I turn 41 today. But I can say that I weigh less today than I have weighed on any birthday since my 33rd. That's something to celebrate!!

What doctor (or qualified medical professional) makes his or her patient believe that he or she is going to have dramatic weight loss right off the bat and lose all his or her weight in a matter of weeks? I sware, there is a poster that is shocked that he or she hasn't lost 30 pounds the first month almost every day. It makes me wonder what some of these pre-op conversations are like, or if people just hear what they want to hear...

This is highly typical of some surgeons. They tell you one-size-fits all weight loss and then let their patients twist when they don't experience that. To top that off, you have the ones that sell their own vitamins. "What you didn't lose 50 pounds in two weeks? That's not right, here buy some of my specially formulated garbage and it will help".

My weight loss has now eclipsed my current weight. I have lost 199 pounds and weigh 198 pounds. One more pound until I have lost an even 200 pounds, and only 18 pounds until goal!
-
I made and tried the Ricotta Bake for the first time this evening. It was good and all, but I can only have about 31 grams of it to make it match one of my regular "meals." For that, I can have 2 oz of meat, a string cheese, or almost 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. To each his/her own, but it's not worth it to me. I'll be marking that one off of the list.

To get the calories/carbs/protein (in this case, it's more about the calories) to fall in line with my 8 daily eating periods, the serving size is 31 grams, which is TINY. Where I am right now, it is not worth it to me because I can have things with about the same calories that are more satisfying and have more protein. ShelterDog64 made a good point. It probably would have been better for me a few weeks ago, but I missed my window, and where I am now, I'll just pass on it. I can see why people like it, though...

We are back from a week in London and Paris. I am now engaged to my long-time partner, which is super exciting. And, to boot, I lost 4 pounds on the trip, even though I had more wine than I probably should have had. (Nothing food off plan though!) This journey is so intriguing!

Today is one month post-op for me. I lost 21 pounds this month, and 120 pounds total. I still have 2 more weeks of medical leave to concentrate on this full-time. Onward!
-
I am now just obese with no adjectives. Just 37 pounds to go until I am no longer obese. 139 pounds lost as of today -- 40 since surgery on September 28!
-
Today marks six months post-op for me. I have lost 85% of my excess body weight. What a journey!!
-
After 21 total days of liquids, I was given permission to move onto well-cooked green beans, string cheese, and cottage cheese 4 days early. Looking forward to seeing how this goes!

Yum, one serving = 2 green beans. As to cottage, I've been eating a little each day the past few weeks because my calcium capsules are enormous; when I empty them into cottage, the grittiness isn't as noticeable as it is in some other things. Otherwise, for decades I've thought of cottage as something to eat only when I'm sick.

Day 2 of my self-imposed liquid pre-op diet hasn't been so bad. Surgery Wednesday morning. 98 pounds down now. Still hoping I get to 100 pounds down before surgery!

You have impressed the hell out of me @blizair09 !!! Prayers for a successful surgery and easy recovery!!
-
I got a pair of size 38 jeans at the mall tonight. And they fit -- and I mean for-real fit, not strain and wear your shirt-tail out fit. So psyched!
-
Had scrambled eggs for the first time post-op today. It went down just fine and there were no problems. Thank goodness! This is a big step toward "normalizing" eating a little bit.
-
305 pounds this morning. Down 92 now. 18 days until surgery and 8 pounds to get a one-hundred-pound loss pre-op. I'm going to do it!
-
3 pounds from a "normal" BMI and 7 pounds from goal!! It can be done!!

@ShelterDog64, good to hear from you! I haven't been on BP much myself lately, and it is certainly nice to see a familiar face around here! I hope you are doing well, too!
-
I have lost 90 pounds as of this morning! There is something about the nice, even numbers that is extra exciting. 23 days until the surgery. I WILL get to 100 pounds down before that day gets here...
-
I hate kale. It is gross. That is all.
-
We made new pictures yesterday. I feel like a normal-sized person for the first time in a long time. Also, I get to add salmon back into my world today. And Auburn beat Ole Miss. What a great weekend!! Now if the Saints can just surprise me with a win today...
-
I weighed 181 this morning. Only 1 more pound until goal, and the one year anniversary of my surgery date is Thursday. Seems appropriate!!
-
I took a bath today. Like soak in the tub bath. That's the first time I have been able to do that in at least 8 years! I wouldn't want to do it every day, but it was a nice change...
-
301 pounds this morning. Only 4 to go before 100 down with surgery a week from tomorrow. I haven't been below 300 pounds since early 2010. I can't wait!!

Thanks, everyone. Getting below 300 is going to be such a big deal, but if I can crawl to 297 before next Wednesday, I think I'll optimize my good feeling prior to surgery. I'm hoping the voluntary 3 days of liquid diet pre-op will put me over the top if I need it. (My nutritionist made me promise that I would only do 3 days and not a week!)
-
Two weeks post-op today. I have lost 16.5 pounds since surgery day and over 115 pounds overall!
-
New pictures posted. I really feel like I will meet my goal of 250 pounds (147 pound loss) by the time we leave for our Southeast Asia trip on December 19!
-
In London celebrating my partner's birthday. Then to Paris for Valentine's Day. So far, our Europe experience has been amazing!
-
I broke 500 calories for the first time today! And I had 74 grams of protein, too. Great day!
-
I bought some new clothes for some upcoming work and fun trips. I am now in 32 waist slim-fit jeans and size small button-downs. Who would have ever thought this could happen when I started at 400 pounds?!?
