I also use the Aria scale by Fitbit. I love it! Plus, you can link it to your MyFitnessPal account and as you lose weight document with a selfie!!!

I was trying to describe what having the sleeve is like, when it comes to eating to my mom. She is curious as to what its like, eating choices, etc.
I thought the best way to describe it to someone who hasn't experienced it is like this:
Say you are headed off on a month long voyage. You only have a small backpack, no suitcases. What would you pack? You'd pack the smallest, most efficient items you could that would be the most helpful along your journey. You would naturally skip the extra stuff that your large suitcases would have allowed. Your choices as to what you pack into you little backpack would be based on usefulness.
This is what my sleeve feels like. When I am choosing food, I'm leaving behind the filler. Just no room in my little backpack.

I am a Fitbit freak, owning a charge hr, charge hr 2, surge, one, blaze, and the aria scale. My personal favorite is the charge hr 2. It has breathing exercises and tells you how to improve your cardio. I love that I can link it to my fitness pal and have my food intake be automatically logged into my Fitbit app and my weight back to the my fitness pal app. I do challenges regularly with my friends. Love it!

I use my fitness pal. And it it worth the extra money to pay for premium membership (I figure I am saving all that extra money on groceries anyway!). You can track all your macros, exercise, Water intake, and integrate it with your Fitbit. I can even take a picture whenever I weigh myself and compare as I lose weight. You can add ingredients to homemade recipes you like and get the nutrient breakdown per serving. MyFitnessPal is the way to go!

I’m tired of living in limbo. “When I lose weight I will do this or that or the other.” All the things I want to do have been on hold for 24 years.
I don’t want my fears about my health to decide my future.
I sold my kayak because I couldn't get in it without falling over, not to mention I couldn't even fit in it.
    I want a new kayak.
I’m so tired of being the only one who is hot and sweaty when everyone else is chilly.
I’m tired of my pants falling down because they are not around my waist but up under my belly.
I’m tired of not being able to wipe my butt without getting a cramp in my side from trying to reach it.
I’m tired of my big blouses slipping off the hanger.
I want to fit in my bathtub and be totally covered in Water.
I’m tired of wanting to take a bath but then worrying that I will hurt myself trying to lift myself out.
I want to be hugged tighter. No one can get their arms around me at this point.
When I eat, I want to be able to be close enough to the table to lean over and not drop food on my boobs.
I want to be able to get a smaller suitcase so I can carry it on instead of hauling that much too heavy suitcase to ticketing, paying $25 to check it, and then waiting forever for it to come out on the luggage carousel.
If someone parks too close to me, I want to be able to open my door and squeeze into the front seat anyway.
I am tired of being overlooked at work. (I think I’ve been overlooked for a promotion.)
Did I say I want to be hugged tighter?

Baby steps, sweetie, baby steps. You're right- it didn't happen overnight, so making changes won't either.
Don't beat yourself up- just make little promises to yourself now, and keep them.
"Today, I'm going to go for a walk"
"Today, I'm going to toss away that hamburger bun and just eat the insides"
"Today, I'm going to not have ..."
Making a promise to yourself and keeping it is HARD!! You'll possibly beat yourself up for breaking it, but you'll also let yourself off the hook easier than, say, if you promised to help a friend in need and blew them off. THEY would be less forgiving.
You've already decided to take a huge step in having the surgery. There will be learning curves, difficult choices, as well as easy ones!! That is what this time is for- preparing yourself.
So, learn to be good to YOU- a step at a time, and you will get there.
Here's a thought: buy a stack of post-it notes. Each morning, write out your "promise" or goal for the day, and stick it on the inside flap of your purse. Every time you go in there, you'll see it and be reminded of what you want to do.
Good Luck- and don't take people's comments that are "negative" too hard. I think, often times, they forget what it is like to be at the precipice of something this monumental- and that they, too, were in some version of your shoes once.
