questions asked, FOR FREE? Sorry, just venting. I've had my surgery and all is well. But I will not soon forget all of the ups and downs of going through my insurance. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
